Chapter 277: Freeing The Divine Guardian Beasts (Part One)

Valerius was patient with her as he just stood there silently and just patted the back of her head softly with one of his hands while his other hand was protectively wrapped around her waist. He didn’t say anything, nor did he try to make her stop crying; instead, he just allowed her to let out the piled-up emotions.

Annalise had no idea for how long she cried and just how impatient the Dark Witches were feeling because of her, but when she finally started calming down, the only thought left with her was that of regret. She should have held back a little bit more so that they could finish the important task of creeping the Divine Guardian Beasts first.

"Though you just cried, I can feel that you are actually happy." Valerius finally spoke as he kept brushing the tips of his fingers through her hair, lightly massaging her scalp. His voice was so soft that Annalise wondered if it was only her who heard him.

"I just got accepted as a master," she admitted and immediately heard Kenric squealing in happiness from somewhere nearby.

Valerius immediately pulled away from the hug to look at her face, and there was a proud smile on his lips as he gave her a sudden but very sweet forehead kiss before speaking - "I’m so happy for you." And then she was once again pulled into a tight hug as he engulfed her into his embrace.

She felt Damien and Kenric’s presence nearby, and when Valerius finally allowed her to step away from him, she received quick hugs and bright smiles from her other two husbands as well.

"So... are we going to get started with the work or not?" Though the Witch Leader tried her best not to sound sarcastic, she didn’t really succeed completely.

Annalise hurriedly pulled away from her husbands and called the Little Snow Lion out through their shared mind link.

"What do you want us to do?" Damien asked the Witch Leader as he noticed them shifting to form some kind of formation.

"Nothing. Just look out for us. We will take care of things from here on." The witch leader responded as she guided the rest of the witches around the formation while Little Snow Lion was made to stand in the very center of the formation.

Annalise kept her eyes glued on their every single moment, observing the formation closely and trying to watch just what kind of spell they were about to cast.

’Are you alright?’ She asked her familiar through the mind link and was happy when it immediately responded - ’Don’t worry, master. Despite my little frame, we all know that I’m anything but little or fragile. I’m over several millennials old and have seen way too much of this world to be afraid of something this trifling.’

Annalise immediately went silent as she could hardly find any word to respond to her familiar. The truth was, she did actually forget just how old and powerful the Divine Snow Lion was because of its little frame. She was the last person who could be of any help to it.

She noticed how her husbands and Elijah formed another formation of their own around the witches to make sure that they would keep any sort of sudden disturbance from farming the process of freeing the Divine Guardian Beasts.

"What are you watching so closely?" Kenric asked as he came to stand right next to her.

"Why are you here?" She asked in return instead of answering his question.

"I’m trusted with the task of keeping you safe and getting bored all alone here," Kenric replied in his cheeky voice as he pressed the side of his folded arms against hers, making Annalise stumble slightly before she regained her balance and stepped away from him.

She wanted to ask her other two husbands why they thought sending Kenric to accompany her was a good idea, but she decided against it at the last moment and just kept silent. The important matter at the moment was to get the Divine Guardian Beasts out from the clutches of the dark energy and their bond with the Portal Halls.

The witches completed the formation quickly, and soon enough, the Witch Leader started chanting the spell before the rest followed. For the next couple of moments, nothing happens at all, but the first change that Annalise noticed was how the surroundings started getting silent from the moment the chanting started.

At one point, there was no other sound except for the witches’ chant, and then, the formation finally came to life as powerful lights shot out of the witch leader’s hand and joined the others before all coming together to merge with the Little Snow Lion.

Annalise tried to forge her way through her shared bond with the Little Snow Lion to make sure that it was alright and felt a sort of relief when she found that it was fine and safe.

’Why don’t you try and look through their spell to see exactly what they are doing?’

The sudden but very familiar voice that filled Annalise’s mind almost made her jump out of surprise. She hurriedly looked around to search for the man, but there was no trace of him.

’No need to look for me. I’m still inside the Cursed Castle.’ Esmé told her through the mind link that he had somehow formed with her, making several questions fill Annalise’s brain.

"Is something wrong, Little Bird?" Kenric asked as he took hold of one of her hands and made her turn her attention toward him. His eyebrows were pursed together as his eyes scanned her face to see if he could find what was wrong with her.

Annalise hurriedly shook her head as she replied, "Nothing. I’m just trying to study their spell. Don’t mind me."

Though he didn’t look really convinced, he eventually gave her the space she was looking for and focused his attention on keeping guard.

Once Annalise was alone, she finally replied to Esmeray - ’Why are you contacting me? And how?’
