Chapter 132: Dragon Wish Jewels

"What are they searching for? It doesn’t seem like the person who tried to trespass in the Sky Castle." Leela commented as she and Annalise watched the group of men who seemed to be in a very bad mood.

Annalise also had the same question swirling in her brain - what exactly were these men looking for? Were they also investigating the incident of the Portal Halls? But then what it had to do with the trespasser they said they were searching for because they didn’t lie about that part of the reason behind their sudden appearance in Lakeshire.

"What are we going to do now? Are we going to continue tailing the trespasser?" One of the men asked Ezra while the others also looked at their leader to issue the next command.

Annalise and Leela watched as Ezra shook his head in response to the question before speaking, "There’s no point in chasing that person, we won’t be able to catch him." He sounded absolute as he said that which not only surprised the two females but also his own companions.

"What are you trying to say, Ezra? Make it clear for us to understand." Another one of the men spoke this time and Ahe seemed to be the only one among the other three men who was calling Ezra by his name.

Ezra let out a deep sigh before he turned to face the portal that was located on the other side of the hall. "The person who tried to trespass into Sky Castle..." He took a break there for a second or two to get everyone’s utmost attention toward him before he continued. "He left a message for His Majesty before running away."

"A message?" One of his companions voiced out the words in pure confusion as they all looked at Ezra with questioning eyes, including Annalise and Leela who were quite happy to finally gain some information.

Ezra nodded his head as he responded, "Right, a message. It stated that the Dragon Wish Jewels are in danger."

His words were followed by loud gasps of surprise and it was not only the rest of the men who were taken aback by this certain piece of information but also Annalise and Leela who immediately recognized the term - Dragon Wish Jewels.

It’s a great legend of the Dragons that the first three elemental dragon princes - ice, fire, and thunder, converted their lifelong elemental powers into nine divine magic balls and handed them over to the next heir of the dragons. Throughout the centuries, these elemental power balls had been passed down to the new generation of the royal family and were known as the legendary Dragon Wish Jewels.

"Right, I just recalled. Out of the nine Wish Jewels, six were used to guard the natural portals between the four realms along with the ancient divine beasts. After the destruction of the Primordial Realm and the Seelie Realm, the portals joining the other two realms with them were also shut down and it was rumored that the then dragon king took away the Dragon Wish Jewels guarding those portals. After that, there have been only three Wish Jewels guarding the three main portals between the Midnight Realm, Mortal Realm, and the Seelie Empire."

Leela provided the information to Annalise that she had about the famous Dragon Wish Jewels. Their attention was then once again pulled toward the group of men as they had started speaking again.

"We didn’t find the first half of the Wish Jewel here. Does it mean someone has really stolen the Jewel?" One of the men raised the question as he shared a worried look with one of his partners.

"This portal joins the Seelie Empire with the Midnight Realm and there are rumors out there that something happened here a couple of decades ago. Was that when the jewel disappeared?" Ezra voiced out the question but he wasn’t really asking someone as no one there seemed to have an answer for him, only more questions to add to the pile.

"But why did the royal family wasn’t notified if such an important jewel got stolen? Shouldn’t there be a way to know if the jewels are safe or not?" Another question was raised and it seemed like Ezra had an answer for it.

"That’s because each jewel protecting these Portal Halls is divided into two parts. One part guards the opening of the portal in one realm while the guards the second opening in another realm. It seems like in this case, only the first part of the jewel has been stolen from here because there has been no news about any sort of disturbance in the Portal Hall of the Midnight Realm."

His theory did explain some things but there were still many questions that needed answers to finally sort out exactly what was going on. "Do you think the jewel was stolen by the same person who attacked this portal hallmark then?" One of the men asked.

"We can only make guesses. But there’s a way we can confirm this theory. A while ago, there was also news about the Portal Hall of the Mortal Realm getting attacked, we can go there and check if the jewel is there or not." Ezra told his subordinates who finally seemed a little bit more energetic to finally have a plan.

"And what about that trespasser who left the message?"

A smile bloomed on Ezra’s lips after hearing the question from one of his companions but there was barely any humor in that smile as he replied, "That person was just a messenger. Someone wanted to bring our attention to this major case and they have succeeded as the Sky Castle won’t sit idly when the Wish Jewels have disappeared."

"So, are they a friend or a foe?"

"Just because they informed us about the missing jewel doesn’t mean they are our friends. Who knows if we are just a pawn in their game? We need to inform the higher-ups about all this." Ezra stated and all his subordinates nodded their heads in agreement.

They did need to inform the Dragon lord about the missing jewel before continuing their investigation. Besides, there were chances that they would need extra forces too. Who knew what sort of problems they would face during the investigation?

Annalise and Leela quickly made their way into their room and after closing the door, they hurriedly dispelled the invisibility and silence spells before taking off their cloaks and shoes and burying themselves under the blanket.

Right a couple of seconds later, they heard the door of their room creaking open and neither of them needed to open their eyes to know who was spying on them in the middle of the night.

"They are still fast asleep." One of the men whispered to others before he closed the four and the sound of their footsteps scurrying away could be heard through their enhanced hearing through the silence of the night.

Neither Annalise nor Leela moved even after several long moments passed. It was ages later when Leela finally couldn’t hold herself and moved into a sitting position on the bed while facing Annalise. "What now?"

Annalise opened her eyes and also moved to sit while facing the girl as she replied, "Why don’t you contact your Queen and tell her about what we have just found. Let’s see what Her Majesty has to say."

She also wanted to contact her husbands but no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t open the mind link between herself and Damien while she still has to construct mind links with her other two husbands.

"Of course," Leela muttered as she seemed to realize something as she hurriedly scurried out of the bed and moved to one of the farther corners of the room to talk to her queen.

On the other hand, Annalise tried to sort out all the new information that just got revealed to them. Someone intentionally directed the Sky Castle to the attacked Portal Halls using their sacred Dragon Wish Jewels as bait but just like Ezra mentioned, it was too early to decide if it was a friend or a foe sitting behind the curtains while using the pawns of his set game to win the prize.

Then, there was also the matter of whether the disappearance of the jewel from the Millerville Portal Hall was related to the attack that happened there two decades ago or if it was something totally different from that incident. They would surely know the answer if they would search the Portal Hall in the Mortal Realm because it couldn’t be just a mere coincidence that two jewels disappeared from two Portal Halls that got attacked mysteriously out of the blue.

However, there was a problem - if she needed to find out whether the case of the disappearance of the Wish Jewel was related to the case of Portal Hall incidents, she had to follow Ezra and his companions to the Mortal Realm. But then what about her husbands?
