Rita was suddenly shocked when she was asked that question. She wasn’t prepared for such a question tonight because she doesn’t even know where the painting came from as she had just sent one of her people to get a painting from X but right now she had to come up with a quick lie.

"Ohh, I wouldn’t mind sir. This particular piece took me alot of effort to acquire as I tried to contact X for a customized one."

The moment she said this, the entire place grew silent as everyone intently stared at her because they were surprised she was able to directly to contact X.

Her statement only made Mary’s smirk grow wider while something flashed by the man eyes, who asked her that question.

"But I thought X can’t be contacted directly, infact, no one ever has."

Someone said from the crowd and Rita looked the direction of the man evidently pissed but masked it well and when she noticed the man who said that was near Ian, she found Ian’s eyesight on her making her heart skip a bit but he was looking intently at the picture.

She felt her lady region soak with wetness since she lacked any undergarment just by his mistaken gaze, rising some confidence in her and a new motive. Her motive was simple and stupid as she made it her goal to make sure she gets laid by Ian tonight.

"Well sir, I am just like a magician, I can’t reveal my secrets. I had my ways to contact X and get this particular customized piece."

She replied to the man earlier and her whole self oozed with confidence which was immediately shuttered down by Mr Aaron’s(The art proffesional who questioned her first.) words.

"But this particular piece is fake miss."

She felt as if someone poured a bucket of cold water on her before she immediately denied.

"You must be mistaken sir, I spent a lot on this, it can’t be fake!"

She tried acting cool and civilised but her tone was telling a different story making the man laughed before he spoke again.

"Miss Ling, with all due respect, I won’t tolerate you calling me a liar and yet I have been in this profession for the last 2 decades."

The man paused before he continued and from his tone, people started doubting Rita’s words and the painting itself while Mother Mo internally smirked. She knew Mary had to do something with this. Not that she was going to stop anything because something exciting finally happened today!

"During all my years of experience, when X emerged, I tried contacting but couldn’t get to the artist no matter how much I even tried to use my influence and power."

"Not to shame you young lady but everyone in the art world knows this particular artist doesn’t do any custom works and doesn’t look like he/she will be doing it any time soon."

The moment the man finished his words, people suddenly came to their senses and started identifying her lies. Those who were praising her suddenly shut up because they felt the atmosphere change.

"That doesn’t prove anything sir!" Rita fought back but her anger was slowly rising up and she didn’t know how to control it, deciding to let herself go and shout, she couldn’t let this man embarrass her even though she knew the chances of this certain piece being real were very low.

"I am sure there are experts here even though they might not be upto my level but we all know that a real painting doesn’t have traces of brush bristles on it and as if that is not enough, the artist’s signature is normally on the top right of the frame and the bottom left but why does this particular one have a signature on the bottom right? "

This was enough proof already! The man didn’t need to go too deep for people to see that there was indeed a problem with the painting.

Before anyone could comment Jane came forward and took the microphone from the man. "Well, we will sort all this later on but for now, let us proceed please."

She immediately put the crowd in place as people nodded but not before someone shouted.

"We want to see your gifts to them! Especially the new matriarch of the Mo family!" This someone was none other than mother Ling.

She couldn’t stand her daughter being embarrassed and therefore wanted to embarrass Mary too, that girl took her daughter’s man! Ian is her son in law!

Everyone’s attention was immediately on Mary who decided to lead the group as she first headed to mother Mo, her mother, her beloved mother who gave her the love a mother would give to her real daughter and not an in law.

She grabbed Ian’s hand and handed mother Mo one gift first. It was a gift box, decorated in teal with sparkles and some glitters.

Mother Mo was actually excited and threw Rita’s ground on the ground intentionally.

She carefully opened the gift and the moment she saw what was inside, the lady complety froze making the crowd curious and anxious on Mary’s behalf. What made the Mo matriarch freeze to such a point.

Before anyone could recover from their earlier shock, Mary was immediately pulled into a bone crushing hug and the matriarch started shedding actual tears with an actual smile!

"What is not happening?"
