Chapter 272: Embarrassed

"You must have lost your mind." Kenric seemed to be in shock after hearing about the Spirit Cores that Valerius had used to trade for help from the Dark Witches.

"Why are you saying that?" Annalise asked him as she felt Valerius entangling his fingers with hers while the four of them continued to follow the woman toward the guest quarters.

"You must know how rare and precious Spirit Cores are. Mother gifted him those on his eighteenth birthday but look what he has done. He surely doesn’t know any better." Kenric told her as he gave another very unimpressed look to Valerius who had decided to just ignore his youngest brother’s remarks.

A smile bloomed on Annalise’s lips and Kenric sure didn’t like it as he immediately called her out - "Little Bird, don’t tell me you warrant angry at him for his stupidity?"

"Annalise."

"Huh?"

"My name is Annalise. Don’t go around calling me other things out in public." Annalise felt her cheeks turning red when she noticed that the witch was paying her full attention to their conversation and she almost did a double take when Kenric suddenly called her ’Little Bird’ out loud.

The initial confusion left Kenric’s face and a sneaky smile took its place as he spoke - "What are you talking about, Little Bird? One outsider doesn’t consider as public. Besides, you are my Little Bird, how can I dare to call you something else? Never!"

"You..." Annalise felt like her face was literally on fire and she almost wanted to punch Kenric for his constant teasing. However, she didn’t get the chance to do anything more than speak out a frustrated word referring to him as Kenric went another step ahead in his teasing and kissed her... right there in the middle of the long corridor and in front of the witch.

One of his hands found its way to the back of her head as he slightly pulled her closer to him and the very next second, his lips were pressed against her in a sweet but kind of possessive kiss that lasted for a couple of seconds before he finally pulled his face away to look at her with his smile back on his lips.

"You look really angry right now." He whispered softly as his smile only stretched further on his face, fueling Annalise’s frustration.

"You are very wrong there. I’m not feeling only angry but as if I want to kill you." She gritted out through her clenched teeth that were making her cheeks hurt.

The smile only became bigger if possible as her shameless husband answered - "I can die for you anytime, Little Bird. So you can go ahead and kill me. You won’t even need a weapon... just smile or flirt or tease me or anything... stars... I think even your mere existence is enough to kill me and my heart that is beating like crazy right now."

The more Kenric spoke, the more his tone became lighter as if he was suddenly feeling lovestruck and so were his expressions.

Annalise snatched away her hand from Valerius’ hold and covered her face with both her hands as she felt like just disappearing into thin air. She knew that Kenric was so cheeky and shameless but she never thought that she would encounter such a cheesy side of him one day.

She was so embarrassed that she didn’t even dare to look at others’ reactions. She could already guess that Valerius must be glaring at Kenric for teasing her but he still hadn’t interfered because deep down in his heart, he was enjoying the moment. As for Damien, he must be half bored and half interested in the ongoing show.

But her husbands weren’t the ones she was worried about, it was the witch who had been enjoying the show the most. If Annalise wasn’t wrong, the entire witch city would know about this story in no time. Just the thought of it made her feel like burying herself deep in the ground and never coming out.

She just couldn’t bear to stand there any longer, so she made her way ahead of the Dark Lords and started heading forward without even knowing where she was going.

The witch hurriedly caught up with her and continued to show her the way.

"Little Bird, wait for me...!"

Annalise wanted to just hit Kenric and get his brain working properly but in the end, she just decided to ignore him.

"The Autumn Prince loves you a lot, Your Highness. And I’m sure the other Princes love you a lot too." The witch told Annalise with a sweet smile as they finally made a turn to head toward the east tower.

"What love? He just knows how to tease me... shameless man!" Annalise responded but because of her anger, she forgot to lower her voice and ended up speaking out way too loud.

The chuckles from behind her that followed her angry remark immediately, only made her fasten her speed as she just wanted to run away from her crazy mates.

After walking for a couple of more minutes, they finally arrived at the section of guest quarters and the witch led them inside one of them.

"I will be taking my leave, now. Please enjoy your stay here. The refreshments will be here soon and I will be back to accompany you all to the dining room this evening for dinner." Saying her part, the witch left.

Annalise didn’t waste any time as she turned away from her husbands, the moment witch closed the door, and hurried to find a room where she can stay alone.

Yet, she was barely halfway through the sitting area, when a hand grabbed her arm and the very next second, she found her back pressed against the wall while strong muscular arms were caging her as they were pressed against the wall on either side of her shoulders.

"What are you doing?" She asked while looking into those deep eyes and her voice came out way too huskier than she preferred.
