Chapter 203: Catching Pixies
Chapter 203: Catching Pixies
"What in the world..." Annalise barely had anything to say about what her eyes were actually looking at. The view in front of her eyes was not what she was actually expecting when she entered into the room.
Her eyes followed her familiar who was jumping after the little pixies that were flying all around the room... No! Not a room... but the huge clearing in the middle of some sort of forest like place.
"How... how come there is a forest inside the room?" She asked no one in particular but her familiar still gave her an answer as it stopped bouncing around for a while and turned to look at her with its usual bored expression on its face which stated just how bored it was because of her naiveness.
"Master, how about you try some way to make your brain work in a better wayyYY!!" The little monster didn’t get the chance to continue as Annalise sent a ball of energy right at him.
"Master!" The little lion was very much unhappy with her stunt but Annalise didn’t care at all. She actually wanted to sent another energy ball aiming at the idiot because of how much it had troubled her throughout the entire past week.
"You should be happy that I haven’t killed you yet. You are the one who needs yo fix both its brain and mouth. And what the heck is going on here... and why are you jumping after these pixies?" She added the question when the little lion resumed jumping after the pixies when one of them tried to fly past them toward the direction from where she just stepped inside... or outside.
"Master, help me stop these pixies from getting out of this magical sphere. Your powers have taken down the spell that had been keeping this place locked, now these little seelies wants to go out. We need to stop them before it’s too..." The snow lion trailed off when it saw Annalise suddenly casting a spell that left all the twenty or something pixies locked inside a magical bubble.
It let out a sigh before taking a seat on top of a little rock nearby as its eyes searched their surrounding. It had been too preoccupied by the pixies from the very moment it entered this magical sphere that it barely got any chance to read the place.
A sharp shriek left its lips when its Master suddenly pulled its ear a little bit harshly before she started speaking, "Now you better start explaining. What is this place?"
The little snow had to use the entire force of its small body to pull itself out of its monster master’s clutches. It made sure to put some much-needed space between itself and its Master before replying to her dumb question, "How am I supposed to know the answer? Didn’t you just saw me entering right before you?" It didn’t even think twice before glaring at its so-called Master.
Annalise glared back at it in return as she spoke, "Then why were you jumping so stupidly to catch these pixies?" She asked next, still not giving up.
"Master, didn’t I just explain? The pixies were trying to get outside of this magical sphere and I was trying to stop them as it wasn’t safe for them to step in the outside world."
Annalise was silent for a while as she kept glaring at the little snow for a while before she let out a deep sigh and asked, "Why did you lie to me?" She didn’t explain what she was exactly talking about but looking at her fsmiliar’s face, it seemed like there was no need to that at all.
The snow lion didn’t answer immediately and for a moment, Annalise almost thought that she won’t be getting any response at all but then it spoke in a soft voice that was completely different from the aggressive and taunting personality that it usually carried around most of the time.
"What I did was for my own safety. Even though you became my new Master, you were nothing but a complete stranger to me who wanted to find one of the biggest secrets of the two realms and the Seelie Empire. Of course, I couldn’t just tell you everything just like that."
Annalise listened carefully to every word that her familiar was speaking.
"That was exactly why I used the idea of that non-existent spell to stall for sometime so that I could look into you and your actual motives. The moment we all reached this place, I took off to get away from your attention and look into your real identity and your motives behind your investigation of the Portal Hall incidents."
Annalise could hardly wrap her mind around what she was hearing. Such a small thing had such a serious thing planned so smoothly that she actually fell for its trap. "What did you find then?" She asked as she moved closer and took a seat on the ground right in front of had rock on which it was sitting.
"You are a good person... and a powerful one too..." There was a look in its eyes as it looked at her that she almost mistook as if it was feeling proud of her. But the look was gone just as quickly as it appeared and the little lion continued, "Actually, you all are very powerful and good people who are only trying your best to fight against the unknown enemy hiding in the dark."
Annalise took in the praise before she asked, "Then where have you been all his time? Hiding in the shadows to keep jour eyes on us?"
The little lion shook its head before answermng, "The moment I appeared here, I felt the powerful energy brewing underneath the castle. So I went to search through whatever secret lay beneath this building, only to find the very core of the protection ward and the main Portal leading to the Seelie Realm hidden here. I have been staying in the basement all this time to practice in the abundance of pure magic and also to wait for your summon that never actually came."
That last statement was undoubtedly a taunt that Annalise allowed to slip through once as did had much serious things to focus on instead of wasting the time in fighting with it. "So, are you going to tell me all about that you know of the Portal Hall incident?" She couldn’t help as her voice was filled with hope and so were her dyes ad she looked at the little thing.
The snow lion kept looking at her in silence for a moment or two before it tilted its head to the side a little bit and asked in return, "Do you think you are in snh state to put your focus on such things?"
Annalise squinted her eyes in confusion as she asked, "What do you mean to say?"
"Recently, you got to know a lot of things that are currently taking up all the place in your mind. I don’t think you are in any condition to focus on such important and serious matters when jour brain and heart are in denial to such important facts. And even these two had nothing to do with each other, you are in no way prepared to solve outside things when you can’t solve what’s wrong on the inside."
Annalise was completely taken aback as she once again found herself facing the exact things that she wanted to erase from her memories.
