Chapter 207: Chapter 207: The altercation among the noble family was just as intense as that of the commoners in the market.

Ignatius Leclair returned to the Leclair residence, and the first thing he did was to take a bath and change clothes.

Delphine moved all the cat supplies she had brought back from the Squire Family to the veranda in the courtyard, placing them next to the dim yellow ground lamp. She then built a temporary shelter for the two kittens, fed them, and finally returned to the side hall.

"Miss Delphine, Mr. Leclair isn’t very fond of pets," the old butler cautiously said. "Perhaps we could set up the cat shelter near the wine cellar and assign someone to take care of them?"

Delphine indeed had no experience raising pets and didn’t know how to care for kittens. Upon hearing this suggestion, she nodded and said, "That will be troublesome for you, but please ask someone to look after them. It’s too late tonight; if the kittens are moved again, I’m afraid they’ll be scared."

"Understood." The old butler smiled, relieved that she didn’t insist on keeping the cats indoors.

As they spoke, Ignatius Leclair came downstairs dressed in a linen-gray loungewear. After his bath, his hair was slightly damp, and the carved lines of his face softened, appearing both handsome and gentle. He saw Delphine lingering at the veranda, playing with the two kittens, frowned, and said indifferently, "Didn’t you say you were hungry earlier? Go take a shower and come down to eat."

The man’s tone carried his usual commanding style.

Knowing his obsession with cleanliness, and hearing from the servants that Reginald Yeager had arrived, Delphine instinctively went upstairs to avoid Jocelyn Yeager.

Jocelyn had come over from the hospital, accompanied by the second elder of the Yeager Family.

Fresh from her shower, Delphine saw that there were still voices downstairs. Not only was the Yeager Family present, but Stone Leclair had also returned.

So much had happened today that it seemed destined to be a restless night. Delphine decided to simply go to sleep. She didn’t know how much time had passed before she was awakened by the man.

"Get up and eat something," Ignatius Leclair said, his face still carrying traces of anger. His handsome features, akin to being ink-stained, exuded a sharp intensity.

"I’m not eating." She touched his large hand and glanced at his wristwatch. It was 2 a.m., and she had long since passed the point of hunger.

Deep into the night, Ignatius climbed into bed, pulling her into his arms and speaking in a low voice, "Next time, ask the butler to bring you some food upstairs."

The man carried the crisp scent of late autumn and the resinous aroma of pinewood, an unusually pleasant smell.

Delphine stirred awake slightly, curling closer into his embrace, her voice hoarse as she asked, "Was there any progress after all the commotion?"

The aristocratic families stirred up arguments as fiercely as common townsfolk. Even in her drowsiness, Delphine had been awoken several times by the noise.

"Yes, they found the culprit. The staff at the stables were negligent, and there was an issue with the saddle," Ignatius replied simply.

Given the gravity of the incident, the Yeager Family could hardly escape accountability and had no choice but to offer a scapegoat.

Members of the Yeager Family played good cop and bad cop — Jocelyn Yeager took on the role of self-recrimination, while the second elder sobbed like an operatic matron. Stone Leclair was furious about how this disaster not only damaged the tripartite alliance but also offended Griffith Squire in the process.

After such a night of arguments, it was no surprise Ignatius Leclair’s expression was grim.

Delphine paid little attention to all this, instead huddling closer to the man’s broad, warm embrace, murmuring hoarsely, "I’m worried about Leah. I’m thinking of traveling to Switzerland."

Ignatius’s gaze suddenly deepened, and his slender, phoenix-like eyes flashed with a trace of hostility. He propped himself up, trapping her beneath him, his voice husky and somber: "Taking care of her two cats isn’t enough? Now you want me to protect them on top of that?"

His voice carried suppressed anger.
