Chapter 152: Guardian Divine Beasts
Chapter 152: Guardian Divine Beasts
"Why is she still here?" Annalise raised the question in front of her husbands when her gaze found Leela packing up for their journey back along with Ezra, Marley, and Crown Prince Elijah.
"She’s coming along," Damien answered as he took hold of her hand and pulled her to sit on his lap, a sudden action that made Annalise wary of her surrounding. "What are you doing, My Lord? There are so many people here."
Before Damien could reply, a sudden soft but powerful voice pulled Annalise’s attention toward Valerius, who was sitting right beside her with his attention fixed on some sort of a very ancient-looking scroll that he had been reading ever since they returned from the Palace an hour or so ago.
"Be more observant, Annalise." Valerius didn’t spare her even a single glance, but she knew that he was more of teaching her instead of criticizing her. Besides, it seemed like whatever scroll he was currently reading was something really important.
Listening to his advice, Annalise took a look around at her surroundings to see exactly what she had missed noticing while she was focused on Leela’s unexpected presence at the inn as the girl was supposed to have left for Lakeshire Town with the rest of the men from Sky Castle and Crown Princess Natalia.
It didn’t even take her too long to notice the presence of heavy magical energy in the air... a strong spell was surrounding her and the dark lords, keeping them hidden from tge prying eyes of those nearby.
She let out a sigh and relaxed in Damien’s arms, who immediately pulled her closer to his embrace and placed a soft feathery kiss against her temple as he whispered, "Since no one is looking at us now... am I allowed to do things..."
He didn’t get the chance to finish whatever dirty thoughts were running through his mind as a fluffy snowball suddenly jumped into Annalise’s arms and made Damien let out a loud curse as he almost sent the fluff ball flying against the opposite side of the room with his shadow powers.
"Easy, Damien. It’s her familiar; hurting it won’t end up good for you." Kenric reminded his brother as he came closer to pat the little lion and place a kiss on Annalise’s forehead before he took a seat nearby.
Annalise felt a part of her calming as the snow lion finally returned to her. "Where have you been all this time? Did you forget all about the task that I initially assigned you?" She questioned as she rubbed its soft ears, which undoubtedly made it happy.
’Master, you should choose your words wisely. Never call your familiar unfilial so lightly because the punishment for such a severe crime is anything but light.’ The little lion replied through their shared mind link.
"When did I call you unfilial? I was asking about your whereabouts." Annalise stared at the snow lion with a dumbfounded look on her face. While telling her not to accuse it without thinking properly, the little devil was blaming her for something she didn’t do at all.
Kenric snickered as he watched their interactions, finding her words funny even though he had next to no clue exactly what the little snow lion said to her through the mind link. On the other hand, Damien was just silently sitting with his arms still wrapped safely around her waist. As for Valerius, he seemed too lost in his scroll.
’Let’s forget about other things for now; I have something important to tell you, master.’ The sudden seriousness in the little lion’s words had Annalise straightening as she finally used tge mind link to ask - ’What is it?’
’Master, I did follow the girl to both the Portal Halls to find out what the dragon shifters found there, but now you already know about all those. Later on, I was caught up with something more important. That was why I couldn’t return to you immediately.’
"Is everything alright, Princess?" There was worry in Damien’s voice as he asked the question while pulling her attention toward him; his hold around her tightened as if on instincts.
Annalise quickly moved one of her hands to cup his face as she slowly shook her head before replying, "Everything is alright, My Lord. It’s the little lion that wants to tell me about something important."
"We are here with her, brother. She is totally safe. Stop being so on edge." Kenric added as he gave Damien a soft pat on the shoulder.
The second dark lord finally let out a small sigh before he finally nodded his head and just snuggled his face in the crook of Annalise’s neck. "Alright, go ahead to listen to whatever your familiar has to tell you. Just let me hold you for a while." He whispered against the side of her neck, causing his warm breath to tickle her skin and almost cause her to forget about things that were way more important than the soft sweet sparks that the man and his actions were causing inside and all over her body.
Annalise returned her attention to her familiar only to listen to it complain in a very unhappy tone - ’He’s way too clingy. Can’t you replace him?’
She stared at the furball with her jaw hanging open while she was really happy that Damien hadn’t heard its words. Only stars knew what sort of calamity would have happened if the second dark lord would have heard the chosen words that the little lion just used to describe him.
’Stop speaking nonsense! Tell me what important thing you have to discuss with me.’ She was quick to pull herself out of her trance and immediately turned her attention to the important topic the little lion wanted to talk about.
Her familiar also seemed to return to serious mode as he didn’t beat around the bush anymore and just stated directly - ’It’s about the guardian divine beasts of the other portals.’
