Chapter 40: I love Alora
Chapter 40: I love Alora
Magnus assisted his wife as they alighted from the carriage, Norman and Rhea already waiting to welcome them. With warm greetings exchanged, Magnus introduced his eldest brother to them.
"Please, come inside," Norman said politely, gesturing for them to follow. Together with Rhea, they led the way to the grand garden where the marriage ceremony would take place.
As they took their seats at the front, Rhea asked them what they would like to take. She even stopped a servant with a tray full of glasses of water.
"We both won’t take anything. However, Alora needs to drink water," Magnus stated.
Rhea handed the glass of water to her daughter. Once Alora finished drinking, she gave the glass back to her mother. "Do you wish to talk to Venus?" Rhea asked.
Magnus knew Alora would not refuse for it, but she did.
"Oh, why?" Rhea inquired.
"Venus may get upset to see me," Alora said in a low voice.
Rhea felt low to hear that, but in front of the princes, she didn’t speak. She had to excuse herself because Madam Aubrey called her and she went into the house.
"Why did Sister-in-law refuse to see his sister? Is it because she isn’t well accepted by her own sister?" Izaak’s curiosity prompted him to ask.
"Brother, it’s best to keep your curiosity to yourself," Magnus replied firmly.
Izaak rolled his eyes because Magnus didn’t allow him to know the reason. "I’ll be back soon," he announced and rose to his feet.
"Don’t create trouble. It’s Alora’s house," Magnus again reminded him to behave. Izaak assured him he would not and walked away.
"Venus won’t like it if she sees me," Alora shared with Magnus. "I don’t want to ruin her mood," she added.
He placed his hand over hers. "Not everyone can understand your pious heart," Magnus stated. "But if you wish, I can accompany you to see Venus. In front of me, she will refrain from speaking any bad words to you," he pronounced.
"I think we should stay here," Alora suggested. "Is it manageable for His Highness? He’s surrounded by humans," she remarked.
"Your scent is the only one that matters," Magnus reassured her. "The rest are negligible to me."
Interrupting their conversation, Elliot’s voice broke in. "Greetings to Your Highnesses."
"Elliot!" Alora exclaimed, surprised by his sudden appearance. "How are you?" she asked, genuinely curious.
"I’m well, Sister Alora. Here, I brought some cupcakes for you," Elliot said with a smile, offering the sweet treats. Alora lifted her head, stunned by his unexpected gesture.
"You should sit beside your sister," Magnus advised Elliot. Nodding, Elliot complied and took the seat next to Alora. He then handed her a cupcake.
Magnus couldn’t help but chuckle as he read Elliot’s thoughts. He found it amusing that both of Alora’s siblings seemed so self-centered.
Alora and Elliot exchanged glances, curious about Magnus’s chuckle. "Does His Highness have something to share?" Alora inquired.
"No, just enjoy the cupcake," Magnus replied firmly. He thought to let Alora and Elliot alone for a while. "I’ll be back in a while." He left to see Izaak, wondering if he would not be sucking someone’s blood.
And it didn’t take him long to spot Izaak. He was surprised to find him in the living area of the Wilson’s house. "Brother, what are you doing here?" Magnus asked. "Are you seeing the futures of these people?"
"No. But I saw something in Alora’s mother. That’s why I’m here," Izaak stated.
"What do you mean?" Magnus was puzzled.
"She will die, Magnus," Izaak replied.
"What? How?" He was well aware of his eldest brother’s abilities to foresee the future.
"I’m not sure. I do feel it will be because of Alora," Izaak stated.
"You mean she will burn her," Magnus said.
"Not exactly. It is tough to explain. I only see glimpses," Izaak asserted.
"You’ve never seen anyone’s death before. Isn’t it strange?" Magnus raised a doubt.
"Yes. I cannot see Alora’s future. Can you read her mind?" Izaak queried.
"I can," Magnus answered. He furrowed his brows together. "If Alora becomes the reason for her mother’s death, then she’ll never be able to cope with her loss."
"We cannot stop anyone’s death. Humans are meant to die one day," Izaak stated.
"But I need to make sure Alora doesn’t become the reason for her mother’s demise," Magnus proclaimed.
Izaak smiled and shook his head. "Magnus, if we play with nature’s laws, something bigger can happen. Anyhow, you would have found out about this. That’s why I told you myself. Also, you were supposed to meet Gloria today and here you are. In a marriage. You should find out why you can look into her eyes. Also, don’t forget about the message you received."
Magnus frowned to hear him. "Don’t you think someone doesn’t want me to be with Alora? She and I were fated."
"And what if it was all part of someone’s plan to bring the vampires down? What if the witch, who passed such a unique ability to Alora for a bigger purpose? And you somehow fell into her trap. Have you ever thought that way?" Izaak questioned him.
"I love Alora. Even if it’s a trap, I’ll find a way to get out of it. She should not suffer just because of a power she was bestowed to her," Magnus pronounced.
Izaak amusedly smiled to hear his response. "And I’ll have to help you since you cannot get out of this trap on your own," he stated.
They both now returned to the garden. "Who is the man beside Alora?" Izaak asked.
"Her younger brother, Elliot Wilson," Magnus answered.
"It seems he is sweet to his sister," Izaak opined.
"He isn’t. Because Alora is married to me, he wants a favor. Both Venus and Elliot are selfish," he asserted.
"Poor, Alora. She only has you who love her the most after her mother," Izaak remarked. He stopped a servant and picked up the wine glass from the silver tray. The servant bowed to them and left.
"Don’t tell Alora about her mother’s future," Magnus requested him. "She will stress out," he added.
