Chapter 211: Your body doesn’t want me to stop

"Who is the witch? Where is she? And why is she awake?" Alora inquired.

"Qasima Orlock. She was buried in a grave. My great-grandmother sealed her with the help of a witch thousands of years ago. However, Rubin, driven by his treachery, stole a book from her resting place. This

"Oh. Did you retrieve that book from Rubin?" Alora queried.

"No.youbin burned it," Magnus answered.

Alora gasped in disbelief, "What? Wouldn’t that infuriate Qasima?" She reasoned that since the book was a possession of Qasima, its destruction might provoke her wrath.

"I think only this was something Rubin did good. He didn’t wish others to gain the knowledge from it," Magnus explained.

Alora’s worry deepened, "But what if Qasima decides to come here? What if she targets you again?" Her voice trembled with concern for Magnus.

He knew Qasima couldn’t be stopped from coming to Velaris. She must be hungry for their blood because the Lukeson Family sealed her off. But amidst that, he saw Alora as a hope to destroy such a witch.

"Qasima has an old enmity toward our family. So, she will eventually come here. But what I am sure about is that she won’t enter the palace unprepared. Thousands of years in the grave must have dissipated her energy entirely. She needs to regain that again. So, we have time to fight her until then. Father said that he would meet Head Witch Gloria tomorrow to address this issue," Magnus explained to her.

With a nod of comprehension, Alora signaled her understanding. "So, if I possess the ability to manipulate any supernatural entity merely through the power of my gaze," she acknowledged, her voice laced with uncertainty. "I am committed to honing this skill, even though I am currently at a loss as to how to go about it," she confessed, her determination evident in her firm words.

"Alora, you can use that skill on me. And if you ever doubt yourself from now onward, remember that I’ll always have faith in you," Magnus told her, his hand resting now on her back.

"Alright. Then, shall we try it now?" Alora asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Why not?" Magnus opined.

"Then, look straight into my eyes," Alora said. He hummed and the two made eye contact. "How would I know if I controlled you for something or not?" she pondered aloud.

Magnus chuckled, his eyes twinkling with mirth. "My dear Alora, aren’t I already under your enchanting spell?" he teased.

With a playful swat to his shoulder, Alora retorted, "You make it impossible for me to practice." A spark of realization lit her eyes as she declared, "I could hone my skills on new vampires instead."

Magnus’ face brightened at her suggestion. "Under my watchful eye, you can indeed practice. Alora, your intellect never ceases to amaze me," he complimented, pressing a tender kiss to her lips. The warmth of their lighthearted exchange filled Alora with a renewed sense of spirit.

"I’m not that smart," Alora said. "Why do you always praise me?" she affectionately asked.

"Why? Do you hate it?" Magnus queried.

"No. But that’s a false praise. You cannot do that," Alora stated. As she made to rise, Magnus pulled her back into his embrace, his hand resting reassuringly on the small of her back.

"Let’s stay this way for some time," he whispered, his words a soft caress against her lips.

"But we have breakfast to attend. We can’t keep everyone waiting," Alora gently reminded him.

"Why not skip breakfast and just remain ensconced here?" he proposed, his head finding a comfortable spot atop her shoulder, his voice filled with longing.

His lips brushed against her smooth skin before he began to shower her with gentle kisses. His hand slid to the top of her sleeve, slowly pulling it down to reveal her shoulder. He pressed kisses along the newly exposed skin.

"Magnus, not in the morning," Alora murmured, her voice a mix of amusement and exasperation.

"Mmm..."

He playfully nipped at her pale shoulder, leaving a small red mark behind. A mischievous grin spread across his lips, refusing to fade.

"I think your body doesn’t want me to stop," Magnus murmured, his voice low and teasing. He suckled on her skin, his hand slowly moving to the front to caress her curves.

Seizing her chance, Alora broke free from his hold and quickly stood up, taking a few steps back. Her chest heaved, her breaths coming fast as she fought to maintain her composure. Without hesitation, she pulled her sleeve back up over her shoulder and ran a hand along her neck.

Magnus stared at her in bewilderment. The hunger in his eyes was evident, but she had already slipped from his grasp.

"We should hurry to the dining hall," Alora urged him.

"I won’t go," Magnus declared, running the pad of his finger along his lips.

"Why?" Alora asked, confusion evident in her gaze.

"Because you didn’t let me taste you," he replied without hesitation.

She stopped, her eyes narrowing as she stared at him. "How could you say that? Don’t you feel any shame?" Alora’s tone was sharp, her gaze shooting daggers at him.

She turned around, wanting to hide the blush that already had formed on her cheeks. Her breath hitched as she felt Magnus’s presence right behind her. His arm had snaked around her belly and he drew her nearer.

"Well, I love being shameless. And you drive me crazy. Don’t you know how hard it is for me to resist once I start? How am I supposed to calm down my–" Magnus’s words were interrupted by Alora’s firm voice.

"It’s morning. If we get late for breakfast, it won’t look good for others waiting for us. Plus, we need to apologize to Brother Alaric for disrupting dinner last night, especially since it was meant to be with his in-laws," Alora reasoned, explaining why they couldn’t indulge in their desires at that moment.

"Fine," Magnus agreed and the two made their way out of their chamber.
