Chapter 110: To turn into a vampire

Izaak looked at Griffin and asked, "Will you accompany me outside?"

"For what, Your Highness?" asked Griffin. Though he was prepared to follow the Prince wherever he wanted.

"To meet the Vampire Hunter. I’ve yet to interrogate him. My brother is busy with other kinds of stuff, so you should accompany me. Odin shall take the rest," Izaak stated and rose to his feet.

Griffin was quick to follow his lead when Odin’s voice reached their ears.

"Is there a Vampire Hunter around?" Odin was also on his feet, feeling a bit troubled.

"Yes. The Guardians have caught him. However, I didn’t get the time to interrogate him. I have to find out how much are there," Izaak pronounced and went ahead. Griffin followed after the prince while Louis showed the room to Odin for the rest.

Izaak and Griffin arrived at the central prison of Shadowbrook. One of the guardians took them inside, where they met Frederick.

"Your Highness, he even refused to tell his name. Also, we refrained from torturing him because of the rules. He is a human after all," Frederick informed him.

"I will interrogate him," said Izaak and asked Frederick to show him the way. They went ahead to the prison, where the hunter was locked.

Entering the cell, Izaak surveyed the man, his arms bound with shackles as he stood in a daze. Frederick splashed water on the hunter’s face, startling him awake from his slumber.

"You both shall leave," Izaak said.

Frederick and Griffin left the prison cell before closing its door.

Izaak strode to the vampire hunter and halted in front of him finally. "Tell me your name," Izaak demanded, his cold voice sounded intimidating.

"Kill me," the man said.

Izaak gripped his neck tightly between his palms. "You think I’ll kill you so easily." His thumb pressed tightly against the skin of his neck. "I play games, but not the way a hunter wants me," he asserted.

"How did you enter Shadowbrook?" asked Izaak as he finally let off the hunter’s neck. He breathed deeply, feeling much better. "Still making me wait?" He arched his eyebrow. At this moment, he missed Magnus. He would have easily read the hunter’s mind and they would have found out everything. Why his brother was so lazy about such important tasks?

"Regardless, you vampires will end my life, so silence seems the wisest choice," the man retorted stubbornly, refusing to cooperate.

"What if I were to turn you into a vampire?" Izaak proposed. "Wouldn’t that be the ultimate punishment for you?" he added, knowing that vampire hunters despised the idea of becoming vampires themselves.

The man swallowed hard, shaking his head in refusal. Despite his attempts, he found himself unable to free himself from the unyielding shackles.

As Izaak’s canines lengthened and his pupils dilated, he seized the man’s neck, poised to subject him to his worst fear.

"The vampires slaughtered my family. I joined the Night Saviors to seek vengeance," the man blurted out hastily, realizing he could never bear the thought of becoming a vampire.

Izaak’s countenance reverted to its usual form, his grip loosening from the man’s neck once more.

"Where did it happen? And where is this group based?" Izaak questioned him.

"My family was massacred on a river island known as Emberwood. The Head of Shadowbrook brought my sister here and later killed her. That’s why I joined the Night Saviors," the man explained, his eyes welling with tears as he recounted the harrowing event.

Izaak frowned, pondering the significance of William’s interest in a human. He realized he needed to delve deeper into the matter to uncover the truth.

"How many vampire hunters are there?" Izaak questioned him.

"Please end my life. I cannot betray those who stood by me in my darkest hours. Vampires are supposed to hunt us humans," pleaded the man.

At that moment, the prison’s door creaked open, and a figure stepped inside.

"Who said we vampires seek to harm humans?" Magnus’s voice echoed in the chamber, reaching the ears of both the hunter and Izaak. Turning to face his brother, Izaak’s expression shifted from astonishment to a mixture of surprise and intrigue.

"We, the royal princes, shall ensure justice for you, Rubin Karlson," Magnus declared. "However, the condition is that you must disclose information about the hunters’ group," he added sternly.

Rubin was taken aback by Magnus’s knowledge of his name.

"I can read minds. Yet, I prefer not to delve into your memories to uncover details about the group," Magnus continued, his gaze shifting to his brother. "So, speak. If you fail to cooperate, I’ll have no choice but to turn you into one of our kind," he warned Rubin.

Rubin shook his head in refusal and lowered his eyes. "I cannot tell the prince," he asserted.

"Brother, Rubin is loyal to his saviors. You should have turned him into a vampire," Magnus stated.

Izaak approached his brother with lightning speed and whispered in his ear, "We cannot turn him into a vampire if that’s what you have in mind. I was merely scaring him."

"But I’m serious about having him as one of the loyal people," Magnus stated with a loud enough voice. Rubin gulped hard and he pleaded with Magnus not to do so.

"You’ll forget all the pain you’ve undergone all these years, Kid," Magnus stated.

"I don’t want to," Rubin affirmed. "Please, I beg you."

"That day in the forest, you spotted me and my wife. Why didn’t you kill me right there, or why didn’t you harm her?" Magnus changed his question.

Rubin gazed at him and knitted his brows close.

"The lady with you was a human, and I don’t intend to harm a human. Furthermore, my enmity is with Dylan, not the others," Rubin affirmed.

"Interesting thoughts," Magnus stated. "I’ll kill Dylan, but you’ve to turn into a vampire," he put forward the condition. "Even your savior group won’t be able to take down Dylan. What do you think? You have a minute to tell me about your decision."
