Chapter 80: Uniting the races

It didn’t take long till the duo reached the cave, leading to the goblin village.

"Gather all the villagers, i have an announcement to make."

"Yes your majesty." Nodding, Yuma then proceeded inwards with the entrance closing. Turning jack took a big leap, covering a wide distance.

"One more." Leaping again, he landed softly to the ground with Karrie still in his arms. Gently walking in, he was first greeted by the patroll guards stationed at the entrance to the town.

"Chief! W-welcome back." The two male foxes bowed. Their eyes were filled with questions, they didn’t dare ask fearing for their lives.

Ignoring them jack calmly made his way into town. Not paying attention to all the praises and chants, directed at him.

He didn’t hate it no, finding it a bit amusing. but still, it was getting annoying. Passing through the crowds of locals, he made his way to his house.

"Bring some healing herbs to my hut and I don’t want any disturbances." Jack indifferently uttered, passing by the two elders.

"Your wish is our command." Fartrox and nym muttered, their heads slightly bowed.

’Just what happened over there?’ Fartrox wondered with inquisitive eyes. Glancing a peep at Jack’s back, disappearing from view.

’First we join forces with the goblins, our sworn enemies since thousands of years ago. And now, he comes back with only her?’ It was shocking, and happening all to fast for the sly orc to comprehend.

Entering his house he softly layed Karrie to the bed, wrapping her in the wool bedsheets. Taking his seat besides her on the bed.

[Her aura is weak but improving. It’s plausible she might be unconscious for some days, due to overexerting her body and technically dying.] Aethone spoke with a bit of sarcasm, earning a scoff from Jack.

"She’s helped me through tough times." Jack sighed, remembering his arrival here. He was weaker than most locals here, including Karrie and Jin. But somehow, he managed to defeat Jin and become the leader of this town.

Suffering deep injuries, the unconscious fox woman was the only one that tended to him. And also strangely accepted him as the chief. Yes! it seemed crazy at first, cause he didn’t trust her one bit. But now.. he couldn’t deny there was some growing bond, forming between them.

"Now I can’t seem to understand you." A light smirk escaped his mouth.

’Knock! Knock!’

"Chief! It’s me, fartrox. Am here alone with the healing herbs as you instructed." Standing, jack steadily made his way to the door. Opening it, he could see fartrox standing alone with a tray containing some items.

"Good. Rally the town at the square, I have an announcement to make." Jack sternly uttered, not waiting for fartrox response slamming the door shut.

’Announcement? What could he have in store?’ Fartrox wondered.

Usually, the gathering of all the locals at the town square was for an announcement. It was usually done by him and Nym. But in certain special cases, the chief gave the announcement.

[You know.. you’re taking a big decision if you do this.]

"I know and I’ve already made up my mind." There was no going back or stopping jack, his mind already made up.

’Hang on Karrie.’ He silently said, turning to stare at her one last time before leaving.

"Protect her with your lives." He sternly commanded, to which the two fox guards nodded with vigor.

Leaving his house, he made his way to the town square. Arriving, there was a huge crowd already gathered at the square before the small erected wooden podium.

There were some light chatters, which died off the moment jack stepped in light.

"Chief!" They all shouted bowing their heads. Slightly nodding, jack calmly made his way on top of the podium. Joining fartrox and nym.

"As requested chief, all the town locals are here." Nym uttered with a shaky tone.

Not responding jack passed the two old creatures, stopping at the edge of the podium.

"People of kilroi town.. am sure you’re all wondering what the special announcement is. Well, let’s not waste any more time shall we?"

"Most of you are unaware of this, but I solely headed to the ogre settlement." Jack calmly spoke making their faces go pale.

"What! H-he’s joking right?"

"No one dares go alone to the ogre settlement and comes back alive."

"Yeah.. Not even Jin dared tried it."

"B-but he doesn’t appear to be joking."

"Silence!" Jack demanded, his aura bursting out from him like a bomb.

"I know you all have questions, which will be answered but not now.. the rumors of high powered flesh eating ogre’s are true." Jack paused gritting his teeth. A thick green vein could be seen bulging, on the side of his head.

