Chapter 204: The Place That Shouldn’t Have Existed

Annalise let out a deep sigh for the nth time throughout the day as she suddenly looked up and found a grim sky staring back at her. Dark clouds were filling the entire sky with no hint of any sunlight, and while it seemed like it might rain anytime soon, she could tell that there won’t be one coming anytime soon.

Once again she realized that it was nothing other than her powers that were telling her about the exact possibility of the rain but she tried to not think about it too much. Just like mentioned before, she was neither ready nor willing to accept certain realities that had recently bombarded her peaceful and simple life.

People, or anyone who knew her, might consider her a coward for running away from these realities and ignoring them despite the fact that she kept facing them time and again, but their opinion could not make her change her plan.

She might be behaving like a stubborn kid who’s desperate to run from reality but she needed time to cope with everything that was going on in her life recently. And a couple of days was not enough days for her to get any peace or rest.

"When did you find out about this secret place?" She asked the little lion as her gaze moved to look at the magical bubble inside which all the little pixies were captured - another example of just how powerful her magic was.

Recently, she had been unconsciously performing powerful spells that she never actually practiced or learned before. It seemed like as long as she knew what she exactly wanted to do clearly in her mind, her powers performed the exact spell without her even needing to cast one.

After all this, she had no doubts that she had no ordinary magic and her powers also had nothing to do with her... parents, neither the Grand Duke nor the Grand Duchess had more than ten percent of Seelie bloodline when combined while Annalise alone held more than that but she wasn’t clear just how much.

The little snow lion jumped down from the rock and inched closer to her before taking a place on her lap as if the two of them hadn’t been questioning each other’s loyalty and bravery just a couple of moments ago.

"At the very same time I felt the energy surging beneath the castle. But unlike the basement where I slinked inside while one of the dark faes was going to check on the core, I wasn’t able to come anywhere near this place. There was no one who could take the ward down for me to enter." It answered her question truthfully.

Annalise looked around her surrounding as she wondered exactly what sort of magical place they were currently locked into. She tugged on her powers and felt them reacting to her summon immediately. She let her powers inspect through the area around her and found out exactly how far those lands were spread.

Several long moments passed in pure silence as her magic ran through the air of the magical sphere and tried to find exactly how big it was. The little lion sat silently in her lap as if it knew exactly what she was doing.

A loud gasp escaped her lips when her powers returned to her after surveying the magical sphere. "Impossible!" She let out the word once again as she was left stunned because of the magical sphere all over again.

If its presence inside one of the empty rooms in the castle was already not shocking enough then the fact that it was nearly as big as the capital city of their empire should really be enough to leave anyone stupefied.

"Even I wasn’t prepared for it." The little lion whispered as it let out a small sigh.

"Just what exactly is happening here? What is this place?" Annalise asked no one in particular but to her utter dismay, there was no one to answer her question.

"What are you planning to do now?" Little lion asked as it craned its little head to look up at her with questioning eyes.

Annalise thought for a while before she answered, "Maybe we should return and tell others about this place and see if any of them knows anything, especially the lords..." She trailed off by the end of the sentence as she realized that even she wasn’t satisfied with her idea.

"You seemed to have a change of heart." Her familiar stated as if noticing the sudden change of her mind about her idea of involving the lords or anyone else to solve the mystery of the magical sphere.

"Right, leaving this place and finding the others will take a lot of time. Besides, there is no guarantee that we will be able to enter this place again after leaving. We should think of something else." Annalise suggested as she picked up the little lion in her arms and stood up.

"This is a heavily protected place and a big one. Other than that, we can tell that this place was created a long time ago, probably thousands of years ago if we consider the protection spell that is guarding the entrance. The last thing, there is a huge amount of magical energy in this place." The little lion summarized all the details that it had garnered so far about the magical sphere.

From where they stood near the entrance, they could see nothing but a line of talk trees that appeared less like the start line of a forest and more like a barrier that was keeping the remaining portion of tge magical sphere hidden from their sight.

Both Annalise and the little snow lion took deep breaths at tge same time as they both buckled up to step farther into tge magical sphere, walked past those tall trees, and try their best to find out exactly what was going on with the deceptive place that shouldn’t have existed in the first place.
