Chapter 279: Freeing The Divine Guardian Beasts (Part Three)

’If that’s the case, I don’t think I can possibly have anything to exchange for your help.’ Annalise said as she thought about what he had just said. She had always felt like Esmeray was looking for something, and his words only confirmed her doubt. There was something out there that he wanted more than anything in the entire world. But exactly what could it be?

’You are probably the only person in this entire world who is eligible to make a deal with me. However... not in your current state.’ Esme replied while pulling her out of her thoughts.

’What do you mean?’ Annalise asked as she was confused about exactly what he was trying to say. He seemed to have both praised and downplayed her in a single statement.

’I’m just trying to say that you are way too weak at present in the most sophisticated way possible. Though the people around you are trying to make you grow powerful and stronger, they are being too soft with you. At this rate, you will need years of practice to reach your full potential, and you don’t have that much time; none of you do.’

Annalise wondered if his words were some sort of warning. Who else would know exactly what sort of calamity was moving toward their world if not him?

’If that’s the case, then why are you even helping me?’ She asked as she shifted her gaze back toward the witches, who were almost done with their spell.

’Because...’ Esme suddenly paused after speaking only one word, making Annalise wonder what he wanted to say. He indeed took his time to collect his thoughts before he finally continued speaking - "... that’s why I exist.’

’Huh?’

His words were even more confusing than his silence and despite her showing her confusion, the man refused to speak any further.

After a couple of moments, Annalise finally gave up on him and returned her full attention toward the Dark Witches.

Right at that moment, a bright light blasted through the formation, blinding everyone for a couple of moments before it disappeared completely into the thin air.

The very next second, the area was occupied by several Divine Beasts that were even larger than the size of a house.

Annalise stared in awe at those huge beasts that were making her crane her neck to an uncomfortable angle. There was a White Phoenix with light blue feathers that signaled toward its Ice magic. Then there was a white nine-tailed fox, a black dragon, and a Pegasus.

"Woah!"

That was all Annalise could muster out at that moment as she was too overwhelmed to think properly. Her eyes and brain were suddenly having problems taking in all that was in front of her.

"They are quite huge." Murmured Elijah from somewhere behind Annalise as the Mortal Crown Prince was having even harder time believing his eyes.

"We have completed our side of the deal. Since we are no longer needed here, we will be taking our leave now." The Witch Leader announced as she appeared with her people.

"We really appreciate your help. Thank you for accepting the request." Valerius showed his appreciation through his words as he too bid farewell to the Witches. The latter didn’t waste much time as they took their leave almost immediately, leaving only the Dark Lords, Annalise, and Elijah behind with the Divine Guardian Beasts.

"What are we going to do about them? We can’t just let them go and live in the wilderness because the current situation isn’t good for that. What then?" Kenric pointed out the new problem that they were facing now after freeing the Divine Guardian Beasts.

Meanwhile, Annalise was way too busy looking for someone to think for a solution. She was almost about to call her husbands for help when her eyes finally notice a little thing hopping out of the herd of the Divine Beasts and flying straight into Annalise’s arms.

It was just as cold to the touch as Valerius but there was no discomfort. Instead of feeling cold, Annalise’s heart was filled with warmth because of that small gesture which actually meant a lot to her.

"Master, I have a solution." The Little Snow Lion spoke with pride as if it was really satisfied with itself for coming up with a plan to deal with the issue.

"Really? What is it then?" Annalise asked her familiar while she quickly stole a look at her husbands only to notice that all of them had their gazes locked at the Little Snow Lion.

"We can bring them to the castle and they can stay there just like me. That’s the safest place for them and they can guard the castle and all of you in return."

"..."

The three Dark Lords/Midnight Princes barely showed any response to the Little Snow Lion’s suggestion except for their silence. Hence, the little Divine Beast had all its attention focused on Annalise.

"Well... that..." To say that she was having a hard time, seeing her familiar’s suggestion coming to life, would be an understatement, "... no matter how big the castle is... I don’t think it’s big enough to keep all these Divine Beasts."

To everyone’s surprise, the Little Snow Lion chuckled before it turned its attention to the other Divine Beasts. It seemed like they were communicating through their silence and after a while, Annalise and the others watched in shock as all the Divine Beasts, except for the Little Snow Lion, suddenly turned smaller.

All those majestic Beasts were suddenly the size of Little Snow Lion.

"How about now?" Her familiar asked while looking at Annalise with a smiling face.

A smile bloomed on her face and Annalise scratched the little Beast’s ear as she nodded her head in approval. "We can definitely make your idea come to life."

"Are you coming with us?" Valerius asked Elijah who had been completely silent all this time.

"Not tonight. But I’ll be there by tomorrow evening." Elijah responded as he took a last glance toward all the Divine Beasts.

They all hurriedly bid their farewells before Annalise and the Midnight Princes headed toward their home along with all the Divine Guardian Beasts.
