The Villianess story: A 100 ways to kill your husband -
Chapter 117: It might not be possible
Chapter 117: It might not be possible
The room went silent after the Queen spoke, it was a tempting but dangerous offer. The fire continued to crackle from the fireplace, spreading its warmth around the room. Abrielle gently placed her cup on the table, and a soft smile etched on her face.
"I do understand where you are coming from, but I’d rather keep the affairs with my devil private. After all, issues with one husband should not escape the bedroom." She answered Eleanore, rejecting her offer in the most polite way possible.
Eleanor has been attempting to get rid of Cedric since his birth and has never succeeded, she agreeing to work with her was the same as agreeing to be her pawn, and Abrielle was not in the least interested in being a pawn for the woman who wanted her dead.
Despite the system claiming her fondness for Abrielle has increased it wasn’t a risk the princess was ready to try.
"I understand; it must be hard being with him, especially now he spends the majority of his time with that little vixen." Eleanor chimed trying to instigate Abrielle. She knew all about that. After all, she was the one who wrote it like that.
The key element of the plot was basically the female lead trying to integrate into the royal family that didn’t like her. Callista went through a lot of scenarios that were machine into making her a very intellectual person, and during this time, the undying love of her love interest was what she could rely on.
"They are working together to find answers for what happened at the winter hunt. It was truly an unfortunate incident, and I hope the answers they seek will be found soon." Abrielle’s answers were calculative, not to give out any hint about her true intentions.
Eleanor sat back from her seat; Abrielle knew the look on her face. She was thinking of something. The tea went on for a few minutes when Eleanor spoke on other matters relating to the harem.
Abrielle walked the queen to her carriage; the winter had gotten pretty cold lately as the month of Crystalys approached, which was the same as December on Earth’s calendar.
"It was nice talking to you and I am forever grateful to you. Please, if you ever need my help, never hesitate to ask for it." Eleanor said her parting words before heading on the carriage.
"Thank you for the offer. I am sorry that I didn’t host you properly since it was on short notice." Abrielle apologized but the queen didn’t take it to heart.
"It was fine; I did arrive on short notice."
Eleanor got on her carriage and rode away. Abrielle waited at the entrance until the carriage was far enough, but she didn’t go inside the castle and just lurked around, taking a short stroll around the castle grounds.
She was walking around the garden that was now frozen with an unending stretch of white. All the flowers were covered with a thick layer of ice. From behind she was closely followed by guards who watched her every action.
Cedric’s security got more strict recently despite when she hadn’t done anything that would warrant suspicion. A long sigh left her lips. Why was she even thinking about him?
Her footsteps sank into the snow covering her boots in frost. Her mind was trying to analyze her situation. Honestly, at this point, she was confused and not as confident as before.
The story was technically going according to the plot, but not exactly, then Cedric, on the other hand, was a puzzle she didn’t understand much. It was starting to seem like killing him was going from possible to impossible.
Now that she thought about it, what method was she going to use that hadn’t been using before? Eleanor has tried a lot of methods, including multiple failed assassinations; she even tried poisoning, putting her at risk; when she tried using the book plot, it bounced back, and she was almost killed in the process.
Trying to kill him directly was out of the option. She was weak, and Cedric could easily snap her into two. Her hand anxiously grabbed her dress as she continued walking.
She was scared of death because since all major events were still going on there was certainty Cedric would kill her soon. There was the option of not showing any hostility to Callista, but the victory banquet shows how well that would work.
"What will I do?" Abrielle sighed, the scariest part was that Cedric was not the only thing that threatened her life. It seemed like everything in this world could kill her.
Abrielle’s thoughts were broken by the soft meowing sounds she heard coming from ahead. A kitten, her brows furrowed wondering why there was one here.
She curiously followed the sound that led her to a small bush. Squatting down she started searching inside the bush. One of the previous guards who was looking after her rushed over.
"You don’t have to do that, your Highness," he suggested, implying it was improper for Abrielle to be searching through a bush, but Abrielle ignored him, her eyes finally falling on some blood stains in the bush.
"No need to bother, I can handle searching for a kitten myself." She said as she followed the bloodstains, the moews turned into painful whimpers the deeper she walked.
Finally, she saw the source of the cries: it was the kitten she had met in the forest. She could recognize it from its all-white fur. The kitten’s leg was injured, and it continued crying. Her heart stung seeing the poor little thing.
She bent over to carry it, not caring about the blood staining her sky-blue dress. "You should not be carrying strays, they might be dangerous." The guard cautioned, but how can this poor guy be dangerous?
The kitten’s cries got worse as if understanding the guard’s words, earning him a glare from Abrielle. "We need to get it medical attention immediately." She said, rushing out of the bush back to the castle. Seeing the injured cat reminded her of the cat she had back on earth that died after being run over.
Her protective instincts kicked in to help this one. At that moment she forgot about everything else.
