Chapter 410: Dreams have come true, Alora
"Really?" Alora’s mood shifted instantly, her smile broadening with delight. The hunger that had gnawed at her moments ago vanished completely, replaced by a surge of pure happiness.
"Yes, Your Highness," Tobias confirmed with a respectful nod. "It may very well explain your current condition. Unlike most vampires, Your Highness rarely feels the thirst for blood. I believe this could be a sign of the changes taking place within your body," he added confidently.
Magnus’s heart raced with excitement, the thrill of becoming a father filling him with an unexpected warmth. "Let’s have Alora examined immediately. Summon the Royal Physician," he ordered.
Tobias hurried off to carry out his command, leaving Magnus to gently guide Alora toward the bedchamber. Once seated on the plush mattress, she began to fidget with her fingers, her mind buzzing with anticipation, uncertainty, and excitement.
The Royal Physician arrived promptly, bowing respectfully to Magnus before beginning his examination. His movements were swift yet precise, ensuring that no detail was overlooked.
"The Queen is on her way," Tobias informed the prince, then quietly exited the chamber. Before leaving, he sent a female servant inside, should Alora require any assistance.
It wasn’t long before Queen Margaret entered, her presence commanding yet graceful. She cast a glance between Magnus and Alora, her expression unreadable but calm. The Royal Physician rose from his seat to greet her. "I will begin the examination shortly, Your Majesty," he said, his tone composed.
Margaret’s gaze softened as it fell on Alora. "You’ll need to change into different attire for the examination," she gently instructed, her eyes shifting to the servant Tobias had sent. "Assist the Princess," she added before turning her attention to Magnus. "Magnus, you should wait outside."
Magnus, however, remained steadfast. "I’ll stay here, Mother. Alora is my wife, and she may need me by her side," he replied in a respectful yet firm tone.
Margaret considered his words before nodding slightly. "Very well. You may stay."
With that, Alora made her way to the dressing chamber, the servant following closely behind to assist her as she prepared for the examination.
After ten minutes, Alora returned dressed in more comfortable attire, her expression calm but curious. The Royal Physician gestured for her to lie down, and once she was settled, he nodded to the servant to roll up her sleeve.
He had prepared a white solution, a unique discovery in the vampiric world that could confirm pregnancy. The method was simple yet precise: a small sample of the female vampire’s blood would be drawn with a needle and introduced into the solution. If the liquid turned dark brown, it was a certain sign of pregnancy.
Unlike humans, the changes within a vampire’s body were rapid, with blood being the first to exhibit visible signs, followed closely by changes in the skin. The physician carefully drew a drop of Alora’s blood, letting it fall into the white solution. All of them then waited for the result.
The room grew still as the white solution began to shift, darkening until it became a deep brown.
"Your Majesty, Your Highness, Princess Alora is indeed pregnant," the Royal Physician announced with a smile.
Alora gasped, her hand flying to her mouth in disbelief. "I’m going to be a mother!" she whispered, quickly sitting up. Her eyes immediately sought Magnus, who was already by her side.
They embraced tightly, overwhelmed with happiness. "We’re going to have a child," she murmured into his chest, tears of joy spilling down her cheeks. Alora’s life had taken a beautiful turn since Magnus had come into it—a life she had only ever dreamed of, now unfolding before her eyes.
Magnus gently cupped her face, wiping away the tears that streaked her cheeks with his thumbs. "Why are you crying?" he asked softly, though he already understood her emotions before she could even speak. "Yes, it’s all real. Your dreams have come true, Alora," he reassured her with a tender smile before placing a soft kiss on her forehead.
"After so many years, such joyous news has finally arrived," Margaret said, her voice warm with emotion as she approached the bed. "Alora, you have given this family everything it lacked," she added, her eyes shining with pride and affection.
Magnus stood up, stepping aside to allow his mother to shower Alora with the tender affection only a mother could give. Margaret gently patted Alora’s head before pulling her into a soft, loving embrace.
"No more tears, my dear," Margaret whispered as she cradled Alora’s face, wiping away the lingering moisture on her cheeks. "From now on, you must take extra care of yourself. Plenty of rest, hearty meals every day, and make sure to nourish both yourself and the little one growing inside you. And yes," she said, glancing at Magnus with a knowing smile, "Magnus will take you for walks. Gentle movement is important for the easy and healthy birth of the child."
She continued, her tone filled with anticipation and excitement. "We’ll inform your parents right away. I’m sure they’ll be overjoyed at the news. And I can’t even begin to express how delighted I am to soon become a grandmother," Margaret smiled warmly, her hand resting gently on Alora’s arm. "You’ve given this family more than we could have ever asked for, and we will be by your side every step of the way, as you prepare to welcome our little one into the world."
Alora, overwhelmed by the love surrounding her, nodded gratefully. She had never imagined her life could be filled with such happiness and support.
Alora’s thoughts drifted back to the moment when Magnus had first told her that if she married him, he would brighten her entire world. She smiled softly, realizing that his words had come true in ways she never imagined.
Magnus, reading her thoughts and sensing her emotions, felt a wave of tenderness wash over him. His heart swelled as he looked at her, knowing how much they had both transformed each other’s lives.
When the Queen and the others finally left the chamber, Magnus seized the moment of privacy with Alora.
Unable to resist the pull of his love for her, he gently took her hands and guided them behind his neck, drawing her closer.
"I love you, Alora," he whispered, his voice thick with emotion. "As much as I’ve brightened your world, you’ve made me feel alive, made me look forward to each and every day," he murmured against her lips before capturing her in a passionate kiss, pouring all of his love and devotion into the embrace.
Alora smiled while kissing him fervently. ’Thank you for all this,’ she thought.
