Chapter 378: In Search of Light (Part Five)

Chapter 378: In Search of Light (Part Five)

"I..."

Annalise was at a complete loss for words and she had no idea what to think of her newest hidden talent. Hence, she stood there staring at the pixies in silence while the other party did the same.

She had no idea how long it took before the silence was finally broken by one of the pixies.

"It’s you."

"Huh?"

Out of everything that she was expecting the pixie to say, these words weren’t in her list. She waited for some sort of explanation and it did come soon after.

"The rumored daughter of light in the prophecy. It’s you!" The pixie exclaimed in awe and his words led his companions to an equal level of shock, realization, and finally amazement.

On the other hand, Annalise just stood there in silence, not knowing how to respond to that remark. It wasn’t the first time she had been addressed as the ’Daughter of Light’ from the ancient prophecy that materialized right after the downfall of the great Seelie Realm.

The Midnight Princes were the first ones to call her that. Then Sir Niles, Silas, and even Pristine thought the same. She had always been connected to the late light fae queen in one way or another by the people who knew her elemental strength.

"How can that be possible?" Annalise finally found her voice and the first thing she did was to deny the connection that always seemed impossible to her. She did have magic of light element, but she never felt like she was connected to the late Light Fae Queen through blood. "I can’t be the late Light Fae Queen’s child, I’m not ten thousand years old."

Much to her surprise, the pixie started chuckling as if she just cracked a joke. When she pointed her unhappy gaze at the little one, he immediately stopped chuckling and put on a serious expression on his face. Even though he looked younger compared to the female and male accompanying him, Annalise believed that he held more authority compared to all his companions. His young appearance was just to fool the onlookers.

"You misunderstood the meaning of ’Daughter of Light’, Young Lady." He finally revealed the reason that made him start chuckling in the first place. "The late Light Fae Queen was indeed the first fae to ever control the element of light, just like the Dark Fae King was the first fae ever to control the element of darkness, but... the element of light and light energy are two completely different things."

It took way too long for Annalise’s brain to process his words. She was just too shocked to even think about it. The realization hit her so hard but she didn’t dare to believe what she was thinking, so, she seeked the confirmation from the little one. "What do you mean?"

The pixie observed her for a few moments before he spoke - "Tell me, Young Lady, what is the dark energy?"

"The impure energies out of the light and darkness, combined together to form the evilest energy possible in all four realms." Annalise answered without wasting any second. She knew the answer because Esmeray once told her the mystery behind the black energy and how it came to life in the first place.

The pixie nodded his head in acknowledgment of her answer before he asked her another question, one that cleared all possible doubts she had in her mind regarding the theory she just came up with.

"Then what should be the light energy?"

Annalise hesitated for a moment before answering - "The purest energies out of light and darkness?"

"That’s right." The pixie once again acknowledged her answer. "That is why, being the daughter of light does not make you the daughter of the late Light Fae Queen, but the daughter of the pure light energy."

Silence followed his words as Annalise stared at him as if he had grown two heads all of a sudden. She tried to make sense of his words but she was having a hard time imgining how such a thing could be possible.

"But... how?"

Much to her dismay, the pixie just shrugged his shoulders before adding - "That is something I don’t know as well. Maybe you will find the answer inside."

"Inside?" Annalise looked at the vast valley behind the pixies, wondering if the ’inside’meant somewhere deep in there.

"You are here looking for the hidden light energy, right?" The pixie asked and Annalise hurriedly nodded her head. "Then you should hurry up. The wards are about to break. We will buy you as much time as possible."

Before Annalise could have spoken, some sort of portal like thing opened right in front of her and she was pushed inside. By the time she found her balance, she found herself standing in a completely different place. The barren valleys around her turned into a green and luscious forest. A water fall was creating beautiful melody on her right and on her left, there was a mountain cliff with a small cave located in the centre. Glowing vines of different colors covered the cliff, and there were spiritual herbs covering the mouth of the cave.

Not wasting any time, Annalise teleported right inside the mouth of the cave. She walked through the tunnel which was filled with a soft glow because of all the silvery glowing vines covering its walls and after walking for merely a minute, she found herself descending a series of steps before she was standing in a small clearing.

There... right in front of her eyes... was a small spring filled with spiritual water. There were seven Ice Lotuses growing in a circle, each lotus carrying the elemental stones of one of the seven elements - water, air, earth, fire, shadow, light, and darkness, in its centre.

In the very middle of the circle formed by the seven lotuses, there was another lotus with closed petals. It was way bigger than the other lotuses, and each of its petal was in a different color.

The cave was filled with the strongest elemental energy Annalise had ever experienced in her life. She felt like she had eneterd the heaven of elements as she stood there spellbound while looking at the closed lotus bud that was calling to her in a way nothing else had ever called her.

She slowly started taking small steps forward, afraid that she might do something stupid and lose the lotus with closed buds. Her heart was racing, and she was holding her breath as she continued to walk toward the spring. She stopped right at the edge of the spring and to her surprise, there was no spell or ward stopping her from stepping into the spring. Still, she knew that she had to find a way to open the lotus and make it reveal what it was hiding behind its petals.

She closed her eyes and took in a deep breath, trying to calm herself down and collect her thoughts. When she opened her eyes, she was in a much better state than before. Her eyes scanned the area around her, observing and studying everything in detail, but there wasn’t much in there except for the spring.

Her gaze then landed on the seven lotuses circling the main lotus and she studied them individually. Her eyes then moved to the bigger lotus and she noticed that each petal of the lotus was in the color of the seven elements.

She hesitated for a moment before finally outstrecthing her hand toward the closest lotus which carried the power of water. She focused on her water element, summoning it and requesting its help. The element answered her call and a blue energy left her fingers and fused with the lotus carrying the water element. Blue light surrounded the lotus and turned it completely blue. The next moment, that lotus turned into a beautiful blue entry globe before flying toward the bigger lotus and merging with its blue petal.

Annalise watched while holding her breath as the blue petal turned a crystal blue before it slowly pealed away from the rest of its companions. She was expecting to see a glimpse of what was hidden inside but all she saw, from the slightest opening the petal left, was a golden light.

She then focused her attention toward the second lotus, this one carried the element of fire. Closing her eyes, she summoned her fire element and it responded just as immediately as water did. This time, a red energy left Annalise’s hand and engulfed the lotus, turning it into a red glowing globe before it too flew toward the bigger lotus and made its red petal turn into crystal red and peel away from the rest.

One by one, all seven petals peeled away from the bud, and once the final petal opened up, Annalise finally got a full and clear view of what the bud had been hiding inside.
