Chapter 375: Kenric & The Seelie Army

Chapter 375: Kenric & The Seelie Army

"The Seelie army is waiting for you down the mountain. You can leave the safety of the Castle in my hands, My Lord." Pristine informed Kenric once he had poured the content of the vial on the ward protecting the Cursed Castle.

Kenric gave a nod and both of them watched as the ward shimmered brightly with elemental magic for a few moments before the entire Castle disappeared from their sight along with the shimmering ward.

His gaze returned to the now empty vial in his hand and a smile bloomed on his lips. The vial contained the especial potion Annalise brewed to merge the powers of all the hundred spells, charms, and potions, that were used to strengthen the ancient wards of Seelie and Midnight Realms. In addition, she used some other ingredients and spells to add more advantages to the ward - resulting in the current invisible castle.

She divided the potion in two parts, while he got one of them, the other one was given to Valerius to pour it on the ward around the Secret Elemental Zone. And both of them had successfully performed their part of the job.

"Annalise has spent most time with you among all of us, and she trusts you to keep this place safe. And I will trust her judgement. Please look after those innocent lives in there. I will be taking my leave."

Since Kenric was tasked to lead the army of Seelies, he had decided to lead them down the mountain and into the Capital city of the Seelie Empire to wait for their enemies who would undoubtedly try to attack that place considering the citizens of that place were the weakest in terms of their magical abilities after the mortals.

Pristine watched as Kenric’s figure disappeared into the thick trees that were blocking the view. Once she was sure that he had left, she turned into her misty form and slipped inside the wards and into the Castle which she was assigned to protect.

By the time Kenric arrived in the Capital City along with the Seelie army, the dark army had already taken down the wards of the Seelie Empire that were way weaker compared to the ancient wards of the Seelie and Midnight Realms.

They had crowded the streets, set several homes on fire and were frantically searching for the common people that were supposed to be presenting those homes but were nowhere to be seen.

Kenric’s fingers tightened around the bow he was holding in his hand as his eyes took in the view. His fire sizzled right underneath his skin in utmost anger, ready to be let out so that it could devor those who were trying to destroy their peaceful and beautiful world.

But instead of giving in to his anger, he took in a deep breath to calm himself down before using his enhanced eyesight to take a closer look at the dark army who still hadn’t noticed the presence of the Seelies as the latter were still at some distance.

His eyes glowed bright red as his powers came to life and he watched as his eyes showed him the clear view of the dark army. A sinister smile stretched his lips as he informed his Seelie army - "Looks like our enemy underestimated us. This group merely contains a few dozens of darklings."

Turning his horse to face the seelies, he looked directly at the Summer King who was leading the seelies of his court, while the Dawn Princess was leading the seelies of her court.

"You will lead your army to the Mortal Realm to join Damien and the Mortal army." Kenric ordered and the Summer King immediately nodded in affirmative. The army of the Summer Court left in no time, leaving Kenric behind with the army of the Dawn Court.

Though initially, Damien was the one assigned with the task of leading the Seelie army while Kenric was supposed to protect the Cursed Castleand the people hidden in the Secret Realm, they made a last minute change because the mortals needed at least one powerful person in their army to stay confident to fight the dark army. That’s why, Damien left for the Mortal Realm while Kenric took over the leadership of the Seelie army.

"Let’s over this quickly." He whispered the words as he raised his hand which was holding the bow. Though his words were a mere whisper, the Seelie army behind him heard him loud and clear... and so did the dark army who suddenly turned their attention toward the Seelie army which was hidden in the fog.

Before their enemy could have grasped the situation, it was already quite late for them. Not only the fire arrow launched from Kenric’s now turned into dozens of fire arrows, there were also globes of powerful forces shot by the seelies that hit the dark army, sending their soldiers rolling on the ground with harsh impacts.

A roar of anger erupted from the dark army as they were enraged by the sudden attack that killed and injured their soldiers.

"Kill them! Kill them!"

The shouts filled the streets of the Capital city of the Seelie Empire as the dark army charged toward the Seelie army while launching attacks with their dark purple magic.

In the heart of the looming conflict, Kenric stood resolute, his eyes ablaze with determination as the dark army descended upon the Seelie forces. The air crackled with tension as the first clash between the two sides unfolded.

The Dawn Princess, a vision of grace amidst the chaos, channeled her magical energies to erect a shimmering barrier that absorbed the incoming onslaught of dark magic. The Seelie army, emboldened by Kenric’s leadership and the princess’s protective spells, prepared for the counteroffensive.

Kenric, with his bow in hand, led the charge, his eyes glowing brighter with each step. He unleashed a barrage of arrows infused with the essence of fire, creating a cascade of explosions amidst the dark army ranks. The Seelies, skilled in the ancient arts of magic, cast spells that resonated with the forces of nature, sending waves of energy rippling through the battlefield.

The dark army was probably not prepared to come across the Seelie army in the almost mundane capital city of the Seelie Empire, which explained the low rank soldiers with less magical powers and their small number that was sent to attack the Seelie Empire.

Kenric’s eyes locked onto the figure who was supposedly leading this batch of the dark army, cloaked in shadows, and as he let his powers assess the man, it became clear that he was just slightly stronger than the rest of his army. Determination etched across his face, Kenric directed his attention toward the imposing adversary. He notched an arrow imbued with a potent enchantment, his gaze unwavering.

The battle raged on, with the Seelies weaving intricate spells and the dark army retaliating with dark, malevolent magic. Amidst the chaos, Kenric’s focused aim found its mark as the enchanted arrow sailed through the air. The arrow struck true, piercing the heart of the dark leader and shrouding him in a burst of radiant light.

The demise of their leader sent shockwaves through the dark army, sowing confusion and panic. The Seelie forces, seizing the moment, intensified their onslaught. The Dawn Princess, her eyes ablaze with determination, unleashed a powerful wave of energy that cascaded through the dark army, dispersing their forces.

Kenric, sensing the turning tide, rallied his troops. "Finish them!" he commanded, his voice cutting through the chaos. The Seelie army pressed forward, their magic intertwining to create a mesmerizing display of power. The dark army, battered and broken, attempted a final desperate stand, but it was futile against the unified might of the Seelie alliance.

As the last echoes of battle subsided, the streets of the Seelie Empire’s capital lay strewn with the remnants of the defeated dark army. Kenric, his bow still in hand, surveyed the aftermath with a mixture of relief and resolve. The Dawn Princess approached him, a nod of gratitude exchanged between leaders.

"We’ve held the line," Kenric declared, his gaze sweeping across the Seelie forces. "But the battle is not yet won. We must be vigilant."

The Seelies, though weary from the conflict, stood tall, united under the leadership of Kenric. The threat had been repelled, but the shadows of the dark army still lingered.

"Should we rebuild this place?" The Dawn Princess asked as her eyes scanned the broken parts of several houses and shops that lined the street.

"Not yet. There might be more coming." Kenric responded as he closed his eyes to connect with his brothers and see what was going on at their ends.
