Chapter 251: Her New Task

"So you are saying that whoever is behind all these attacks, robberies, kidnapping, and murders... they are the followers of the darkness and doing all this because they want to release the trapped dark energy from the Seelie Realm?" Kenric repeating the summarized form of all that Annalise just told them as he carried a questioning look on his face, it was more of him analyzing the theory on his own and less of suspecting her words which made her feel relieved.

"I’m not really shocked to hear this, to be honest. We always had our doubts about the dark energy being the centre of all this issue but we mainly thought that someone is probably after the light that is still hidden somewhere inside the Seelie Realm. We never thought that it was the other way around." Damien added as he still kept drawing circles on her shoulder, something he probably started fojng unconsciously a little while ago.

There was silence in the study for a while which made Annalise turn her attention toward Valerius who had been silently listening to everything without putting forward his own theories or reasons.

The first dark lord noticed her fixed gaze on him and it finally made him move from where he had been standing against the wall near the fireplace. He headed straight toward the study desk where the rest of them were sitting and took his seat on one of the empty chairs.

"Damien is right, we always have our own suspects. But even though the information that we have received states that they are after the black energy, we can’t completely cancel the idea of light energy being involved in this entire conspiracy. No one in their right mind would let go of the only chance to get their hands on the light even if they are the followers of dark energy."

Annalise completely agreed with Valerius’ words, even though Esme didn’t tell her anything about the involvement of the light energy in this entire scenario, she just couldn’t believe that there was no one out there who was planning to take advantage of this entire situation to find the light energy.

"By the way, Cupcake, can you now tell us where you got all this information from? And what is inside those two rooms on the top floor? I’m dying of curiosity here." Kenric looked at her hopefully while waiting to hear the story.

Annalise opened her mouth to speak but then immediately closed it at the very last moment. She noticed how all three of her husbands were looking at her with expectation filled eyes. Taking in a deep breath, she finally spoke - "I think if I told you about the secrets of this castle and everything else that I have learned recently, it will distract us from our investigation and will waste a lot of our important time. That’s why..."

She paused for a couple of seconds to see each of the three dark lords’ expression before continuing - "... I have decided that I will tell you about all these secrets once we have solved this issue. Alright?"

None of three Dark Lords answered for a while but they did take enough time to spare a quick glance at each other as if they were talking telepathically. Several long moments of their silent discussion passed before Valerius finally broke the silence and announced, "Fine. We will wait till this investigation is over to hear what you have to tell us."

A smile of relief broke onto Annalise’s lips as she realized that none of her husbands were against the idea of her stalling for some more time before telling them about the secret rooms and other related information. Once again, they were completely understanding and patient with her, something that they had been doing from the very beginning.

"Good. Then let’s get this matter settled because we also have something important to tell you." Damien stated and his words immediately piqued Annalise attention but just as she was about to ask what important thing he was talking about, she stopped herself at the very end as she knew better than to ask a question she won’t be getting answer of.

"Okay." She answered at the end after staying silent for a while.

All of them nodded their heads together in agreement before Kenric finally put forward a very important question as he brought all of their attention back to the topic of their ongoing investigation. "What are we going to do now about the incidents?"

"I thought about what we knew about the incidents and things that were common among all of them. First, they stole the halves of Wish Jewels and then they went as far as stealing the remaining Wish Jewels from the Sky Castle." Annalise started summarizing what she had concluded after spending hours thinking about the incidents.

"Second, the disappearance of all three Portal Halls’ guardians. These are the two common links among all three incidents."

"You said our enemies are trying to break the wards. How about we start searching from there? We should look into the way that can possibly take down such a powerful and ancient ward." Damien suggested his idea and everyone agreed with it.

"For that we need to look for someone who knows the wards from the very day they were created." Annalise knew just how hard it was to find someone like that and the thought of Esme popped into her mind.

She noticed her husbands sharing another look among them and this time, it made her arch her eyebrows in question.

"Leave that to us. We will sure find a way to contact someone who will be able to provide us with the answer we are looking for. In the meantime, let’s do some more research on the Wish Jewels and the guardians of the Portal Halls." Valerius suggested and once again everyone agreed with him.

The four of them remained sitting there for a while longer as they discussed further about their plan for their investigation. It was around half an hour later when they finally ended the meeting and all of them walked out of the study.

As it was already evening, it was getting closer to their dinner time so they all decided to head to the dining hall.

"What are you thinking about?"

Annalise was pulled out of her thoughts when she heard Valerius’ question as the man walked beside her while Damien and Kenric were walking quite a couple of steps in front of them while discussing about something in whispered tone.

She turned her head to take a quick look at the first dark lord before she answered, "I was wondering if there’s any place in this world where we can find records on whatever we wish you know about... of course, except for the Seelie Realm." She added the last sentence when she noticed the smile of her husband’s face which only became bigger at her words.

"There are several... places... where you can find really ancient records relating to different realms and different topics but unfortunately, there’s no place other than the Seelie Realm where you can find every record, secrets, and magic relating to the four realms in one place. Only if someone had tried to save at least those records..." A deep sigh of pure disappointment left Valerius’ lips as he found himself thinking about just how much information and secrets the world had lost ten thousand years ago.

"You are right, only if..." Annalise trailed off as she suddenly recalled something and shock took control over her, making her pause in her steps as she stared at the ceiling as if she was trying to look at something up there.

"Annalise?" Valerius called her in confusion as he too followed the line of her sight and looked at the vine covered ceiling.

Annalise hurriedly looked at Valerius as a bright smile broke out on her lips. "I think I know a place like that." She announced in full excitement which made her cerulean eyes sparkle.

"What?" Valerius appeared lost as he looked at her with questioning eyes.

Annalise hurriedly stepped closer to her husband and took hold of his hands as she announced, "What I mean is that... I know a place where I can find all such records. I’m sure I will be able to something really useful there. Just give me a few days to search for it."

Valerius studied her in silence for a while and the very small smile on his lips made it clear that he was actually amused at her excitement. "Is it another secret of this castle?" He asked after a while.

"You can say that." Annalise didn’t hide it as she was already feeling bad for keeping so many secrets from him and the others.

Valerius let out a small breath before he gave her head a very sweet pat. "Alright, then I will trust you with this task."
