Chapter 67: 67. The End (fight)
[Activated Adrenaline Surge.]
[Remaining time: 90s]
Leo’s senses sharpened to a razor’s edge, his mind numbing, adrenaline flooding his veins like fire. A wild smile spread across his face, crimson eyes hollow—no pain, no rage, just an eerie void. "Let’s see what fear of death can do," he said, voice low, chilling.
He vanished in a blink, leaving Valtharion’s purple eyes darting, searching the dark domain.
Leo appeared before the fallen katana, crouching, snatching it, and vanishing again. Valtharion’s helm tilted, confusion flickering. This was his domain—none could outmatch him here. Yet this kid moved like a ghost. Leo flickered into view at Valtharion’s side, too fast to track.
"Surprise, motherfucker," he muttered, voice dripping with menace.
Valtharion spun, greatsword swinging in a desperate arc, shadows trailing. Leo ducked, the blade screaming over his head, slicing air.
He surged forward, katana slashing upward, a fiery streak aimed at Valtharion’s chest.
CLANG!
The demon parried, but the force rocked him, boots skidding across the obsidian ground. Leo vanished, reappearing behind, katana thrusting at Valtharion’s spine like a burning spear.
The demon twisted, blocking, sparks bursting, the ground trembling. [Time remaining: 80s] Leo moved like a storm of lightning and fire, Adrenaline Surge turning him into a phantom.
He blurred left, slashing Valtharion’s thigh. He flickered right, stabbing the demon’s arm, scorching the pauldron.
Valtharion roared, swinging his greatsword in a wide sweep, shadow mana exploding in a dark crescent that tore through the air.
Leo flipped backward, the wave smashing a floating pillar, debris raining like shrapnel. He landed, skidding, and charged, katana spinning, fire trailing like a comet. Each slash was a fiery explosion, pushing Valtharion back, his armor cracking, pride wounded.
The demon stomped, shadows erupting, tendrils lashing like clawed whips, sharp and deadly.
Leo danced through them, katana slicing, fire burning tendrils to ash, his hollow eyes unblinking. He vanished, reappearing above Valtharion, katana plunging down, fire mana roaring like a dragon.
Valtharion raised his greatsword, blocking, but the force drove him to one knee, the obsidian ground splitting, his growl raw with fury.
[Time remaining: 60s]
Valtharion surged upward, his shattered hand clawing at Leo mid-air, claws ripping into his side, blood gushing. He hurled Leo toward a pillar, the impact shattering stone, dust choking the air. Leo rolled, springing up, katana raised, fire blazing brighter.
He blurred forward, a streak of lightning, slashing in a relentless storm—each hit a thunderclap, fire and sparks lighting the domain like a battlefield of stars.
A slash tore Valtharion’s chest armor, exposing dark, bleeding flesh. Another clipped his helm, cracking the dragon’s jaw, purple light flickering. Valtharion’s roars, shadows swarming, six wraiths rising, their purple eyes glowing, claws slashing like knives.
Leo laughed, a cold, hollow sound that echoed through the domain, vanishing as the wraiths lunged. He reappeared among them, katana spinning, fire and lightning erupting in a blinding storm. Wraiths screeched, disintegrating, ash falling like snow.
Valtharion charged, greatsword thrusting. Leo sidestepped, the blade grazing his ribs, blood spraying, but he countered, katana slashing Valtharion’s arm, slicing off a pauldron with a metallic crack.
[Time remaining: 40s]
The wounds Leo carved into Valtharion’s armor began to heal, the cracks sealing as dark mana eating the wounds away. In this domain, Valtharion was godlike, his control absolute, his body heals effortlessly.
"Nice kid’s game, child," he sneered, his voice dripping with scorn.
"But you’re still a disappointment."
Leo’s laughter erupted, wild and unhinged, echoing through the domain like a storm.
[Time remaining: 30s]
Valtharion’s helm tilted, his purple eyes narrowing. "Have you lost your mind?"
Leo’s hand covered his face, his laughter fading to a dark chuckle. "I hate this shit life," he muttered. His katana vanished, and a glowing blue shard appeared in his hand—the Phantom Edge Shard.,
"Should’ve used this sooner," he growled, smashing the shard. It shattered like glass, reforming into a spectral dagger.
[Phantom Shard Activated]
Leo moved, faster than ever. He leaped into the air, the dagger aimed at Valtharion’s chest. The demon raised his greatsword just in time, but the moment the dagger touched it, the sword splintered like dry wood.
The dagger drove through, piercing Valtharion’s chest, ignoring his iron-hard armor with a sickening crunch.
Valtharion stared at the dagger embedded in his heart, then at Leo, who clung to him, gripping the blade, crimson eyes locked on his.
"You think this’ll kill me?" the demon rasped.
Leo’s smile was chilling, his other hand clutching Valtharion’s neck armor, pulling himself closer, eyes burning into the demon’s.
"Sorry to disappoint," he whispered, "but that’s not the plan."
Valtharion’s purple eyes widened as the dagger dissolved. Leo summoned his katana in a flash, thrusting it into the gap left by the dagger. Valtharion’s hand shot out to grab him, but stopped an inch from Leo’s skin, blocked by an invisible wall.
[Activated Bear Defense.]
Leo’s creepy grin grew. "If I’d done this earlier, you’d have blocked it easy. So I drained your mana, your energy. Now guess what?" He began channeling raw mana into the katana, his body screaming in agony. "You know what happens when foreign mana enters your mana core, right?"
Leo’s body burned, hands blistering, skin splitting as raw mana surged through the katana. Pain tore through him—muscles ripping, bones grinding, blood leaking from his nose, ears, mouth.
His vision blurring, chest heaving, each breath becoming heavy. The mana flooded Valtharion’s core, a poison to his essence.
Valtharion roared, a howl of rage and pain, his body trembling. The katana pulsed, mana overloading, and Leo pushed harder, every shred of his will fueling the blade.
"Die... you bastard," he whispered, unleashing a final surge.
BOOM!
A blinding explosion tore through the Dominion, a white-hot blast of mana and fire shredding the air, obliterating the ground. The shockwave threw Leo back, his katana shattering, fragments scattering like dying stars.
The domain quaked.
Valtharion stood amid the rubble, his armor in ruins, jagged scraps barely clinging to his form, blood pooling beneath him. His greatsword lay broken. He stared at the shattered katana, then at the throne where Leo had collapsed, slumped like a fallen king.
Leo’s body was numb, blood soaking his scarred chest, arms limp, barely conscious. His crimson eyes were half-open, glazed with pain, his breaths shallow, yet he sat upright, defiant like a monarch, the ring on his finger glinting faintly.
Valtharion swayed, his strength fading. He removed his dragon helm, revealing a striking face—ash-gray skin, sharp features, long red hair matted with blood, his mouth dripping crimson. His purple eyes, were dim, his mana core shattered, death closing in.
Step by step, he walks toward the throne, each movement a fight against his failing body. His boots dragged, leaving a bloody trail, his breath ragged, hand clutching his pierced chest.
Leo’s head tilted slightly, eyes struggling to focus as Valtharion approached, too drained to move, his body held together by sheer will.
Valtharion stopped before the throne, towering over Leo. A faint, weary smile crossed his bloodied lips. His trembling hand rested on Leo’s head, the touch oddly gentle, his purple eyes meeting Leo’s crimson ones.
