Chapter 380: Mystery of Annalise’s Origin (Part One)
Annalise stared at the spirit like form that just came out of the lotus. Long blonde hair, amber eyes, fair skin, dressed in a long white silk dress - the spirit stared straight at her.
"Light Fae Queen..."
The words left through Annalise’s slightly parted lips as she stood there in pure shock. Her eyes even refused to blink in fear of losing the spirit that seemed like an imagination that could break at any moment.
She had never seen the late Light Fae Queen but the moment her eyes focused on the spirit’s face, she knew for sure that it was none other than the Light Queen herself.
Her mind whirred with a myriad of emotions as she gazed upon the ethereal figure of the Light Fae Queen. The air around them seemed charged with an otherworldly energy, and the silence hung heavy with anticipation.
"You... are you her spirit?" Annalise asked and immediately felt stupid for expecting a response from what seemed like a spirit... or just her imagination.
But to her surprise, the spirit actually answered and it was the softest and most melodic voice she had ever heard in her entire life.
"You did take your time, Annalise. I almost started feeling that I will never see you." The spirit smiled warmly and her beautiful amber eyes sparkled as she looked at Annalise as if it was looking at someone she adored or loved dearly.
Annalise felt her throat closing up as the look in the spirit’s eyes started playing with her heart and feelings. All of a sudden, she had way too many questions to ask but she didn’t know where to start from.
It seemed like the spirit knew about Annalise’s dillema because it took the initiative and give Annalise a chance to voice out what she was holding deep in her heart. "What do you want to know, my child? Don’t hold back since you can finally find the answers you have seeked for so long."
Annalise opened her mouth but then closed it. Her brain was struggling to chose which question she wanted to ask first. She decided to ask the whereabouts of the light energy but the question that left her mouth was a totally different one - "Who am I?"
The spirit’s eyes softened, a profound understanding radiating from them as they looked at Annalise. "You want to know about your origin?"
Annalise hurriedly nodded her head in affirmative. Her heart raced with anxiety and anticipation as she waited to know the answer she had been wanting to know from the moment she found out about her powers and the fact that she wasn’t her parents’ real daughter.
Right at that moment, a powerful force shook the place, sending Annalise reeling on her feet. The walls of the cave vibrated and water splashed out from the spring, yet, the spirit wasn’t fazed even for a second.
"What was that?" Annalise asked out loud once she found her balance again and immediately looked at the spirit to make sure it was still there.
"They have taken down the wards." The spirit of the late Light Fae Queen announced, her voice barely a whisper while her face was expressionless.
But unlike the spirit, Annalise showed a totally different reaction as her face was etched with the lines of worry. "I should get to the Light energy." She whispered to herself but the spirit heard her very clearly.
"You should." The spirit agreed and the small warm smile was back on her lips as she spoke. "But before that, you should learn the mystery of your origin, Annalise." She stretched out one of her hands, offering her open palm to Annalise who was struggling with conflicted thoughts. What if she wasted important time and lost the light energy?
But one look at the spirit of the late Light Fae Queen and she knew that it would never let anything bad happening to the Light energy. Without wasting more precious time on contemplating her choices, Annalise stepped inside the spring and headed toward the spirit. Her feet just touched the surface of the water but never dipped as she continued walking.
Once she was close enough to the lotus of the spirit, she raised her hand and placed it in the open palm of the spirit’s hand. The immediate rush of magic shocked her and before she could have understood much of what was happening, she was already pulled into the memories of the spirit.
She traveled back to the time when only Light and Darkness existed in the Primordial Realm. Watched the downfall of the great Realm and then the prosperity of Seelie and Midnight Realms under the guidance and ruling of Queen of Light and King of Darkness.
And finally, she found herself witnessing the events of that fateful day which changed the history of their world. Everything started as any other normal day in the Seelie Realm, everyone was enjoying another beautiful day of the spring.
Then the events shifted and Annalise watched as dark hooded figures rushed through the hallways, killing every person that came across their path, spraying the walls and floor with the blood of Seelies. There were twelve of them, each one more ferocious than the other. But what really made them formidable against the powerful Seelies was the dark energy that followed them to ruin everything that blocked its path.
The scene shifted again, and Annalise saw the Light Fae Queen dueling with a man with dark purple eyes. He was powerful, if not more; than just as powerful as the Light Queen herself and that was all because of the dark magic he was using.
At first, it seemed like the Light Queen would win, but then... everything changed when the man with purple eyes started manipulating the dark energy and it attacked the cities and villages of the Seelie Realm, destroying houses after houses, burning trees and all the greenery.
"Make your choice, My Queen. You can kill me and watch as this dark energy will ruin the rest of the world, or you can let me win and try to stop it." The man with purple eyes offered with a sinister smile.
