The Vampire Prince's Blindfolded Bride -
Chapter 79: To bear the responsibility
Chapter 79: To bear the responsibility
Norman didn’t want Magnus to go against the wish of the King since it could affect the Wilson Family first then the prince himself. So, he decided to intervene this time to end this fight in an amicable way.
"Eugene, let’s find the middle way. Fighting in the middle of the night isn’t a good way," said Norman in his humble tone.
"This can end if you hand over Venus to me," Eugene said, glaring into the eyes of Magnus.
"Try taking her out of this house," Magnus challenged him. He promised Alora that he would not let Venus get harmed and for that, he could go to any lengths, even against his own father.
"Your Highness, please calm down," Norman said as he went to Magnus. "The King may punish my family for going against his command. Please understand," he asserted and then, he looked at Eugene.
"Your betrayal cannot be forgotten. Still, we have been humbled. You can’t take Venus away on the pretext that she belonged to your clan. I’ve been told how you are ready to take your mistress home, who is supposedly your mate. Every fact will be presented before the King and then, the decision will be made tomorrow," Norman proclaimed, showing him that the humans still held the authority.
Izaak wanted to end this in a friendly manner too. "Eugene, I stand with Mr. Wilson’s words. You need to go back. Tomorrow, let’s meet the King for the final decision. The vampires and the werewolves do not wish to get into a battle because of some humans. You know well who will be victorious in this battle," Izaak stated, trying to soothe the heated situation.
Eugene contemplated for a moment and agreed to Norman. "Prince Magnus, I will make sure to take Venus with me. I would like to see how Princess Alora stops me. I will make sure her eyes are taken off before that," he said with a smirk in a low voice and walked past him. He ordered his wolves to leave and they left the Wilson’s Residence.
Magnus seethed with anger towards his father’s actions. As he prepared to depart, Norman implored him to keep Alora out of the conflict. "I cannot tolerate any harm to my family, Your Highness. I pray that tomorrow she does not appear in the King’s court," Norman expressed, placing blame on Alora instead of Venus.
Enraged, Magnus seized Norman by his robe, drawing him close. Rhea and Elliot watched in terror as Magnus revealed his fangs for the first time.
"Blame your daughter. Do you think you would be saved tonight? It is all because of Alora that I have to keep you alive. You are her father too, so act like one," Magnus stated. He let him go only when Rhea requested him. Without waiting for another second, he left the mansion followed by Izaak, Gabriel and Odin.
Following behind the prince, Gabriel urged Izaak to halt Magnus and suggested they take the carriage to the palace residence instead.
"It’s the peak hour of the Blood Moon. Let Magnus walk; otherwise, he might resort to hunting humans," Izaak whispered. Gabriel fell silent, his gaze fixed on Magnus’s back.
Izaak matched Magnus’s stride, conveying a message. "Alora’s father resents her involvement in Venus’s affairs. Ensure she understands to keep her distance," he advised.
"I’m considering ending Norman’s life. He’s unworthy of living. Since I’ve known him, he’s harbored nothing but malice towards Alora," Magnus declared, his eyes darkening to a deeper shade of red. Izaak noticed how the veins around Magnus’s eyes appeared. He was gaining his true Vampire form and it was best to take Magnus back to the residence as soon as possible.
Magnus suddenly paused, causing the three of them to halt as well.
"I have important work to finish," Magnus said. Before Izaak could stop him, Magnus disappeared from his eyes. Izaak thought to go after him since Magnus was not in his right mind anymore and he feared that he might kill Eugene in the process.
"Go back!" Izaak ordered Gabriel and Odin before rushing after his brother.
"Magnus, where are you?" Izaak murmured, his voice barely audible in the thick fog that enveloped the dense woods. He pressed forward, his footsteps crunching on broken twigs beneath his boots, the sound echoing in the eerie silence of the forest. Despite the growling of werewolves nearby, he kept searching for his brother.
"Not now," Izaak muttered, rolling his eyes as he came face to face with a werewolf standing before him, its blood-red eyes fixed on him, poised for attack.
Izaak’s own eyes dilated as he unleashed his power, instilling fear in the werewolf. The wolf whimpered, taking a step back before fleeing into the darkness.
"I’ll have to reprimand Magnus for trespassing into werewolf territory," Izaak muttered, continuing on his path. He was determined to locate his brother and remove him from the situation before Magnus caused any further trouble.
However, despite an hour of searching, he couldn’t find Magnus anywhere. With a sense of resignation, he returned to the residence, hoping that Magnus would eventually return to the palace on his own.
Izaak sank into the living room couch, one knee raised while the other lay flat. He stared up at the ceiling, his thoughts swirling. "That’s why I never wanted Magnus to be involved with a human. Whatever he does tonight, Alora will have to bear the responsibility," he murmured to himself, a sense of concern evident in his voice.
Izaak closed his eyes, and suddenly, a vision related to Alora appeared before him. His breath caught in his throat as he witnessed Alora’s naked eyes in the vision—blue, deep, and as mesmerizing as the ocean.
"Magnus, I saved Izaak," Alora’s voice echoed in his mind.
Izaak exhaled deeply as he finally opened his eyes and sat up straight. "What was that?" he murmured to himself, feeling a sense of unease lingering within him, knowing that he had experienced something out of the ordinary.
