Chapter 213: Maybe yes

Cedric felt her rage at his words and it puzzled him more. He did not understand what was going on at all and felt there might be a misunderstanding somewhere.

"You make it believable like you have no idea what I am talking about." Abrielle hissed at him, it was getting harder to keep a straight face at him.

"Maybe it is that way because I honestly don’t know what you are talking about." It was the truth, he did not write to Callista. He only wrote to Kaiden and Abrielle; now, miraculously, his letter never got to Abrielle and mysteriously got into the hand of Callista.

She didn’t believe in the slightest bit. She judged him based on prejudice and how she knew his character, Cedric von Drakkar.

"This is not a cause for a fight Cedric. It has always been my cross to carry. There will always be a Sapphire or Callista, and I won’t stop you from doing you as long as you don’t bother me. It is a simple agreement." She said with a firm tone honestly sick of this argument. It is really draining on her brain.

His grip tightened, causing her heart to skip a beat, but she held her place. She was being daring, arguing in his arms, but why would he care what she thought about his affair? In the same way,, he should not be vindictive towards her. There was nothing between her and Alfonso, but she had a feeling Alfonso was not going to make things easy for her, and she was going to be seen as his mistress for a while.

She just had to find a way to handle the situation because denying it wouldn’t help. He would not believe her, and she could not make it known to many her involvement with the fire. Only if the princess knew Cedric had already had a guess did she start the fire.

Cedric pulled her closer to his chest. She could feel his abs against her skin despite the sheer barricade of her clothes and night dress. He went rigid and was supposedly angry. Abrielle felt a heavy tension in the air, Cedric was trying so hard not to explode.

Why was he even angry in the first place? She would have scoffed if not for the situation she was in. "What did you say?" He said, his tone was calm, too calm. She felt goosebumps on her skin.

She nervously gulped, her lips grew too heavy to speak since she spoke. She had to let him know her stand, this was important for her survival.

"What I am trying to say is that you can get a second wife. I won’t be able to give you anything except my family’s support. My womb is damaged and I can’t stand in between..." The rest of her words turned into a yelp, Cedric suddenly flipped her over the bed while he crawled over her.

His face was calm but his eyes were burning. It seemed like there was an inferno there that wanted to consume her. He placed his hands on both sides, caging her underneath him.

He was pissed off; she knew how to play with his sanity, and when he was about to take it step by step, she went ahead to throw in a cannonball. "You don’t want to stand in between what Abrielle?" He asked, using all his willpower not to snap at her.

He knew she had it hard, too; he was trying his best to be an understanding husband and not a bloody tyrant, which he was.

Abrielle’s lips parted, but the words didn’t leave her mouth; she threw her face to the side, refusing to look at him. Her heart felt heavy, guilt was pressing her down.

"Please let’s not be like this and just come into agreement now or later." She muttered avoiding eye contact with him

"It is always so easy to toss me away. Am I that bad that, in the slightest situation, the best you can think of is to let me go?" He asked her and her eyes narrowed. His voice was cold but it felt like he was hurt.

"I am not letting you go. It is not like we can end this marriage. I am just trying to make things easier for us." Abrielle argued still avoiding eye contact with him. Cedric watched her side view before him. There was no remorse as she spoke.

It was so easy for her when he could not accept the reality everything was telling him to do. They weren’t meant to be, and it would be better if he let go; she also had the same idea. He thought things had changed but she was still the runaway bride.

"Makes things easy you say. How will bringing another woman into our home make things easy Abrielle? Do you have any idea what it is like to be in a polygamous family?" He asked her, she bit her lips

It didn’t matter how many wives he had because she wasn’t going to be around for long. It was either she died or she escaped. There was no future for them. "You need to have heirs of your own. I can’t say that it would be hard for me. Why is it so hard to accept I am trying to help you?"

His jaw clenched hearing her, "I already told you I don’t want children. It seems more like you just want me occupied with another woman while you have time with your lover. What did he offer or say to you, Abrielle, that made you forget he is a womanizer."

He accused her; she closed her eyes, not in the mood to argue with him. "Why do you care if Alfonso has anything to do with my decision? You don’t love me in the first place or are you going to claim you love me." She scoffed at him, finally meeting his gaze with a provocative look.

"You really want to toss your husband because of a flirt." Cedric hissed at her, his calm expression finally cracking.

Sensing his rage, she would have stopped, but at times, the devil whispered words of doom to our ears. "Yes, no, maybe so. Who knows? At least I don’t deny it like..." Her words were caught off, and she suddenly couldn’t breathe because the air was very heavy.

She was still trying to compose herself when she was thrown completely off by him. He kissed her.
