Chapter 176: Don’t tempt me more

The next morning, Magnus awoke with a renewed sense of energy coursing through him. With a contented sigh, he stretched his arms and engaged in some light exercises before making his way leisurely toward the balcony. Stepping onto it, he was greeted by the soothing sound of Alora’s voice drifting up from the garden below.

As he peered down, Magnus spotted Alora busily planting new flowers, carefully selecting varieties that would flourish during the rainy season. Her laughter floated through the air, filling him with warmth and joy.

Despite the presence of other young ladies by her side, Magnus found his attention completely captivated by his wife, unable to tear his gaze away from her.

"How could she be so pretty?" Magnus murmured as he almost stopped breathing. He leisurely rested his arms on the balustrade, admiring Alora from the top.

Magnus smiled on his own, feeling delighted for no apparent reason.

After some time, he straightened up and ran his fingers through his hair. "I must have gone crazy. I should freshen up before she comes upstairs to scold me."

As he entered the room, he first freshened up and then came out to take his clothes from the cupboard. "What should I wear?" He mumbled. Usually, Tobias would pick his daily outfits, so he would not have to bother about his appearance at all. But now, he was confused between the outfits.

"Which one looks good on me?" Magnus thought as he checked them in front of the mirror. Suddenly, the door opened and he sensed Alora’s presence.

"Love, tell me which one will look good on me?" Magnus asked, his eyes twinkling with anticipation.

"The right one," Alora responded, her attention still focused on the flowers. Then, she turned to Magnus with a furrowed brow. "Why hasn’t His Highness bathed yet?" she queried, her tone laced with concern. "Did he forget we have to leave for an important task shortly?" she scolded him gently.

"That’s your fault, Alora. I got busy admiring you," Magnus asserted with a playful grin, his love for her evident in his eyes.

"Eh?" Alora left bewildered by his remark.

"Don’t make the cute, innocent face. Your laughter reached my ears. Your beauty, your smile kept distracting me and that’s why I am late," Magnus said as she approached her with deliberate slow steps.

Alora took the second outfit from him and said, "That’s an excuse for your laziness, Your Highness." She then pushed him toward the washrooms and sternly instructed him to come out in the next fifteen minutes.

Before Magnus could speak further, she shut the door on his face.

"Am I that pretty or he just exaggerates?" Alora murmured and touched her cheeks while blushing.

Suddenly the door opened and his voice reached her ears, "Well, you are exceptionally beautiful."

"Magnus, you are–" Alora began, but her words were cut off as she turned on her heels. In an instant, Magnus pulled her inside and closed the door behind them. Her back pressed against the wall, one of his hands wrapped tightly around her lower back while the other rested beside her head.

"Magnus, leave me. What are you up to?" Alora struggled to free herself from his hold, her voice a mix of frustration and confusion.

Just then, a voice called from outside, momentarily breaking the tension between them.

"Alora, where are you? I told you to ask Prince Magnus what he would like to have in breakfast."

They both heard Rhea’s voice coming from the room.

Alora quickly pressed her hands over Magnus’s mouth, fearing he might call out and reveal her presence. His mischievous smirk only confirmed her suspicion.

"Hasn’t she come upstairs?" Rhea murmured outside, her voice fading as she left the room after a moment.

Alora kept her head toward the door, straining to hear if her mother was still nearby. Sensing her anxiety, Magnus gently lowered her hand from his mouth. As she glanced back at him, he leaned in and kissed her cheek, a tender gesture that brought a soft blush to her face.

"Let me go, Magnus. Don’t hold me here, and don’t be late for washing up. You can’t trouble me like a kid," Alora said, annoyance creeping into her voice at his childish actions.

"I’m 300 years old. How am I a kid?" Magnus retorted with a playful grin. "I won’t leave you. Let’s have a bath together. The hot water in the tub is inviting us," he proclaimed, his eyes twinkling with mischief.

"I have already bathed," Alora said. "I will not talk to you if you hold me here for another minute," she stated sternly.

"Then, let’s remain locked here. When your family comes here searching for us, then you’ll have to answer their answers. I’ll act all innocent. I’ll tell them how you blackmailed me for not talking to me," Magnus remarked.

Alora couldn’t help but chuckle at his words.

"Magnus, what has gotten into you? Do you love troubling me?" Alora asked, her finger tracing a slow, teasing line over his chest.

"Not this, Alora," Magnus murmured, catching her hand and pinning it gently against the wall. He leaned down and kissed her lips, the intensity of his desire evident. "Don’t tempt me more," he whispered, his voice thick with the passion that had surged within him in an instant.

"For that, you need to let me go," Alora whispered against his lips, her breath hitching as she spoke.

Magnus’s fangs grazed the sensitive skin on her neck, his hot breath fanning across her flesh and sending shivers down her spine. She felt her resolve waver as the sensation stirred something deep within her.

"Magnus, we may get late. Brother Alaric is in distress, remember?" Alora finally spoke something, which caused Magnus to stop.

With a sigh, Magnus opened the door for her and gestured for her to leave. Alora smiled, planting a quick kiss on his cheek before darting out.

As the door shut, Magnus couldn’t help but smile. He rested his hand on his chest, feeling the warm flutters of his heart, a testament to the love and desire that filled him.
