Chapter 247: A bit of drama

Astrid’s face went pale, how did she get into this situation? The princess crawled to her mother’s side, begging at her feet. "Mother please, don’t let them take me away." Tears streamed down her eyes. This was the lowest moment of the princess’s life.

Eleanor turned her head away, her hands clenched to the side. This was a better option than for Astrid going to trial. She could not do much. Everything was in Eris’s hands now if he could ever bring himself to forgive his wife, but which man could be that benevolent?

Eris hissed, closing his eyes, unable to look at the woman he had been married to for years. He felt sorry for her but his heart ached, he didn’t think he was capable of forgiving her

He waved at his knights associated with the Silver Heart family. They approached the princess, and despite the situation, they still respected her, asking her nicely. "Can you please follow us, or we will be forced to use violence?" They asked her Astrid shook her head, her eyes drawing to Eris.

There was hurt in his gaze, she had never considered his feelings all the years they were married because she thought she had the upper hand in the marriage. Sadly that was not the case any more.

Her appearance was dishevelled, humiliated to the core. Her eyes were covered with sweat, dirt and tears. Her body carried the scent of a filthy pleasant.

She was set up; Astrid sniffed, bowing her head in shame before rising to her feet. It was a lost cost. She hugged the cloak trying to cover her body as she prepared to leave under everyone’s eyes.

"I am sorry..." Her voice choked before she walked past Eris. She could not look at the daughter she carried for 10 months nor the man she married.

As she left the scene, tears rolled down Eleanor’s cheeks. Lucian, who stood in complete shock and peril, was lost. "Mother is innocent." Diana cried; Lucian glanced at his niece, who was crying in his younger sister’s arms.

His fingers curled into a fist. Everything was too convenient. Astrid was not a fool to have had sex in an open space with a servant. Under normal conditions, someone did this.

"Everything will be okay," Lucian told Diana; it was vague and seemed like a lie, but the little girl naively held on to his words. Her cries dried up.

Lucian’s gaze darted around the crowd until it fell on someone, and he just knew as if Astrid could read his mind. Her eyes also meant Cedric. A wary smile crawled up her face.

Cedric was not the type to be invested in drama like this but he diligently watched everything. He made her reap more than she saw. Rage gained up in her but it wasn’t targeted towards Cedric

No, she could never blame him or her for what was caused by her selfishness and obsession; instead, she found someone else to blame. The first prince’s wife, Abrielle Nightshade, stole the man meant for her.

Eris followed behind Astrid and soon they were gone through the exit. "I guess the show is over." Cedric clicked his tongue. Alfonso was tempted to roll his eyes but he dared not.

Eleanor wiped her tears, her eyes going to the spectator. "The show is over and you can leave now." She sarcastically said, then stormed away. Bernice and Diana followed after her

Cedric saw no reason to linger longer; he took a turn, intending to leave. Now the show was over he was reminded of the fact he did not want to be close to Alfonso before he lost his mind.

Cedric made his way back in the direction of the chambers where he was staying. Unfortunately, all contenders stayed in the same quarters, although small consideration was given to the fact he was a prince to make his room a bit bearable.

Running footsteps followed behind him; they echoed, and anger was obvious from the sounds. Cedric sighed sensing the drama. "Here we go again." He muttered; Elias glanced at the prince, understanding what he meant.

"Cedric!!!!" He heard his second least, like half-siblings only next to Alfonso, call out his name. He didn’t like the fact he was stuck working with Lucian or the fact he was screaming out his name.

He stopped and then glanced at Lucian. "Why are you screaming my name? It’s still early in the morning." Cedric lazily said, as his eyes fell on the blonde prince.

"How could you do that to your sister?" Lucian barked at him gritting his teeth. He had lost his cool; he was normally a cool person, but seeing his sister humiliated in public, he could not do anything.

Cedric arched his brow at Lucian, "that’s an odd thing to say. Last I checked I was the only child of my late mother." He shrugged. Lucian was infuriated by Cedric’s words but that was the truth to the first prince. They were just people who shared the same last name with him.

"You know what I am talking about. You had something to do with what happened to Astrid." Lucian accused him, but Cedric’s expression remained unaffected by the accusations.

"Do you have any evidence to back your claims? I know you are smarter than this because what happened to Astrid has nothing to do with me. Last night, I was indoors, exhausted from the duel, and had no idea of what happened." Cedric replied Lucian’s forehead twitched hearing Cedric’s claims

Cedric didn’t have to carry out his plans himself. Lucian chuckled at Cedric. "Fine, I will get the evidence, and I will see if you can keep up the pretence."

"Good luck then and please do investigate the numerous occasions I was almost put in the same situation. Who knows it might be the same culprit?" Cedric chimed; Lucian understood the underlying meaning of his words.

Cedric was never the type to forgive; he was heartless for anyone who crossed him, but unfortunately, one person was an exception, yet she didn’t value it.
