Lu Yichen, though rebuffed, was not angry; he continued, “Old Sir, there is something I would like to discuss with you alone, if I may?”

Such an abrupt request took everyone present by surprise.

Old Sir Zhong was puzzled, but he didn’t refuse. However, he had already decided, no matter what, he would not agree to an engagement this early.

Zhong Niangyao blinked her large eyes, also feeling puzzled. She couldn’t figure out what Lu Yichen was intending and was curious about how he planned to persuade her grandfather to agree to the engagement.

Old Sir Zhong and Lu Yichen retired to the study.

In less than fifteen minutes, both returned.
