The Veil of Darkness -
Chapter 147: A Bold Request
Chapter 147: A Bold Request
A soulmate, is someone who challenges you to be better, someone who can’t stand seeing you sad, someone who stays faithful, loyal, and committed to you, and someone who helps take care of you when you are sick. Someone who stands by your side through the good days and bad days, and someone who wants to grow old with you and spend eternity with you.

Annalise had no idea how long she had been feeding on Damien’s blood at this point but his blood seemed to fill her entirely in so many different ways. Her energy level was almost back to full, there was no longer any sort of pain making her suffer, and most important among all these was the soul bond that was flourishing with pure warmth and affection.
She felt Damien’s hand moving over her nape before his fingers tightened their hold and made her stop. "No matter how much you love my blood, you can’t consume too much at a time, Princess. You need to stop now."
Annalise let out a groan to show her reluctance but still found herself obeying as she swiped her tongue across the puncture marks on his skin before pulling away completely.
"Good girl." Damien praised her with a proud smile on his face as he helped her to adjust herself in a more comfortable position in his arms.
Annalise let out a small sigh and closed her eyes to allow her body some much-needed rest as she had suddenly started feeling sleepy which was probably because of Damien’s blood that was spreading through her arteries and reaching every remote part of her body and creating a sensation that was both so unfamiliar but yet too good to be ignored.
It was like his blood was mixing with hers and creating something purely amazing inside her.
"You should sleep for a while," Damien advised her as he brushed his fingers through her hair, making her feel even more compelled to sleep.
"Leela..." Annalise tried to tell him how the girl was still out there tailing Ezra and his men who were on their way to the Palace, according to what they said before leaving the inn, and that she needed to follow them too but the second dark lord silenced her with a soft sushing sound.
"Don’t worry about the child, Snowball is out there and it will manage to keep both of them protected just fine. So, you should stop worrying about anything and just rest."
Annalise wanted to point out that Leela was anything but a child but then she was suddenly reminded that the man was a dark fae who was centuries old, compared to him, Leela was indeed a child.
Letting out a small sigh, she snuggled her face in his chest and found herself slowly drifting toward a dreamless sleep.

Lakeshire Town
Mer Court...
~
Kenric watched his eldest brother talking with the Mer Queen, the latter two had been discussing about the Magical Ward of the Seelie Realm ever since Valerius returned to the Court an hour or so ago.
On the other hand, his attention was divided between the discussion going on between Valerius and the Mer Queen, and his wife that was finally back to normal condition after consuming Damien’s blood.
He flicked his fingers and the magical mirror changed its target from Annalise and Damien to Leela and Ezra along with the latter’s team. It seemed like one of Ezra’s men indeed headed to the Mortal Palace to deliver a message to the King from the Dragon Princess. On the other hand, Ezra and the rest of his men had already reached the Portal Hall which appeared way more well-maintained compared to the one in Millerville City.
Leela was following the group of men as quietly as possible and the little snow lion was following the former two in even more sneaky way. Even after being a divine beast, it was able to morph into the nonexistent shadows, probably a perk of living with dark energy in its body for so long.
Kenric’s attention was pulled away from mirror and toward the conversation going on between Valerius and the Queen.
"... about the second core of the Portal?" The Queen was asking.
"I’m aware of it. There have always been rumors about a second core of the Magical Ward existing somewhere and if we really need to strengthen the ward, we will need to make sure the second core is also reinforced with new spells and extra power." Valerius replied with a respectful yet commanding tone.
"The second core has always been under the retention of Midnight Realm. I’m sure you will take good care of it." The Queen stated and Valerius responded with a slight nod. "What are you going to do now?" She asked further.
Valerius took a deep breath before he turned his attention at Kenric and then took a glance at the mirror. A second or two later, he finally turned his attention back to the Queen and answered, "The case of the Portal Halls is indeed too complicated. Since our wife has decided to investigate this case, we will accompany her. That’s why we both would like to take our leaves."
Kenric quickly disconnected the magical mirror and made sure that no one would be able to link the mirror back to any of his brothers or Annalise. Once he was done, he made his way to his brother and bowed to the Queen who had a small smile playing on her lips indicating that she was fully aware of the stunt that he had just pulled.
"It was nice meeting you all and working together to do something good for our realms. The Mer Court will always be keen to help in the fight against our enemy." The Queen’s words were more like a promise from the entire mer clan, a pledge to fight against the darkness together.
Valerius and Kenric were ready to take their leaves but the former suddenly stopped in his tracks and spoke to the Queen. "Can I be bold enough to make a request?"
