Chapter 104: 104. Abomination 1

P.S. Hey reading buddies! In the previous Chapter, I mentioned that Reo received 300 EXP points, but the correct number is actually 800.

Sorry for the mistake!

On the fifth floor of the prison of Treachery, called the Experimental Floor, in the extraction room.

Tile walls shine under shaky blue lanterns. A blood-stained iron table was in the middle, marked by years of awful deeds. Three cultists, their faces covered by blank, emotionless masks, moved like machines.

Their gray robes dragged on the floor as they set up their tools: glass vials, long needles, and a scary device with glowing red runes that seemed alive.

The iron door squeaked open, and two cultists dragged in a weak prisoner. His torn clothes barely covered his bruised, bony body, and his scared cries filled the room. "Please, no! Let me go!" His voice shook, too weak to fight as he stumbled forward.

The cultists, cold as stone, pulled him to the table without a word, slamming him down and tying his wrists and ankles with thick leather straps that cut into his skin.

The prisoner twisted, his voice cracking. "I’ll do anything—please, stop!" His begs bounced off the walls, but they’re ignored.

One, holding a needle linked to the rune device, spoke in a flat voice. "Start the draining." He stabbed the needle deep into the prisoner’s arm. The man gasped, jerking against the straps.

Another cultist turned on the rune device, its red light flashing, painting the room in a glow. Thin tubes from the machine hooked to small cuts on the prisoner’s chest. The device buzzed with a low sound, pulling a shiny gold mist—his soul—from the wounds.

The prisoner’s eyes went wide, a weak scream slipping out as his body shook, his skin turning pale like a ghost, his face sinking in with each buzz.

His fighting slowed, his cries turning to soft whimpers.

The machine stopped, its buzz fading. The prisoner’s head fell to the side, his breath gone, his empty eyes staring at nothing. The cultists kept working, pulling off the vials from the machine, one blue with glowing vial, one gold vial—and passing them to the third cultist.

"Take these to the processing room," one said, voice cold. Looking at the body, he added, "Get the next one ready. Now."

Leo let out a heavy breath, his body adding. He reached into his item box, grabbing two stamina potions from the Caulem manor. They weren’t as good as Elynn’s, but they’d help. He gulped them, the bitter taste steadying his heartbeat.

[Stamina Level Replenished: 54/59]

Then he gulped a mana potion, tossing the empty vial to the floor.

[Mana Level Replenished: 43/46]

His short sword, chipped and dull from the zombie fight, felt useless in his hand.

Walking through the eighth floor’s damp hallway, the air stinks of rot. Cells rattled as twisted zombies, way creepier from any movies he saw in his old world, slamming against the bars, their empty eyes following him, their growls chilling.

"What are these things?" Leo muttered. Draven had called them weapons, and that word stuck with him. He stopped, looking at a zombie clawing at its cell, its gray skin peeling, moving too fast for normal.

"A prison full of experiments and people," he said under his breath, smirking darkly. "This cult’s huge."

He kept walking, muttering, "But how’d they get all these people? Slave traders wouldn’t be enough."

A zombie’s claw swiped through the bars, nearly nicking him. Leo dodged, its loud growl echoing. "Hate me that much, huh?" he said, voice dry. "Gotta get Vivien out of this hell immediately."

A loud clang sound stops him off, followed by a scream that froze him completely, it’s not the zombies’ moans. A cell door exploded, and a giant monster stepped out—an abomination, over seven feet tall, its body a nasty mix of stitched flesh, rusty metal, and bare bone.

Its right arm was a sharp, foot-long blade. Its left arm was a fat claw. Its half-melted face had one red eye, the other just an empty hole. Its escape broke nearby cells, and four zombies stumbled out, joining it.

Leo’s eyes narrowed, heart racing. "What the hell is this?"

[Good Luck Reo!]

Up in a viewing room, Draven, Sylo, and Warden watched through thick glass. Warden smirked. "That’s our best monster we made. No way he can beat it."

Sylo frowned. "Something feels off."

Draven stayed quiet, amber eyes locked on Leo, jaw tight.

Leo muttered, "Well, damn. You’re new."

Then the abomination charged, its blade-arm swinging fast. Leo dove aside, the blade smashing the wall, sparks and rocks flying. The four zombies attacked, claws out, splitting his focus.

He swung his short sword at the abomination’s chest, but it just scratched the metal plates. "Useless," Leo growled, ducking as the creature’s claw swiped, tearing his coat.

A zombie came from the side, and Leo spun, cutting its head off with a hard swing. The abomination swung again, its blade shattering the floor. Leo rolled, barely escaping.

The three zombies closed in, too fast. Leo blocked one’s claws, but his sword broke, leaving a jagged piece. "Great," he said, gripping the broken blade in left hand. The abomination roared, charging. Leo smirked, stretching his arm as the Blood Dragger appeared in a flash of mana, its red blade shining red.

Ducking the abomination’s swing, Leo slid between its legs, slashing the Blood Dragger across its leg. blood sprayed, and the monster screamed, stumbling. Leo jumped up, facing the zombies. He threw the broken sword, its sharp end piercing a zombie’s head, killing it.

Moving fast, he stabbed the Blood dagger into another zombie’s chest, then sliced the third’s head off. The last zombie lunged, but Leo dodged, cutting its throat.

The abomination, back up, glared with its one eye, roaring loud enough to shake the hall. Leo ran, dodging as its blade-arm smashed walls, sending chunks flying.

He jumped, kicking off a cell bar, and twisted mid-air, stabbing the Blood Dagger into the monster’s shoulder. It staggered, but its claw swung, grazing Leo’s side. He slid across the floor, jumping behind the beast.

With a yell, he poured fire mana into the Blood Dragger, its blade glowing hot. He slashed its back, cutting deep through flesh and bone. The monster wobbled, its roars fading.

Leo climbed its back, grabbing a metal plate, and jammed the Blood Dragger into its neck, twisting hard. The blade pulsed, drinking the monster’s blood, and the abomination froze, then crashed down, shaking the ground.

Leo landed, panting, the Blood Dagger dripping in his hand. His coat was ripped, stained with blood. Before he could rest, a deep rumble came from the hallway’s end. Another abomination stepped out, its blade-arm shining, its red eye burning with rage.

Leo’s anger exploded, his voice a raw shout. "Fuck it, you bastard!"
