Chapter 127: Listening ear

Nicole did not know why and how but her arms voluntarily went around his waist and she hid her face in his chest as she burst into tears.

Peter did not need to be told what to do. He wrapped his arms around her as he shielded her and let her cry to her satisfaction.

Derick who was busy smirking suddenly stopped when he saw Peter Zhang. Despite the fact that he was confident, he knew he could not beat anyone from the top families.

His eye sight fell on the crying Nicole and he wondered why she was in his arms, why the man did not push her away unless... unless they were dating, they even wore matching outfits.

"No... this can’t be..."

He inwardly denied because he knew that if Nicole is dating Peter Zhang then how can he manipulate her or satisfy his needs like he did once?

He was inwardly disturbed but he suddenly had an idea and the man went back to his evil and mischevious mode.

Derick started getting closer despite the intimidating aura Peter was releasing.

The man gathered all his courage and whispered something only Nicole and Peter could get.

"Don’t be manipulated by this slut.. you know, I once tasted her, you won’t go after something I have used will you?"

Nicole froze and Peter’s hand that was consoling her froze as well.

Seeing his reaction made Derick happy that he walked away after repeating the same words happily, leaving the two frozen.

Nicole was the first one to gain her senses. She looked at the frozen Peter and smiled bitterly as she spoke.

"I am sure you wouldn’t want a broken friend, a woman like me as a friend or whatever you wanted from me, I am sorry and have a good day."

She wiped her tears but as she turned back, a strong arm grabbed her and she was spun around, her body coming into contact with his as she fell into his embrace.

Peter tried wiping her tears gently as he asked her, "Want to share? I can give you a listening ear if you want."

Nicole was startled first by the pull and now his gentle tone. Wasn’t he supposed to mock her and judge her because according to the outside world they are siblings?

Her confused reaction made the man want to laugh.

"I don’t judge people Nicole, everyone has their own side of the story and from his reaction, I can tell he harmed you somehow."

The man continued explaining.

Nicole looked at him carefully, "But.."

"I am a man Nicole and I am not stupid enough not to see what the man is upto, if you want to share, I am here. I know we are barely friends but I hope we can be.."

He smiled as he led her back into the room.

"I am sorry Mr.."

Before she could finish her statement, Peter cut her short.

"Peter, just Peter, Mr makes me feel old."

Nicole smiled slightly but her smile did not reach her ears.

"I.. I am not ready to open up M.. Peter.. "

Peter smiled as he called the waiter for the hotel bill.

"No problem Nicole, talk to me when you feel like it, I am here. With your permission can I take you somewhere relaxing? I feel like.. "

"You don’t need to finish, I am okay with your request."

She responded back before the man could continue.

Peter smiled and they stood up leaving the hotel but he did not know that his mother saw everything including Nicole punching and cursing Derick.

She proudly took out her phone and texted something in the group having all madams of the five families.

’Ladies, tomorrow we need to meet up, I have good news, the venue is our usual place.’

Her text excited the rest of the women but none could guess why mother Zhang was so excited.

On the other hand, Peter drove until he came to what seemed like a forest from the outside.

Nicole seemed confused and scared at the same time..why was the man bringing her to a forest? Was she going to get molested again?

Damn it! She just trusted a total stranger, how stupid!

The girl got uncomfortable that Peter could notice her uncomfort.

He was about to ask her but realized she was seriously running her eyes around the place he just parked his car. He noticed she had not undone her seatbelt and they had arrived.

The man leaned forward to help her only to hear a weak yet strong voice speak.

"Please let me go, do not harm me like him.."

Peter stopped, his arms in the air as he looked at the girl. It was then that he realized the man had really done something big for her to be this startled.

"Hey relax Nicole, it’s me Peter and I won’t hurt you, no one will hurt you with you by my side, I just wanted to help you with the seatbelt."

His voice was soft but Nicole was not having any if it, she pointed towards the forest and on following her line of sight, he realized what was scaring the girl abd chuckled a little.

"Ohh..that.. actually there is magic behind there.. I am not a bad person Nicole, I promise, whatever is behind there will make smile all the way, trust me okay?"

His voice was extra soft that the girl involuntarily nodded her head.
