Chapter 32: Chapter 32 The First Breakfast with Ignatius Leclair
Last night, when the incident occurred, Ignatius Leclair immediately controlled the severity of the situation. At most, Leo Yeager ended up with a gash on his head. Sending a business deal worth several billion his way would be enough to silence the Yeager Family. That head wound was worth billions. However, Maximilian could only vaguely gloss over these matters.
Delphine requested half a day off from the production crew and went back to the Leclair Estate for breakfast.
Breakfast at the Leclair Estate had always been a combination of Chinese and Western styles. Having lived in the United Kingdom for many years, Ignatius Leclair maintained Western dining habits. The other members of the Leclair family preferred Chinese cuisine, and Delphine herself was not fond of Western food.
Mrs. Carter had just woken up and was instructing the servant to prepare morning tea. When she saw Delphine, her complexion immediately changed, turning sour. Delphine had returned late last night, and the butler had said she had already retired to bed. The top floor was Ignatius Leclair’s domain, and Mrs. Carter would never set foot there.
"Delphine, come here." Still in her golden silk robe, her short hair styled into soft waves, Mrs. Carter exuded an elegant, sophisticated allure as she spoke coldly.
Delphine hesitated for a moment, then walked over.
"Do you understand Leo Yeager’s status within the Yeager Family? He’s destined to inherit the family business. Do you even know what the Yeager Family in Southeast Asia represents? The Yeager Family is one of the oldest aristocratic clans in Southeast Asia. They might not match the grandeur of the Leclair Estate or Cloud Family within the city, but they are a century-old powerhouse in Southeast Asia. And you had the audacity to strike him? If something goes wrong, not only you but I might get pulled into the fallout." Mrs. Carter’s delicately manicured nails pressed against Delphine’s forehead as her voice trembled with anger. "I admit I failed to guide you properly all these years, which is why you’ve become so reckless. If you won’t consider my position or think of little Zhen, at the very least, consider yourself. Do you really want to live such a shameful, half-lost existence, Delphine Carter?"
Delphine remained silent, her gaze fixed on Mrs. Carter, her eyes as dark as polished onyx, her heart ice-cold. In a low voice, she said, "You are merely my aunt. Even if something happens, it wouldn’t be on your shoulders. After all, no matter how powerful the Yeager Family may be, they wouldn’t dare disrespect Stone Leclair."
Her tone was like cold water, calm and detached.
Mrs. Carter trembled with rage. She raised her hand and delivered a slap.
The crisp sound of the slap echoed, plunging the side hall into a deathly silence.
Half of Delphine’s face went numb. She lowered her eyes, her body faintly trembling.
"Mr. Leclair." Maximilian called out softly.
Ignatius Leclair stood at the entrance of the staircase, his suit impeccably tailored, his demeanor regal and refined, his expression impassive. It was unclear how long he had been observing.
Mrs. Carter panicked after delivering the slap. Catching sight of the grim look in Ignatius Leclair’s eyes, she reached out, attempting to pull Delphine closer.
Delphine took a step back, lowering her gaze. Her expression grew even colder.
Mrs. Carter’s complexion suddenly turned pale, and she frantically tried to explain, "Delphine, Auntie was just anxious. I’ll handle matters with the Yeager Family and do my best to minimize the impact."
Delphine shook her head, her tone indifferent as she replied, "There’s no need. I’ve already taken care of it."
Mrs. Carter hesitated, her words caught in her throat. With Ignatius Leclair present, she couldn’t muster another sentence. Noticing the chilling expression on Ignatius Leclair’s face, she sighed and slipped away, retreating to her room.
"Go fetch some ointment for Miss Carter," Ignatius Leclair instructed the servant calmly.
The servant quickly brought the ointment. Delphine carelessly dabbed some on her face, while Ignatius Leclair had already taken a seat at the dining table, sipping coffee and listening to Maximilian’s briefing on the day’s itinerary.
When she glanced over at him, his deep, enigmatic eyes locked onto her. In a low voice, he said, "Come and have breakfast."
Delphine took a seat at the table. She watched as he poured the milk in front of him into her glass and served her a bowl of porridge. Her eyes stung slightly—a rarity in her memory, this was the first time she had ever shared breakfast with Ignatius Leclair.