"We lost a great number of soldiers and the commander was also severely injured. But luckily, with the help of the goblin race we were able to defeat their forces." He calmly uttered, stunning the crowd even more.

"D-did he just say defeat, all their forces?"

"Ehmm.. y-yeah I guess."

"How is that even possible!?"

Looks of doubts and disbeliefs, were plastered to the locals faces. They weren’t aware of his quest to the ogre settlement, until Yuma arrived with a small goblin army.

At first they’d thought it was an invasion but surprisingly, it was the other way around. As the female goblin came asking for help, to rescue the chief.

But still, with their forces and jack it was still a suicide mission to infiltrate the ogre settlement. Not to mention successfully defeating all the enemies in it.

"Believe it or not, the ogre settlement was successfully cleared." He paused again this time with a frown.

"But, it doesn’t change the fact that there might still be other ogre’s lurking out there. Who’d stop at nothing to track and devour us all for food. And it’s only a matter of time before we’re found." A sharp gasp escaped the crowd mouth, blankly staring at jack.

"D-did he just say devour us for food?" Nym stuttered, his eyes slightly twitching. Even fartrox was affected by Jack’s words, vividly shaking in his boots.

"Oh my word, h-he’s dead serious.."

"What do we do!?"

"Am too young to die!"

Various screams and cries erupted, sending the crowds of kilroi town into a bit of a frenzy.

"Silence!" Jack yelled again releasing his aura, not dispersing it and keeping them pinned down.

"With our current strength the outcome is inevitable. And our territory is literally a cage for our demise, so staying here will be stupid." Rubbing his hands excitedly, a sly grin formed to jack’s curved lips.

"That’s why I’ve made up my decision, to relocate the entire population of this town to the goblin village." Once again, jack had surprised them with his ever shocking words.

"I know you have some bad blood with them but I promise, no harm will come to any of you." He vowed in a reassuring tone.

Listening to him they couldn’t deny he was serious, judging from his expression. And if there were some ogre’s tracking their scent, it would be the end of them.

First being they were in unfortified territory, barely any defenses or counter measures set up. Second being they were all weaker than the ogre’s, and would be squashed. And most important of all, being they didn’t want to get on jack’s bad side.

"Do any of you have any objections?" He asked, but no one dared to oppose him.

"Good, pack light items that are most important to you. We leave in 5 minutes." Not waiting for a response jack blazed off the podium.

"You can meet up with the rest now." He softly uttered, to which the guards nodded going away. Entering, he immediately gave karrie some sips of the strange green herb.

[Somehow her body vitals are responding to this herb, so she should be alright.]

’Can you tell when she’ll wake?’

[Am not entirely sure.. but depending on her body physics, she should awake in a few days or weeks.] Aethone said to which jack nodded.

"Ha.. I can hold onto that."

’Knock! knock!’

"Who’s there?"

"A-am sorry to intrude chief, but the locals are done and ready to move." Fartrox shaky voice responded, from the other side of the door.

"Gather at the exit of town, I’ll meet up soon." With that he quickly rummaged the room, grabbing whatever item aethone deemed essential.

"Time to leave." Placing karrie to his back he met up with the locals. Leading them to the goblin village destination.

It didn’t take long before they arrived at the small waterfall, going behind it to the hidden cave.

Pulling the lever below the cave parted in two, startling the crowd a bit. Their faces filled with disbelief and shock.

The air in the cave was damp with several lit up torches and blue stones, clinging to the ceilings. Rocky spikes stood upwards, with multiple traps laying across the floor.

"J-just what is this place?" The crowd shivered in shock, stepping through this land. They looked to their leader but he avoided them, his gaze focused in front.

"Finally, we’re out." Fartrox sighed, seeing light at the end of the cave. Potruding out, the group found themselves in a whole different environment.

"An ambush!" An orc screamed, seeing the scary group of goblins with weapons in front. They were mainly comprised of women and children, with no fully grown male.

Ignoring the crowd, a seductive female goblin stepped out. Falling to both her knees along with the rest.

"Welcome back your highness."
