Chapter 215: Kingdom of Galdoria

Magnus made his way back to the chamber after having a conversation with his brothers. However, outside he encountered Odin, who bowed to him.

"You’re here? I assumed–" Magnus began, his sentence hanging unfinished as he sensed a familiar aura. "Has Venus come?" He questioned.

"Yes, Your Highness," Odin confirmed, his voice steady. "She has come to inquire about your well-being and expressed a desire to meet Princess Alora," he elaborated.

"Are you perhaps belittling Venus?" Magnus probed as he read a particular thought of Odin.

"Well, Your Highness–"

"There’s no need to belittle her. If Alora were to discover this, her wrath would be directed at me. I cannot bear the sight of her upset countenance. Venus is in the midst of change," he asserted, cautioning Odin to tread lightly with his choice of words.

"I understand, Your Highness," Odin answered. "How is His Highness now? Turned out Rubin created a lot of troubles for him," he added.

"I’ve recovered somewhat. Indeed, that scoundrel has sown seeds of turmoil. But a more significant issue is looming ominously. But a bigger problem is lingering over my head. Just keep an eye on the Wilson Family because they might get targeted too," Magnus instructed him with a serious expression on his face.

"I understand your concerns, Your Highness," Odin acknowledged.

"When do you find time to retreat for some rest?" Magnus inquired, his voice tinged with worry.

"Typically, in the afternoon," Odin responded.

"Ah, I see. I’ll arrange for your accommodation at the Wilson Residence," Magnus declared.

"There’s no need for that, Your Highness," Odin declined courteously.

"The reason is that a formidable individual is expected to arrive soon. I require your presence at Alora’s family home at all times. Since I can’t be there all the time, it’s better for you to be there," Magnus expressed.

"Who might this formidable individual be?" Odin asked, his interest noticeably rising.

"Rubin has awakened a witch, sealed away for centuries. You must remain vigilant," Magnus warned. Odin came to the realization that they had been under constant threat from such beings, which had been dormant for some time. This was especially true after Alora entered Magnus’s life. But he refrained from voicing out this thought.

"Alora’s eyes attract all such people," Magnus remarked before any seed of doubts grew in Odin’s mind. "I’ll see you later. Perhaps you can rest till the evening since Alora won’t let leave Venus early," he said with a smile and glanced at the guard, ordering him to take Odin to one of the chambers for some rest.

After Odin left with the guard, Magnus walked into the chamber.

Izaak, with a subtle nod of acknowledgment, turned his gaze towards Quentin. The latter, with a welcoming sweep of his hand, gestured for him to occupy the vacant chair.

"In light of Prince Magnus’s absence, I deemed it appropriate to confer with you, Prince Izaak," Quentin began, referencing the extensive investigations he and his team had conducted.

"I trust you have executed the mission my brother entrusted to you," Izaak responded his tone firm yet fair.

"I have exerted every effort, Your Highness," Quentin assured him. With a slight nod, he signaled a guard to approach. The guard, holding a box of unknown contents, stepped forward. Izaak’s eyes narrowed slightly, curiosity piqued as he pondered over the possible contents of the mysterious box.

"Your Highness, our investigations led us to an abandoned dwelling within the heart of the capital. It appears that the unidentified vampires the princes encountered that fateful night had sought refuge there," Quentin began, his voice echoing in the silent chamber. "We managed to recover several items from this hideout."

He paused for a moment before continuing, "As Prince Magnus had suspected, these vampires were not natives of Velaris. They hailed from our neighboring kingdom, the Kingdom of Galdoria."

As Quentin unveiled this startling revelation, the guard proceeded to unlatch the box. He carefully extracted a bundle of letters from within, their worn edges indicating frequent handling.

"These letters," Quentin declared, holding up the correspondence for all to see, "have been regularly exchanged between the vampires and an unidentified contact in Galdoria."

Izaak carefully unfolded one of the letters, his eyes scanning the cryptic symbols that filled the page. His brows furrowed in concentration, the coded language proving to be a challenge. "These need to be deciphered, Quentin," he stated, his voice echoing in the silent chamber.

"I’ve already taken care of that, Your Highness," Quentin replied, a hint of satisfaction in his voice. He then extended a hand, offering Izaak a piece of torn, brownish paper that looked like it had been carefully extracted from an ancient book.

"Before we delve into the other items, Prince Izaak, I believe you should examine this," he suggested, his tone implying the significance of the document in his hand.

Izaak accepted the paper from Quentin, his eyes quickly scanning the text. His expression shifted from curiosity to surprise as he found Alora’s name mentioned in the text.

"Quentin, your efforts are commendable," Izaak praised, a rare smile gracing his features. He turned to Zerah, his tone shifting to one of urgency, "Prepare the carriage, Zerah. I must return to the palace immediately."

Quentin nodded, his expression serious as he revealed more information. "Your Highness, it appears that Princess Alora is coveted by someone in Galdoria."

The text suggests that the one who possesses the woman with magical eyes can achieve any desire," he explained. His next words hung heavily in the air, "We have always misunderstood Princess Alora’s eyes, labeling them as cursed." His proclamation echoed in the room.

"Indeed, it’s perplexing," Izaak mused, his voice echoing his bewilderment. "How did these vampires manage to acquire this?" His thoughts tangled with confusion. "Could they have stolen it from Rubin? But according to Magnus, Rubin had already consigned that book to the flames," he muttered to himself.

Only Magnus could find the answers, but one thing Izaak was sure about. Alora needed to be protected more.
