The Veil of Darkness -
Chapter 165: Fire and Earth
Chapter 165: Fire and Earth
Dark crimson velvet drapes were covering hanging on most of the walls and in the area where they weren’t, Annalise found several paintings, wooden shelves, cupboards, and tables placed against them to fill the emptiness of the huge bed-chamber.
A huge vase was sitting on top of the table with some sort of dried spiritual herb decorated in it. The amount of earth element’s energy that it was radiating made it clear to her that the herb was more than just a decorative piece.
Aside from that, some other flower pots were sitting around the room with spiritual herbs growing in them, and as she picked on the presence of elemental energy inside the room, she realized that all the spiritual plants were related to fire or earth in one way or another.
A huge king-size bed was sitting on the left side of the room with similar velvet drapes hanging around it from the same center in the ceiling. The floor was covered in a thick red rug that appeared so soft that she wanted to take off her shoes and walk bare feet around the room.
"Do you like it?" Kenric asked in a soft voice as he kept his gaze fixed on her while she checked out the room with her keen eyes.
"Of course, I do! This is so beautiful... so you..." Annalise replied immediately as her eyes continued to inspect the room and she soon found herself asking, "The presence of your fire element is very evident here but what about your second element?" She finally turned to look at him as she waited for his response.
A small smile bloomed on Kenric’s lips as he closed the little distance between them and came to stand right next to her as he spoke, "My earth element is also right here. All you need to do is to search for it." His words were like a whisper next to her ear as he placed his hands on her waist and signaled her to do as he had just told her.
Annalise looked at him for a couple of seconds before she found herself closing her eyes and concentrating on her newly formed soulmate bond with him. The bond responded immediately, coming to life as his powers responded too.
She tried to put more of her focus on the task as she looked past his fire element and tugged on the earth element which responded like a lure to her Seelie fae blood. Once she was sure that she had a good hold over his earth, she finally opened her eyes and couldn’t hold back the gasp of pure surprise that left her mouth.
She found herself standing not in the bed-chamber but in a very beautiful garden, or more like a meadow, with tall trees looming around, bushes, shrubs, plants, flowers, small rocky mountain figures, and green grass that was reaching her knees.
A soft wind was blowing, carrying the faint scent of earth and fluttering her hair and clothes as she stood awestruck in her place with her gaze jumping around all over the places in her surroundings. "This..." She had no right word to say for what she was feeling at that moment.
She felt Kenric stepping right behind her before he pulled her into a back hug and murmured next to her ear, "This is my earth element, Little Bird." But what surprised her wasn’t exactly his words but the hint of surprise in his tone which made her turn to face him as she asked, "Why do you sound so surprised if it’s your earth element?"
Kenric’s gaze, which was observing the beautiful meadow, finally turned to look at her as he answered, "Because this is the first time I’m seeing this version of my earth element. It never showed me something this gorgeous and powerful ever before... only you..."
He didn’t finish but there wasn’t really something to say. It was already pretty clear - Annalise was the new favorite of his earth element.
"Well... I’m happy that I got to see such a beauty thanks to your earth element." She said while turning her attention back to the beautiful view around her.
The two of them stayed there in the meadow for a while before Kenric urged her to return to the real world as it was getting pretty late at night.
When Annalise opened her eyes again, she found herself once again standing in the same bed-chamber but this time, she felt the perfect balance between earth and fire elements present in the room, even though the appearance of the room hardly changed at all.
"How about you change and get ready for sleep, I’ll go and find Damien?" Kenric suggested as he conjured up one of her nightgowns for her to change into.
Annalise accepted the clothes and watched as the dark lord left the bed-chamber. She hurriedly closed the door and locked it before she started changing. She took off the jewelry first before taking off the heavy gown she was wearing. Next, she took off her chemise and her boots and socks.
The rug felt just as soft against her bare feet as she was imagining. Using a quick spell of refreshment to make her body feel more alive, she finally slipped on the soft silky dark blue nightgown that left most of her collarbone and her arms on full display. Still, this particular nightdress of hers wasn’t as scandalous as the couple of others that she had in her possession.
She used another spell to discard her clothes, jewelry, and boots from the room before she finally unlocked the door and left it open before heading toward the bed.
She just made it under the soft covers in the middle of the huge bed when she heard the voices of Kenric and Damien coming closer to the room. A couple of seconds later, the two entered the bed-chamber and she heard some sort of rustling of clothes, and then... both the men were joining her in the bed.
