Chapter 35: Don’t trouble Alora

Chapter 35: Don’t trouble Alora

In the late evening, Magnus felt a surge of irritation upon discovering that Izaak was being relocated to the same residence as him. How dare he intrude on what was supposed to be a private space for Magnus and Alora?

Fueled by frustration, Magnus lashed out, kicking at a nearby trunk that had been brought to the top of the stairs. His anger sent the trunk tumbling down the stairs in a chaotic, uncontrolled manner.

The servants stopped carrying the luggage as they quickly got out of the way of the trunk. Alora stood beside Magnus, wondering why he was furious. She remained careful to look downstairs and took a glimpse of Izaak.

"Leave, Izaak. I have no desire to play with you," Magnus stated firmly.

As the trunk spilled its contents at Izaak’s feet, he looked up at Magnus. "Mother insists that I stay close to my younger brother. After all," he continued, like a sudden flash of light he appeared in front of Magnus, startling Alora, "you’ve married a woman who poses a threat to us vampires, except for you."

"I don’t wish to live under the same roof as you," Magnus said. "Don’t make me angry, Izaak. Let’s stay miles away from each other," he suggested to his elder brother.

"Sister-in-law, tell your dear husband that his elder brother will share the same roof as him," Izaak said, peering into Magnus’s eyes with a challenging gaze.

Magnus clenched his fists when Alora got in between them. "Your Highness, we cannot refute the Queen’s order. If Mother-in-law wants Prince Izaak to live here, then he shall. Please don’t be angry at your brother," she requested in her soft tone.

Izaak couldn’t help but chuckle at the sight of Magnus’s softened demeanor around Alora. "Human, you truly are fascinating. You’ve managed to turn my younger brother into quite the obedient child," he remarked with a smirk.

Magnus’s expression hardened at Izaak’s words. "We won’t stay here if you do," he declared firmly, his tone leaving no room for negotiation. "Go against my wish, and you’ll see exactly what I’m capable of," he warned Izaak, refusing to entertain Alora’s request to allow Izaak to stay.

"I will not do anything to Alora. I promise, Brother," Izaak said.

Magnus shook his head. "You can live outside in that hut. This residence belongs to me and Alora," he pronounced, not trusting Izaak’s words. He turned to leave while holding Alora’s hand, but she stopped him.

Alora held Magnus’s arm and dragged him away, asking Izaak to give them a minute. She stopped and told Magnus not to disrespect his brother. "He has promised he would not harm me. Also, it’s not good to go against the Queen Mother’s request," she stated.

"Alora is right. I’m not going to harm her," Izaak stated.

"Show me the royal decree from mother," Magnus told his elder brother.

Quickly, Izaak took out the scroll and threw it at Magnus, who caught it. "I knew you wouldn’t let me in without any decree. I will stay on the first floor of the residence while you two will be on the second floor," he explained.

Magnus sneered at his brother. "Don’t trouble Alora. And don’t try to play with her eyes in my absence," he clarified to him.

Izaak smiled. "I will not give any kind of trauma to your wife. You can trust me," he said.

"And no more women here. If I see any of your entertainers here, I’m going to kill you first before them," Magnus pronounced.

Alora was stunned to learn that Izaak was a womanizer.

"Brother, you are maligning my image in front of this kind human," Izaak stated.

"Alora should know what kind of a man you are," Magnus stated.

Izaak rolled his eyes. "It is not my fault that women approach me. They want a few things from me, which I give them, especially humans. In return, they willingly give me their warm blood," he stated with a smirk.

Magnus frowned at him and took Alora inside. "I wonder why the Queen Mother wants her elder son to stay here." She now felt Izaak wasn’t as good as Magnus. He fell into the categories of the ’bad men’.

"My first brother is notorious. He must want to stay here. But I’ll make sure his stay doesn’t last long here," Magnus proclaimed.

"Your Highness, what kind of person your second brother is?" Alora inquired.

"He is calm like an ocean," Magnus replied. "His name is Alaric Lukeson. He attended our wedding," he asserted.

"Oh. Is the Second Prince married too?" Alora asked.

"He didn’t marry after his lover left," Magnus answered.

"What? How did that happen? I thought the royal family vampires were immortal," she said.

"His lover didn’t marry him since she felt the palace life would not suit her. Alaric is like you. He forgives easily," Magnus pronounced.

Alora was astonished to learn that a royal prince spared the life of a person, who refused to marry him. Generally, it would not happen.

"Your Highness, there’s something you must know," Tobias interrupted their peaceful conversation. His voice didn’t sound firm and it seemed he was full of worry.

As they both turned around, Alora kept her gaze down.

"What happened?" Magnus asked.

Tobias glanced at Alora and then at the prince. "Your Highness, a strange message has come for Princess Alora. I tried to find its source, but it is unknown," Tobias said.

"For me? What is it?" Alora got curious.

Magnus took the scroll from Tobias as he reached him. He read it when Alora walked up to him. "What is it about?" she looked inside the scroll but couldn’t understand words. She had yet to learn to form words.

Magnus furrowed his brows together and handed it to Tobias. "See me in a while," he said and dragged Alora away from there.

"What was the message about?" Alora asked.

"It was for me," Magnus asserted.

"But Tobias said it was for me," Alora proclaimed.

"He has a slip of the tongue," Magnus answered. He brought her to the study room and made her sit on the leather chair. "It’s the time you should practice what you learned in the morning. I have an urgent work to attend. Don’t go out, or else you’ll be punished," Magnus said and left in a hurry without listening to what Alora had to say.

"How can he punish me? I’ve just started learning them," Alora murmured as she pouted her lips.
