Chapter 286: No More Shyness

Annalise woke up with a start. Her eyes flew open and she was met with bright light that almost blinded her for a couple of seconds before her eyes got adjusted to the brightness.

As she took in the familiar ceiling up above and her senses picked up the presence of the man sleeping next to her with his strong muscular arms wrapped around her body, she realized that what just happened was nothing more than a dream, or was it?

Before she could ponder more on that thought, her attention was pulled toward the man who was making his way toward the bed. Clad in long blue robes with his long silver hair pulled back with a simple jade hairpin, he looked nothing less than the handsome Winter Prince that he was.

"You are finally awake," Valerius stated with a warm smile as he moved to sit at the edge of the bed next to Annalise’s head before pulling her head to rest on his lap, his fingers finding their way into her hair as he started softly massaging her scalp.

"You looked kind of disturbed. Bad dream?" He asked after a couple of moments of silence as his fingers continued to expertly loosen her tight muscles.

"Not bad... but a really weird dream," Annalise told him as her mind once again traveled back in the memory lane of the weird dream that she just experienced.

"Want to talk about it?" Valerius offered as his other hand moved to take hold of one of her hands, entangling their fingers and bringing their moonthreads closer to each other’s which made them glow brightly.

Annalise thought about it for a second or two before she decided to tell him about the dream. However, the moment she opened her mouth to speak, there was a knock on the door.

"What is it?" Valerius called out to the person waiting outside.

"My Lord, My Lady, Lord Damien, and His Highness Elijah is asking for your presence." Came Sera’s response from outside the door.

Valerius turned his attention toward Annalise and the latter gave him a small smile as she spoke - "It’s alright. We can talk about this later. You should go and meet them, and I’ll be there after getting dressed."

Valerius seemed reluctant as he studied her face closely while asking, "Are you sure?"

Annalise squeezed his fingers lightly as she smiled even more broadly while nodding her head. "I am sure. Don’t worry."

He finally gave in and nodded his head in agreement before bending his face down to place a kiss on her forehead. When he straightened up again, he called out to Sera - "Sera, come inside and help your Lady in getting ready."

"Yes, My Lord," Sera answered as she entered the room and greeted them with bows while keeping her eyes trained on the floor.

"I will be downstairs," Valerius told her as he finally stood up.

Before Annalise could reply, another person spoke up from beside her - "You don’t need to worry, I will look after our dear wife."

Valerius just shook his head before he left the room.

"Sera, you can leave your Lady in my care. I promise to not disappoint you with my skills." Kenric told the girl who hurriedly looked up at Annalise as if asking what she should do.

"It’s okay. You should help out Aunt Claire. I will be downstairs soon." Annalise told her as she tried to keep the cover from slipping down past her very naked body because of all the movements Kenric was making next to her.

Sera bowed before she quickly left the room, closing the door on her way out.

The moment they were alone, Kenric had his arms wrapped around Annalise as he rested his chin against her shoulder while pressing their bare bodies together.

"What are you doing? We need to get ready, Kenric." Annalise tried to remind the man who didn’t make any effort to let her go. Instead, he tightened his arms around her and pulled her closer.

"I just want to reward you," Kenric responded with a bright smile.

Annalise arched her eyebrows high in question as she asked him - "Why?"

"Because I’m feeling proud of you."

"Again - why?"

"Because of how much you have grown since the first day we met. There was a time when you used to get embarrassed even if someone saw us hugging or kissing, but look at you now, you don’t even mind if someone finds us naked in bed."

"..."

Annalise felt horrified at Kenric’s words but what she couldn’t decide at the moment was what exactly made her feel more embarrassed, the fact that she used to be so shy back in the days or that she had completely lost that shy part of hers.

"Stop messing around. We need to get dressed. The others are waiting for us." She hurriedly pulled away from the man and climbed out of bed while wrapping the blanket around her body. What she forgot was that because of her taking away the blanket, Kenric was left completely naked.

"Oh...!"

That’s all she could muster out when she noticed Kenric sitting in the middle of the bed while his gaze was fixed on her with a teasing smile on his lips.

"Well..." She trailed off when she saw him finally moving. He climbed out of bed and made his way straight toward her. As soon as she was within his reach, he pulled her straight into his embrace, locking his arms around her waist.

"What are you doing?" She asked when he started inching his face closer to her.

"I promised my brother and Sera that I would take care of you. So, I’m going to do exactly that."

"But..."

"Sssh."

Kenric silenced her as he placed his lips against her in a sweet little kiss. When he pulled away a couple of seconds later, his eyes were glowing with love.

"Let’s get ready. I will be the one dressing you up for the day."
