Chapter 80: I killed Eugene

Alora opened her eyes with a smile on her face and tilted her head to look at Magnus, but to her surprise, he wasn’t there beside her.

Confused, she sat up and stretched her arms, wondering if Magnus had woken up earlier than her. As she got out of bed and tied the knots on her dress, she slipped on her slippers. Taking the robe and wearing it, she went out only to find Magnus seated on the couch of the seating area.

However, she found him silent, as if lost in deep contemplation. Alora approached him and called out his name in her soft tone.

Her eyes spotted the blood on his hands, and she quickly dropped to her knees, gently taking Magnus’s hands in hers. "What happened? Why are your hands..." she trailed off as she met his gaze. His eyes were dark red, filled with an unfamiliar, agonized emotion.

Alora remained on her knees, her hand reaching out to gently caress Magnus’s cheek. "What happened? Why are you like this? And why didn’t you wake me?" she asked, concern evident in her voice.

"I killed Eugene and his family," Magnus replied with a smirk. "In doing so, I’ve challenged the King," he added, with a bitter chuckle.

Alora knew Magnus didn’t joke with her. He truly killed all of them. But, why? Her eyes turned watery as she felt scared inside. What exactly happened that he had to do that?

"Eugene said something, which made me decide that he shouldn’t live anymore. Do you hate me for doing that?" Magnus questioned as he moved his cheek on her palm.

"No. I can never hate you," Alora truthfully told him. "I think the reason must be a big one that Prince Magnus decided to do it," she asserted. "However, going against the King wasn’t wise."

Alora pulled up Magnus and took him to the washroom to clean his hands. She was scared inside thinking that a fight would break out between the vampires and the werewolves.

"Please sit here," Alora made him sit beside the bathtub on a stool. As Magnus listened to her, she brought a barrel of water and grabbed his hands to wash them.

Magnus affectionately looked at her and let her wash his hands.

"Your Highness, what happened last night?" Alora asked as she wiped the blood off his fingers. "Why didn’t His Highness wake me up?"

"Eugene went to your house to take Venus to his pack," Magnus answered.

Alora’s fingers stopped and she met his gaze.

"A lot of things happened. My father played well by giving a command to Eugene, which he showed off to me. However, as per my promise to you, I made sure Venus won’t be taken out of the Wilson Residence," Magnus stated.

Alora peered into his eyes while being speechless. "Magnus, what Eugene did do that you decided to kill him? You know that you’ll be blamed," she said with a worried expression.

"For what? He broke the rules first. And I hardly leave anyone unpunished, who annoys me," Magnus stated.

"What if Venus blames you?" Alora suddenly asked her.

"For taking that bastard’s life? I didn’t kill him because of her. I killed him because he said..." Magnus paused as he didn’t wish to tell Alora what Eugene called her.

"Please finish the words," Alora said.

"Nothing. You should freshen up. I’ll see you soon," Magnus asserted, gesturing to her to leave.

She shook her head and said, "I want to hear the truth. The King will summon you soon because the news will spread out. At least, I should know the matter to defend you." The concern in her eyes grew for him.

"Eugene would have created troubles for us in the future," Magnus replied, still reluctant to disclose Eugene’s disrespectful remarks about Alora. He could bear anything but disrespect towards her.

"Did Eugene say something about me?" Alora inquired. "Magnus, you mustn’t take a life for my sake. It’s not justifiable," she insisted.

"That won’t happen. Because you’re right, you deserve protection. I don’t need individuals like Eugene around who fail to grasp your worth to me. I’ve said it countless times—I’d take on the whole world for you," Magnus declared solemnly.

**Flashback Starts**

After Magnus asked Izaak if he would return late, he went straight behind Eugene.

Upon reaching Eugene’s house, Magnus stopped him.

"Why was His Highness following me?" Eugene asked.

"Because you said something about Alora, which I absolutely hated," Magnus retorted firmly.

Eugene advanced, demanding, "What did I say?"

Magnus’s expression hardened and a dark expression formed on his grimace. "Prince Magnus is well aware that Alora doesn’t deserve to live. What I mentioned about her was justified. Her eyes should be gouged out, and I’ll ensure the King orders it," Eugene declared smugly.

"Repeat that if you dare!" Magnus challenged, his voice steely.

"Seems Prince Magnus’ hearing is lacking," Eugene sneered. "Didn’t he hear me perfectly well?" He chuckled, confident that Magnus wouldn’t dare to harm him within the werewolves’ territory.

Magnus fed up with Eugene’s insolence, seized his throat firmly. "Eugene, it’s time for you to take a nap," Magnus growled, tightening his grip.

Eugene felt his windpipe constricting dangerously when his father intervened, coming to his rescue. However, Magnus, fueled by determination, forcefully cast Eugene aside with his immense strength.

He had resolved to terminate this family, recognizing that their continued existence would only bring further trouble for him and Alora.

**Flashback Ends**

"Your Highness, promise me that you will not defend me today in front of the King," Alora stated after hearing the flashback.

"Why?" Magnus frowned to hear her.

"Because I don’t want you to be blamed. Let me carry that sin. Please," Alora requested.

"Why do you think it is a sin?" Magnus questioned her. "Let’s suppose it is a sin, then let me have that sin. Alora isn’t born to carry any sin. She is born with a bigger purpose, which makes her sit above all of us," Magnus said with a smile.

"You don’t know my father and mother. To get rid of you, they planned this. Eugene should not be given permission to take Venus away. Father began this rift and I only ended it in a better way," Magnus proclaimed.
