Chapter 108: Needs to be imprisoned

"Venus isn’t in the house. I would like to see the evidence on which basis Odin put forward such a claim," Norman stated.

"Eugene’s mate has been lingering around the residence for a few days. She has admitted that Miss Venus told her to kill Princess Alora. She is sent to the prison already," Odin announced.

Madam Aubrey’s heartbeats raced and she felt her head heavy. "Why did Venus do that?" she mumbled and fell to the sofa.

At that very moment, Venus entered the house. "Grandma, I brought the dress for the evening meeting with Ramon," she said with a delighted expression on her face. However, seeing Odin there, the smile slowly faded from her lips.

Norman walked to Venus and asked her, "Did you meet Eugene’s mate?"

Venus’s eyes slightly grew and her heart palpitated with apprehension.

"No," Venus lied. "Why would I meet Eugene’s mistress?" She glanced at Odin and pondered why he was there.

Odin chuckled to hear her lie. He turned around and said, "Miss Zinnia and Miss Venus were in the coffee house earlier. Miss Zinnia has already been taken to prison. Now, Miss Venus should admit the truth about how she instigated a werewolf, who lost her mate, to take Princess Alora’s life. Zinnia has already confessed her crimes," he elaborated the scenario to Venus.

"Is it true, Venus?" Norman asked his daughter.

She didn’t know what to say when a slap landed on her face. Rhea, who was at the top of the stairs, rushed down to check what was happening. She stopped Norman from hitting Venus.

"Rhea, move aside. Our daughter’s actions have brought such disgrace upon us!" Norman exclaimed, his voice filled with disappointment and frustration.

Odin typically avoided human family dramas, but for some reason, he found himself strangely drawn to this one.

"How could you do this to your own sister? Who put you up to scheming against Alora?" Norman’s voice rang out in anger, directed at Venus this time.

Tears cascaded down Venus’s cheeks, her father’s slap leaving her stunned—it was the first time he had ever struck her.

Norman had no idea what he should do now. His family name was already tarnished after what happened with Eugene and his family. Now, Venus’s evil act would completely destroy their remaining image as well.

He turned to Odin and with extreme shame, Norman said, "Odin, let’s not stretch the matter far. Alora isn’t in the capital. She is safe. About Zinnia, you should release her too."

"Pardon me, Norman. This is against the rules. I did what was just. Your daughter needs to be imprisoned. Whether she will be punished or pardoned, is up to Prince Magnus to decide," Odin clarified to him.

Venus clenched her fists because once again because of Alora she had to feel humiliated.

"Moreover, your daughter isn’t ready to repent. It’s a serious offense to conspire against royalty. Rest assured, Norman, until Prince Magnus returns, Miss Venus won’t be interrogated. She has to spend her days in prison," Odin declared firmly, casting a glance at the visibly agitated Venus.

"No! I won’t go to prison," Venus protested.

Odin snickered to hear her. "Miss Venus should not have schemed to kill Princess Alora," he stated and called for the guardians. They dragged her out of the house when Rhea went to Odin.

Joining her hands, she told Odin not to do so. "I’ll discipline Venus well. Please trust me," she asserted.

"Forgive me, Lady Rhea. Rules are equal for everyone," Odin said. "Let’s see each other after Prince Magnus and Princess Alora return," he slightly bowed to Rhea and walked out of the house.

Rhea fell to the floor while weeping. She failed to give value to Venus. As a mother, this was her biggest failure and she blamed herself for today’s incident.

Madam Aubrey too felt sick, her heart squeezing tightly as if he would explode any time. She found it difficult to breathe and she called Norman’s name.

Norman rushes to his mother while Rhea stands up from her place. She asked the servant to call the doctor and sat next to Aubrey, taking her hand in hers. Rhea found her entire family shattering in front of her eyes and it made her helpless.

Venus, on the other hand, was thrown into a closed prison with only one small window at the top. She requested the Guardians not to do this with her, but her words fell on deaf ears.

Odin walked in as the guardians walked out. "Prince Magnus warned you not to harm Princess Alora. Foolish human," he pressed his finger at her forehead, "you should know that nobody stays alive who infuriates the prince."

Venus insisted she would never betray her sister, but Odin ignored her pleas.

"Your fate lies in Prince Magnus’s hands. You’ll be provided with three meals a day. Hopefully, you’ll survive," Odin remarked before departing the prison.

Venus screamed for help, but the gates remained closed. Despondent, she sank to the floor, weeping and lamenting her misfortune.

Odin came to the residence, where Tobias was present. "I locked Venus and Zinnia separately. Do you think I should deliver this message myself to Prince Magnus or wait for his return?" asked Odin for his wise opinion.

"I think Odin shall go to Shadowbrook and inform Prince Magnus about what’s happening behind his back. It’s a grave matter and it needs his prior attention," Tobias asserted after contemplating.

"Then, I shall depart for Shadowbrook," Odin stated.

"At this hour?" Tobias arched his eyebrows at him.

"I’ll be there by midnight," Odin answered.

"Then, please give this to Prince Magnus. It carries an important message for him," Tobias said with a serious tone.

"What is it?" Odin knitted his brows together as he looked at the envelope.

"It’s confidential, Odin," Tobias stated. Hearing that, Odin didn’t ask further and picked up the envelope. "I will return soon." He put the envelope inside his outer coat’s pocket and left for Shadowbrook.
