The Veil of Darkness
Chapter 310: Alliances

Chapter 310: Alliances

It took weeks for Annalise and her companions to stabilize the situation of the Seelie Empire, Sky Castle, and Mortal Realm after the attacks of the Dark energy.

The aftermath of the attacks left them completely drained, but the sense of fulfillment was palpable as they all finally returned to the Castle.

There was an urgent meeting scheduled for the coming evening in the Midnight Realm and while Valerius decided to bring Ezra, Marley, Leela, and Elijah along with them to the meeting, Annalise decided to introduce Sir Niles, Silas, and Pristine to everyone in the castle.

While others returned to their quarters to finally have a good sleep and rest, she headed straight to the secret library to meet Sir Niles and Silas. It took her quite some effort to make them agree to come out of their secret hideout and meet everyone.

Once she came to an agreement with Sir Niles and Silas, she headed out to find Pristine. The fairy was busy taking a nap on one of the high branches of a tree in the back garden when Annalise found her and woke her up.

"You are finally back!" Pristine looked absolutely happy to see Annalise aa she jumped down the tree.

"I want you to meet my husbands and friends." Annalise wasted no time and just dropped her idea in front of Pristine who was too shocked to speak for a couple of moments. Once the initial shock went away, the fairy finally spoke - "You what?"

Annalise let out a small breath before she answered - "I want you to meet my husbands and the rest of the people living here. I have already talked to Sir Niles and Silas, I will introduce the three of you to everyone this evening."

"Why?" Pristine asked and her expression said that she was genuinely curious.

"For two reasons..." Annalise started - "... First, I no longer want to keep any secrets from my husbands, especially when they are so supportive and understanding, and Second, because I want the three of you to join us in tomorrow’s meeting in the Midnight Realm."

Pristine seemed to be deep in thoughts for a moment before she questioned - "Are you forgetting that the three of us are bound to the castle? We can’t leave here."

"And are you forgetting that you have already once left the castle grounds to meet me?" Annalise reminded Pristine of the past episode when the fairy came to meet the former down the mountains. "Since it was the late Light Fae Queen who bound you all here and you all believe that I’m related to her in one way or other, I’m sure you all can step out of here if I will allow it."

Though Annalise wasn’t really sure of her theory, she still wanted to give it a try. "Best case scenario, you all will be able to step out of the castle grounds, and worst case scenario, you won’t. There’s no problem in trying, right?"

Pristine studied Annalise in silence for a while, her expression hard to read, but then she finally gave a nod of her head in approval. "Fine. I will follow whatever you will say."

Annalise couldn’t help but smile brightly at the fairy. The two of them discussed the topic for a little bit more before Annalise too decided to return to her quarters and enjoy some much-needed rest.

With the sun dipping low, casting an orange hue across the Castle’s walls, the Dark Lords gathered everyone in the living hall.

"Thank you all for your unwavering efforts," Valerius began, his voice carrying gratitude. "But the challenges are far from over."

Ezra, with his piercing gaze, nodded in agreement. "Indeed. Our duty is not just to rebuild, but to ensure such darkness doesn’t breach our realm again."

Marley, Leela, and Elijah exchanged glances of determination. They understood their roles extended beyond ordinary service.

Annalise was quiet as she sat sandwiched between Damien and Kenric, both men had their arms wrapped around her while they bask in the comfort of their bonds after spending weeks away from each other.

Once Valerius had thanked everyone for their hardwork, his attention shifted to Annalise and he spoke - "And a special thank you to the Lady of this Castle because if not for the flixirs and charms she provided us, this mission wouldn’t have turned out to be this successful."

Annalise felt her cheeks warming up as she suddenly became everyone’s center of attention.

"That’s true. Those elixirs were really great. One little drop cured the deepest of wounds, one little drop brought dead trees back to life. Those elixirs were literal gems." Leela added, her awe clear in her voice.

"Well... thank you. I’m happy to be of some help." Annalise felt happy to be able to provide help. Though she knew that elixirs were powerful, using them in real life and seeing their true power with her very own eyes made her feel even more grateful toward Pristine for teaching her how to brew those elixirs.

"When did you learn to create these elixirs though?" Kenric asked from beside her.

Taking a deep breath, Annalise stood up from her seat and started heading in a certain direction of the room while speaking - "I have found some really great friends here in the castle who have been helping me to learn new things."

In one corner, Sir Niles, Silas, and Pristine stood, almost invisible until now. Annalise approached them, her tone gentle yet assertive. "It’s time to let others know of your presence. The castle is stronger united."

Silas hesitated, his eyes fixed on the ground. "We’ve been hidden for so long..."

"Your vigilance has kept us safe," Annalise acknowledged. "But we are stronger together. Our secrets are our strength."

After moments of quiet contemplation, the three nodded, a shared understanding passing between them. With one single wave of his hand, Sir Niles made all three of them visible to everyone’s eyes.

As the others filed in, Annalise introduced them one by one, each name resonating in the hall. Valerius, Damien, and Kenric exchanged glances of intrigue and curiosity when Sir Niles, Silas, and Pristine were revealed.

Valerius approached Annalise privately, his voice a low murmur. "You kept this well hidden, my love."

"I thought that it was essential," Annalise replied, her eyes unwavering. "But it’s time to stand united as one."

The others stared in a mix of awe and surprise. Marley’s wide eyes reflected his disbelief, while Elijah’s grin was full of admiration. Leela’s gaze was a mixture of curiosity and respect, and the castle servants exchanged whispers in hushed tones.

Sitting around a large table, the group shared a meal, the atmosphere a blend of camaraderie and newfound unity. Conversations flowed, and laughter broke the tension that had settled in their hearts.

Sir Niles, Silas, and Pristine took their time to open up but once they did, they shared really deep and secret stories of the Seelie Realm and its past.

Soon, it was time to head to the Midnight Realm. The group, now expanded, walked side by side through the castle’s passages, shadows dancing on the walls as they neared the portal that Valerius had opened up for them to enter the Midnight Realm.

As they stood before the portal, Valerius spoke, his voice steady. "We embark on a path not just to protect our lands, but to forge alliances that transcend realms. This journey won’t be easy or peaceful but once we succeed, we will find a safe and happy world to live in."

Annalise added, her gaze encompassing all those present, "Together, we shall restore balance and ensure that this dark energy and ones manipulating it never overcomes the peace and safety of our world."

Everyone nodded their heads. At this point where all of them were so deeply involved, none of them felt like returning without completing the mission of getting rid of their enemy.

Stepping through the portal, the Midnight Realm greeted them with its enigmatic beauty. Moonlight shone down, casting an ethereal glow on their faces.

The Midnight Queen awaited their arrival, and as they took their seats, the discussion began after a quick introduction.

The meeting carried on, discussions ranging from strategy to alliance-building. The group’s newfound unity resonated in every word spoken.

As the evening drew to a close, Midnight Queen rose, her voice carrying a note of finality. "Let this alliance be a testament to our resolve. Our realms shall thrive, that dark energy should be banished by the light we bring."

With those words, they departed the Midnight Realm, the moonlight fading as they returned to their Castle. The journey back was quiet, a shared understanding enveloping them.

Back in the Castle’s grand hall, Valerius stood beside Annalise, their hands intertwined. "This is the beginning of a new journey that’s going to be really difficult," he whispered.

Annalise nodded, a determined smile on her lips. "We’ve already faced a lot these past few months. As long as I have the three of you by my side, I’m not afraid of anything."

The others gathered around, their expressions a mix of hope and determination. As they prepared to rest, the Castle felt alive with purpose and unity, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead.
