Chapter 56: Your eyes bother me

Chapter 56: Your eyes bother me

"I think Brother Izaak only said it causally. Please don’t upset yourself on that," Alora said and sat next to Magnus. She held his hand and began caressing it. "I will allow His Highness to turn me into a vampire after some time," she asserted with a smile.

"That’s not the reason why I’m upset at Izaak," Magnus pulled away his hand.

"Oh, then why?"

"Nothing," Magnus said and asked her if he had her lunch.

"No. I was studying. I practiced all the people’s names I know. It was fun," Alora stated with a shiny smile. "Also, Your Highness, I’m not hungry at the moment. Instead, I’ve something to show you," she said and pulled him up. He followed her to the study room. As Alora moved to the desk, she picked up the notebook and showed what she had drawn.

"You know painting?!" Magnus was mesmerized to see what she had drawn. It was his facial portrait in her eyes. He had seen many paintings all these years, but none attracted him. However, what Alora drew showed her love for him.

"How is it?" Alora asked.

"Beautiful. I’ve never seen anything like this before," Magnus replied.

Alora came to him and handed the painting to him. "His Highness can keep it," she stated. "I will ask Tobias for more colors. I think I’ll do this in my free time."

"Sure. We can go to the market to buy art related stuff for you if you want," Magnus opined. Though he could order the art supplies to be delivered in the palace, but he thought taking her out would be more fun.

"I don’t want to people to be in discomfort because of me," Alora stated.

"Hmm." Magnus felt he needed to find the divine lady soon to bring comfort to Alora. But he kept delaying his plans because of some petty works. Now, the blood moon was near, he had to further delay it.

"Your Highness, you don’t have to feel low about my eyes. I feel happier around you, so other joys are nothing in front of the time I spend with you," she stated. Holding his hand, she took him back to the chamber, where Tobias was already present.

"Gabriel is here, Your Highness," he informed Magnus.

"I’ll be back soon," Magnus said and left to see Gabriel.

"What could be the matter?" Alora thought and sat on the sofa. She looked at the basket, which was on the table. "Oh, is this what Brother Alaric left for me?" She grabbed the basket and checked the two boxes. A smile tugged on her lips seeing the cookies and pies in them. She ate one from each of the boxes and closed them.

"Alora, may I come inside?" A voice landed in her ears and she found it was of Izaak. She looked for her blindfold, but couldn’t find it.

"My eyes aren’t covered," Alora said in a loud voice.

"Just keep your gaze low," Izaak asserted.

"Sure. You may come in," Alora allowed him. She put the basket on the table and waited for Izaak to sit down.

"Did you feel upset for what I said earlier?" Izaak inquired.

"Uh– No," Alora promptly replied and found him seating in front of her on the sofa chair. "I don’t mind Brother Izaak’s words," she continued.

Alora sensed the eldest prince came to talk about Magnus. "I will ask Prince Magnus to not act coldly with his brother," she gave him an assurance. However, she had no idea whether Magnus would forgive Izaak or not.

"His cold attitude toward me doesn’t matter to me. What matters is that you need to make sure you find an answer to your eyes. That way my brother will be safer from the pressure he would receive soon from the elders," Izaak pronounced.

Perplexed Alora didn’t know how to respond to it. She simply nodded at his words.

"I’ve nothing against you, Alora. But your eyes bother me," Izaak stated. "I take my leave. Enjoy the cookies," he muttered and walked away.

"Didn’t Prince Izaak say he was my friend, then why he has to say it?" Alora complained to herself and brought the cookie to her mouth.
