Chapter 47: A New Carriage

"Little Bird, you are glowing..."

Annalise’s eyes flew open and she found herself looking at a very amazed Kenric who seemed to be in fascination as he watched her body covered in a silver glow.

"What’s happening?" She asked as she noticed the glow covering her body. It felt almost like nothing but at the same time, she could sense its presence around and inside her body.

"Seems like the essence of your powers," Kenric answered as he slowly reached out to her, his fingers softly brushing against her cheeks and he immediately took a deep breath as the said essence welcomed his presence. "Yeah, definitely your power essence."

The light slowly dispersed, disappearing back inside her body and returning her body to normal. "Why did that even happen? Was that normal?" She wasn’t sure if she should be worried about that essence thing.

Kenric placed a kiss against her already swollen lips as he helped her in fixing her clothes and hair before he replied, "It can be considered a small power display and there’s nothing wrong with it. I think your powers were ticked off by that powerful climax."

Annalise felt her cheeks turning red as she was reminded of what they had just done. A sizzling spark went racing all over her body as her brain recalled that wonderful experience and rejoiced in the feelings that it gave her.

A chuckle left the Lord’s lips as he made his way to lay beside her on the ground before pulling her to rest in his arms. "It’s alright, we have plenty of time on our hands, and I’m going to explore every inch of your body the next time we will be sleeping together."

His words were like a promise against her ear and Annalise felt her cheeks warming up at the implication and the images that it brought to her mind. Instead of saying anything, she buried her face in the crook of his neck and allowed herself to rest.

The protective and warm embrace of her husband soon lured her into a deep sleep.

When Annalise woke up the next morning, she was alone in her bed with no sign of Kenric anywhere in her room. If not for the hickeys on her collarbone, she would have almost considered the episode of the previous night as a dream.

She still wondered what was that place he took her to and where it was. It seemed more of a magical place than one from the real world but at the same time, she could tell that he wasnt the one who created it as his power signature was completely different from the one present at that place.

Letting out a small sigh, she shook her head to get rid of the thoughts as she waited for Sera to start getting ready for the day.

"Is that carriage ours?" Annalise asked as she stared at the brand new carriage standing in front of the porch. From the outside, it appeared just as grand and prestigious as the royal carriages.

"It’s for you." Came Damian’s reply as he brushed nonexistent dirt from his black sleeves. He seemed to be trying to avoid looking at her ever since they met for the breakfast.

She opened her voice to confront him but was stopped before she got the chance to speak as Kenric came to stand next to her with a huge smile on his face. "The three of us talked about this matter yesterday. It’s been half a month since you came here and you still haven’t visited your maiden home even once since then..."

The mere mention of her home had Annalise turning her full attention to her husband as she eagerly waited for him to continue.

"... We can all visit the Grand Duke’s mansion tomorrow. And as for the presents, it’s up to you. You can visit the market today to pick up some presents for our visit tomorrow."

Annalise hurriedly nodded her head in agreement, her body and heart bubbling with excitement and happiness which she tried her very best to contain and not show to her husbands.

"We can literally see you radiating in happiness," Damian remarked suddenly, causing Annalise to turn her attention to him but the man was still avoiding looking at her.

At this point, she no longer had any doubts - these men could really read her mind though it seemed like it wasn’t the case all the time but at some specific moments. It was a topic that she needed to talk about with all of them but she put it aside for the time being as there was another important task at hand.

"Can you accompany me to the market?" Her request was directed at Damian and it seemed like that was the last thing he was expecting from her.

The man finally turned to look at her, his eyes staring at her in confusion as he questioned, "Are you talking about me?"

Annalise just nodded her head in the affirmative but didn’t speak.

"Why me? You can ask Kenric to go with you."

"He’s too troublesome," Annalise replied without missing a single beat and immediately heard a protest from Kenric but she ignored it.

"Then you can ask Valerius."

"He’s too handsome."

There was a long pause after her statement and only when Valerius cleared his throat after a couple of minutes did the silence break.

"I mean... he will get too much attention if he accompanied me to such a place with so many people." Annalise tried to explain in a better way.

"Then he can just change his appearance to look normal." Damian provided a solution as the man seemed fully reluctant to accompany her.

"How about you come with me and save everyone from putting extra effort?" Annalise wasn’t where her new confidence was coming from. Just a week ago, she wouldn’t have ever dared to talk like this to even Kenric let alone Damian of all people.
