Chapter 12: Chapter 12 You Just Have a Good-looking Face
"The moment I came back, I heard you offended the vice mayor’s wife. Do you even know how infamous that woman is in Nanyang? Her husband is out playing around with young models every day, while she’s constantly fighting with mistresses. Why are you getting involved in other people’s mess?"
Jason stomped his foot in anger, pacing back and forth furiously in the office. Then, he grabbed Delphine and started dragging her out.
Delphine had low blood sugar, and she always felt a little dizzy when she got up. When Jason yanked her like that, she fell straight to the ground. Jason gasped sharply, hurriedly helping her up, so furious he could barely contain himself.
"You—you—you really just rely on your pretty face. I swear, I don’t even know how to talk sense into you anymore."
That fall snapped Delphine fully out of her dizziness. She pressed a hand to her aching forehead, wincing slightly, and muttered quietly, "Don’t worry. That vice mayor’s wife doesn’t have many good days left ahead of her."
"Is there really someone coming from Imperial City for an inspection?" Jason’s fury paused at her words. He asked cautiously.
Delphine nodded. Jason stared at her for two seconds, then let out a dismissive laugh. He poked at her serious little face and sneered, "What a fool. Do you even know who’s backing that vice mayor’s wife? The Wade Family from Nanyang, one of the Four Grand Mansions. Do you think she’d be acting this brazen if she didn’t have them behind her? Forget it, I’m not wasting more breath on this. Let me send you to the film set so you can lay low for a while."
Jason dragged her out in a whirlwind. As they left, others in the office saw them and started whispering among themselves. Delphine caught bits of their chatter.
The gist of it was that she had offended the vice mayor’s wife, and staying in Nanyang might no longer be an option for her.
Delphine kept her expression indifferent, saying nothing as she followed Jason to the film set. The project Jason mentioned was a big fantasy blockbuster titled *Beyond the Sky,* directed by Tristan, who was often referred to as a genius.
The casting for the film had already been finalized long ago. However, one of the actresses cast as a supporting role had recently gotten injured while filming another movie and wouldn’t be able to shoot for the time being. Jason’s boyfriend, who worked with the crew, found out they were looking to re-cast the role and immediately rushed to drag Delphine over.
"I’ve asked around. Even though this is a supporting role, the director is Tristan, after all! The leads are Charles Taylor, the Best Actor, and Natalia Zamora, the Best Actress. This movie’s box office is sure to explode. You really need to grab this chance and hold onto it tightly."
As soon as Jason got in the car, he completely forgot about the vice mayor’s wife. Feeling optimistic about the future, he smiled and said, "Delphine, I’m pinning all my hopes on you. If you dare fail me, I’ll definitely go die in front of you!"
Being a talent agent was an intensely competitive industry. Jason had made a name for himself in this circle, previously a Gold Medal agent at a major company. But due to certain incidents in the past, he was set up and framed, which led him to fall to his current position at a third-rate company, managing third-rate celebrities. When he met Delphine, he went through great lengths to persuade her to sign with his company, all to nurture one superstar whom he could bank on to revive his career.
Delphine had heard this spiel from Jason no less than twenty times before. Seeing him act like this, she could only nod and say, "I’ll do my best."
Since it was a fantasy film, most of the scenes were done with special effects rather than on-location shooting.
When Delphine arrived, the crew was already filming.
Joy walked out carrying the script, and when he saw Delphine, he seemed slightly stunned. He nodded and quietly commented, "The looks are definitely there. For this movie, there are twenty or thirty key supporting female roles, and the first requirement is good looks. As long as she has even a bit of acting talent, she’ll fit right in."
Hearing this, Jason grew a little excited.
The crew over there started shouting that they were ready and called for the next person to audition.
