Lucian’s eyes snapped to Sapphire’s face, which was as plain as a sheet of paper. Ryker could not stand the way Lucian treated his sister. Lucian might be the male lead of the story, but it doesn’t make him more of a saint than Cedric. The only difference is that he hides his true self under a skin mask and not a gold mask.

Sapphire stated, trying to control her reaction despite how hurt she was.

The king was lost for words; Callista was the one with a pale expression when, finally, the tears she had been holding back broke, rolling down her cheeks; she bowed her head. "Lucian what do you have to say about this you know why we were here but yet pulled such a stunt," Ryker snapped, tiny flickers of lightening wove on his fingertips

"He had no idea of the engagement," Queen Eleanor panicked, intervening. Lucian was not told but he had an idea that was the truth. Eleanor could not afford to lose such a good match for Lucian after losing Abrielle to Cedric.
