Chapter 129: A Letter from Damien

Chapter 129: A Letter from Damien

Annalise waited inside the room while Leela and Little Snow Lion were out on their missions to find out exactly what the men from the Sky Castle were cooking up behind the closed doors of their room.

Since she had nothing else to do and too much to think about, she decided to utilize the time while searching for a proper spell to get herself linked to the little lion’s memories. She looked through the books and scrolls that she brought with her on the trip and found the spell book that Valerius personally chose for her as there were many easy but powerful and useful spells in that book that he thought would be perfect for her to begin her learning from.

As her slender fingers ran over the thick cover of the book, she suddenly found herself thinking about her husbands. She wondered if the Mer Queen had told them about her leaving the Lakeshire or not.

A sigh left her mouth as she shook her head to get rid of the thoughts of her husbands and focus on the important matters that she had to solve if she needed to return to her soulmates and finally back to her home.

Since she had already read quite a portion of the spell book, she didn’t need to search for that particular spell from the very beginning, instead, she started from where she hadn’t read yet. Several minutes later, she was still busy searching when she suddenly felt a tug on her Moon Thread.

Her head immediately shot up as she looked around the room, her heartbeat rising as her soul registered the presence of one of her husbands somewhere nearby.

A knock on the window of her room had her running toward it as she immediately pulled it open without thinking twice but then, she didn’t really need to think considering her bond with Damien was suddenly overflowing with life as he finally returned to her.

Imagine the surprise she got when she found only a piece of parchment sitting on the window sill instead of her husband. She hurriedly looked sideways and down the alley but there was no human in sight, only the parchment.

She opened the parchment and found a pouch sitting in the center. She took the pouch and put it aside before reading the words that were written on the paper.

-

The Mer Queen informed us about your departure from Lakeshire with Leela as you both are following the men from the Sky Castle to find out what actually happened in the lands of the dragons.

There is so much that we need to tell you and also many things that you have to explain to us... and we will do it once we all will reunite after finishing our respective tasks.

That pouch is a little gift from your husbands, use them wisely.

The three of us will be waiting for your return to Lakeshire. Stay out of trouble, Princess.

Also, don’t trust those men from the Sky Castle too much. Their identities aren’t simple nor the reason for their appearance in the Seelie Empire. Beware of their lies!

~

Annalise reread the letter a couple of more times before she finally turned her attention back to the outside world as she looked outside the window and realized that even though her shared bonds with both Valerius and Damien were still thrumming with energy, none of those two were anywhere close to her, even Damien’s presence was no longer strong meaning that he was probably on his way back.

According to the letter, all three of her husbands must be waiting in Lakeshire for her return while they completed their own important work in the meanwhile.

She suddenly felt the absence of the third bond that would have linked her to Kenric. However, the two of them still had to find that balance between themselves and their powers. She promised herself to find a way to connect to his earth powers to initiate a mate bond with him as soon as she would return to Lakeshire. She didn’t like the fact that she had no connection with him.

She closed the window and the first thing she did after that was to get rid of the letter by burning it from one of the candles that were lit around the room. Even though her heart hurt but she knew that destroying it was the best decision.

She then took a seat on the edge of the bed and opened the pouch to look at the items inside. The first thing she found was another spell book but this one appeared way older and harder than the one that she was currently reading.

Next were some potions and elixirs and... poisons. There was also a small note explaining what each elixir, potion, or poison was used for and how could she use them without hurting herself.

The next thing that she found inside the pouch was a moonstone that made a soft smile bloom on her lips. Her history with Moonstones was really rich even though it only went back as far as a month.

The last thing in the pouch was a dagger that appeared too sharp for her to even touch. The handle was built of some kind of old wood with mysterious runes carved on it. As for the blade, it appeared to be made of obsidian, a crystal that could easily hurt even the most powerful magic user when used smartly.

Looking at all the items, she could tell which of her husband sent her which items. The spell book and the elixirs, potions, and poisons, undoubtedly belonged to Valerius. The moonstone was from Kenric as she knew that he had a lot of those in his possession.

The dagger was from both Kenric and Damien. The obsidian and the wood had their shadow powers while the dagger as a whole carried the essence of the third dark lord. Besides, she knew pretty well that among all three of her husbands, daggers were Kenric’s favorite.
