Chapter 163: Rubin’s true identity
Ralph provided him with the list of the hunters, which were a part of the Night Saviors Organization. "It wasn’t easy to gather all this information. We used our best spies to find out these details, Your Highness," he explained.
Magnus went through the documents and looked for Rubin’s name. To his surprise, Rubin’s name couldn’t be found in any of the three lists. It meant Rubin had a different name or he was never a part of this group. However, he found out some interesting facts about this organization– they had killed several low-key vampires in the South. Their names could never come to the light, so hardly anyone noticed it.
"How strong is this organization? Any chance they can harm the werewolves as well?" Magnus questioned, meeting his gaze with Ralph. He read his thoughts so that Ralph’s lies could catch.
"They have a good relationship with the South Shadow Pack. The pack has a good hold in the South and even some noble vampires fear them," Ralph asserted. He detailed to Magnus how the South Shadow Pack had more administrative strength than the vampires there.
"Hmm. I would like you to do one more thing for me," Magnus pronounced.
"What is it, Your Highness?" Ralph queried.
"Bring the sketch, Tobias," Magnus stated.
Shortly, Tobias presented it to the prince.
"I want you to find out about this person. Find out if he belongs to this hunter organization or not," he instructed. As Magnus handed the sketch to Ralph, he spoke further, "Make sure no one finds out about it. You need to compensate me well."
Ralph gazed at Rubin’s sketch and asked Magnus if he could tell him the person’s name.
"Rubin Karlson. However, I doubt if that’s his real name or not. The lists you have provided me don’t include Rubin’s name," Magnus affirmed.
"It’s tough to find out about Rubin when his name isn’t even included in the lists," Ralph stated. "The details I’ve provided His Highness are correct. But I’ll do my best to look for this person," he assured Magnus.
"Yes, you have to give your everything to this task. Otherwise, I won’t let you live in peace," Magnus said sternly.
Ralph felt that he made a mistake by coming after Alora just for his own greed. Now, Magnus would make him go to any lengths, which he couldn’t either fathom.
"Ralph, let’s work together. Perhaps my views change about werewolves and I can help the werewolves gain a better position in the administration as equal to the vampires," Magnus provided him a bait– which Ralph couldn’t refuse.
"I would love to work with Prince Magnus," Ralph accepted the offer and looked at the sketch in his hand. "I will report to you soon, Your Highness," he assured Magnus.
"Keep it to yourself, your mate, and your beta. If this matter goes out, you know what will happen," Magnus warned him.
"I am well aware, Your Highness," Ralph stated.
"Tobias will escort you three out. Thank you for the cooperation and Ralph, don’t ever threaten any human like this. Let’s be harmonious with them," Magnus opined, his voice softening.
Ralph nodded and gazed at Alora. He apologized to her again and left with his mate, followed by his beta while Tobias led their way out.
Alora turned to look at Magnus, who had his elbow rested on the sofa rest while his cheek settled on his fist. "What is it do you wish to say to me?" Magnus inquired.
"Did His Highness not read Rubin’s mind?" Alora queried.
"His thoughts are the same as his words. But did you see my suspicion come true?" Magnus raised his eyebrow.
"I’m surprised, Magnus. Rubin made us believe that he was a part of the Hunter Organization in the South. I wonder why his name wasn’t present on the list," Alora said while furrowing her brows together.
"We will find soon what Rubin’s true identity is!" Magnus said with a determined tone. He then rose to his feet and told Alora they should head to the Council. She hummed and the two left the private chamber.

In the Council Hall:
"There are a total of 79 vampires from the noble families, who bought female humans as their slaves," Magnus said as he looked at the report, which Izaak’s assistant had held.
"Surprisingly, Elder William’s second son’s name is present in this report. So far, Nikitin has killed three slaves by sucking their blood," he asserted with an amusement on his face.
"They are called slaves for a reason, Your Highness. Prince Izaak cannot punish so many vampires because we bought them as slaves," Nikitin proclaimed.
"Then, should humans also start taking vampires as slaves?" Izaak questioned him. "I think many of you will get offended if that happens," he stated and glanced at the Elders. "What punishment shall we make for all of them? They violated the law. Blood slaves were allowed, but not more than that," he stated.
The Elders exchanged glances with each other. On their behalf, William spoke, "I think Prince Izaak should take the decision. However, let me remind His Highness, that he cannot let the vampires’ reputation get ruined. Slaves are called slaves for a reason. As their masters, they all have even provided them a better place to live along with three times food."
Magnus chuckled to hear him. However, he let Izaak handle this matter.
"I saw their conditions yesterday with my own eyes. We aren’t supposed to exploit the weak. The Elders aren’t thinking in a righteous way and turning biased while giving suggestions to me for the punishment," Izaak said with a disturbed glance.
"I think we shall make them work as slaves for a month in the palace," Magnus suggested to his brother. "Or we need to replace them from their positions. They have been on the same post for years. We can demote them as well," he provided a few suggestions to Izaak.
Izaak contemplated for a moment before agreeing to demote all those vampires, who were involved in such a practice.
"The punishment should make you learn all that humans are the only species with special abilities to kill the vampires. None of you would like to encounter the Vampire Hunters, so better start behaving well with the humans," he announced.
The Elders didn’t find it right to intervene in the decision since they understood the gravity of the situation. The order was passed and all the 79 noble vampires were demoted from their positions.
