Chapter 178: Invader
"Do you think something happened in the Palace? Is it the King?" Kenric asked the questions and his gaze was trained on none other than Valerius who shook his head before replying, "It’s definitely related to her visit to the palace but I can’t tell exactly what it is because she has shut me out."
"Another important aspect of our bonds that she has learned on her own," Damien commented with a little shake of his head but the little arch of his lips made it clear that he was pretty proud of her but then it disappeared just as soon as it had appeared when he confessed, "But she has shut me out too."
After his confession, he turned his attention to Kenric along with Valerius as both of them looked at their youngest brother in the hope to hear a positive response from him but it seemed like their dear wife believed in equality when it came to her love and trust toward all three of her husbands. There was no special treatment for anyone of them which meant that if she was going to shut one out, the other two would follow too.
Kenric let out a sigh before he stepped closer to the door and was about to knock when it flew open all of a sudden, taking all three of them a little aback. The three of them shared quick looks before hurriedly stepping inside the room right a second or two before the door shut close.
"There she is," Damien whispered as he noticed their wife sitting on the floor next to the bed with her back pressed against the bed. She was facing away from them and the bond was not allowing them to get a hold of her emotions which only made it hard for them to find exactly how she was feeling.
The three of them closed the distance between them and their wife and moved to finally see her face only to realize that her face was puffy, her cheeks were red as were her eyes that were brimming with punished tears and it seemed like she ahd been crying for a while already.
All three of them were next to her in a blink as they pulled her into their arms, making sure to surround her with their presence, strength, love, and warmth.
"Princess, allow us in," Damien whispered softly as he pulled her to sit on his lap while he took a seat on her spot with his back pressed against the bedside. Him being the only one with a complete soulmate bond with her gave him the privilege to be the one handling her in such a situation but it didn’t mean the others’ presence wasn’t needed there. She needed all three of them by her side.
Annalise only buried her face in his shoulder in response but didn’t do what he wanted, what all three of her husbands wanted.
Damien let out a sigh before he caught sight of Valerius who was moving to sit next to him before he reached out to pull Annalise’s face away from Damien’s shoulder and make her look right into his eyes as he spoke, "Please, Annalise, let us in, allow the bonds to let us feel your emotions." His voice was so soft that even Damien found himself melting at the amount of affection and care that his brother’s voice carried.
Annalise sobbed as she shook her head in denial to his request only to be stopped abruptly when she felt Kenric’s presence right behind her before he pressed his chest against her back and wrapped one of his hands around her shoulders and collarbone.
She felt his warm breath fanning her left ear before she heard his soft voice whispering, "It’s alright, Little Bird. We are right here for you. We won’t let anything bad happen to you. Trust us... please, love."
There was no denying that their constant efforts filled with nothing but comfort, warmth, love, and a promise to be there for her no matter what, were making Annalise feel like her walls were shattering, the same ones that she had built with great efforts after fumbling through the different privileges that came with a soulbond.
She looked into their eyes one by one and the only thing she found in them was their love for her, even in Damien’s though neither of them had confessed their feelings to each other so far. She felt the man brushing off the trails of tears that were staining her cheeks and it made her seek the comfort that his small touch was providing.
"I don’t want it to turn out true." She confessed while looking into Valerius’ eyes before turning toward Damien. She so desperately wanted to forget about the part where the King revealed about her not being the real daughter of the Grand Duke and the Grand Duchess.
"Ssh..." Valerius whispered as he cupped her face and pressed his forehead against hers while Damien and Kenric tightened their hold around her to show their support and comfort her.
"It’s alright, love. It’s alright. Let us share your pain." Valerius whispered as he placed a kiss on her forehead and at the very same time, she felt Damien’s lips trailing soft kisses all over her left cheek.
Kenric placed his lips right against the pulse thumping in the crook of her neck and finally, she was unable to hold those walls high anymore against her mates. The walls disappeared and allowed the bond to link her emotions back with the three dark lords, letting them feel what she had been feeling all this while.
But instead of just allowing them a sense of her emotions, she allowed them to glimpse into her thoughts and memories from her discussion with the King. She took down the walls all the way to tge bottom and left no barrier between them, once again putting her entire faith in the three of them as she left herself completely vulnerable to them.
Little did she know that another person was invading her memories and thoughts!
