"Come on love, I told you I was going to come today to see grandma and grandpa today." Ian replied back loud enough for the elders to hear but Mary was busy facepalming herself inwardly because she knew what the man was upto.

"Hehe... grandma, grandpa we’ll be going for a little walk." She spoke immediately pulling the man rushing towards the garden leaving grandma Huang busy clapping like a kid who had just received candy. "Ohh honey, young love.. sigh..." She said as she admiringly watched the two go to the garden unbothered.

"Come on Ian, what was that?" Mary asked once they got to the garden, glaring at the man who seemed not to be bothered by anything.

"Come down Mary, if I am to marry, I have to gain favour from your grandparents you know that our marriage is different darling." He replied back making the girl nod after realizing that he had good reasons for what he just did.

"I guess you are right but next time you have to inform me to avoid being suspected." Mary replied but Ian could detect some sadness in her voice.

"Are you okay Mary?" His voice was extremely low and gentle as he spoke making the girl look at him directly in the eyes as she shook her head.

"As much as I agreed to this marriage Ian, I will never have a normal life like everyone else, I will not be able to experience love the right way, I will not be able..." She continued to state her facts but Ian did not look away even for a second and maintained eye contact and upon realizing everything she was saying was the truth he felt some sense of pressure before proceeding to silence her.

"Sssh..relax Mary.." He said brushing her hair gently as he maintained eye contact. "Do you believe we might end up falling in love one day and that the offsprings we produce will be out of our love for each other?" He asked once again and Mary only shrugged her shoulders as she replied, "I don’t know Ian.. I don’t know..."

There was silence between them but both of them knew that the eye contact they were maintaining was communicating alot and that they were both saying something to each other just by the eye contact.

Ian slowly cut the eye contact before lifting her chin with one of his hands as the other one went behind her neck. Mary was not fazed nor did she move as she wanted to see what the guy was going to do.

On seeing the girl seeming unbothered by his approach, Ian smiled slightly as he closed the gap between them, bringing his face close to hers to a point of their noses touching.

His lips started hovering around her face before finally stopping just before her lips and he looked up at her as if asking for her permission but when the girl did not say anything, his lips started hovering around her face once again before finally stopping on her forehead.

He gave her a long kiss on her forehead before adjusting their positions and making her head carefully lie on his chest as one hand brushed her hair and the other one holding her by the waist securely.

"I know our marriage is different Mary but I promise to give you the respect and love you deserve, doesn’t matter how hard it can be, I am ready to try and I hope that someday, maybe not far, we will create love and our own children out of our love for each other, I promise you.."

He didn’t finish his statement when he heard sniffles and he felt his shirt getting wet making him realize that the girl was crying scaring him in the process.

"Mary...I.. I.. am sorry okay, I didn’t mean to hurt.." He didn’t finish when the girl looked up and gave him a smile he can describe as the most sincere despite her eyes being watery and red.

"You didn’t hurt me Ian, I am just touched because no one has ever sounded this sincere to me, considering the fact that I have grown without any parental love..thank you Ian."

Ian was relieved for a second before thinking for a while and without their knowledge, their faces got closer and without any warning, Ian’s lips landed on hers. The girl did not delay and gave him access to a sweet but gentle French kiss.

They did not know that someone was watching them and that they were not the only ones in the garden. They were startled when they heard a big "Aaaaaw!" only to look back and find the the Lu elders looking at them with Grandma Lu and Mother Lu fangirling at them.

"Wait..you were all here? Like this whole time?" Mary asked nervously and the moment they nodded, she felt like she was really about to die from embarassement!

"Ohh crap! Ian you.. you.. Aaah.." She tried forming a sentence as she gave Ian slight slaps on his arms only to fail and run away from embarassememt leaving the elders laughing as Ian stared at her disappearing figure in pride, touching his lips as he proudly went after her.
