Chapter 114: Chapter 114: A Glance That Ignites a Flame in the Heart

When the two arrived at Squire Manor, the lamps had just been lit, and luxury cars lined the streets of the estate.

Leah parked her car casually by the roadside, took Delphine’s arm, and, wearing seven-inch heels, walked into the manor. They had come a bit late; the estate’s lights were all on, creating a sea of illumination that turned the place into a semblance of daylight. Elegant countertops arranged around the manor brimmed with an endless flow of fine wine and gourmet delicacies.

No servants were present; instead, members of the Squire Family dressed in camouflage uniforms bustled through the estate. Griffith Squire had yet to make an appearance but had already managed to intimidate the elites attending the banquet.

"Jocelyn, who exactly are the Squire Family? I heard even my big brother is attending their banquet," Bessie Leclair asked coyly, annoyed by the incessant flattery from the other socialite ladies surrounding her. Ordinarily, Ignatius rarely bothered to attend such important occasions, and ordinary people certainly had no hope of inviting her cousin.

Jocelyn Yeager, clad in a gray suit, had come to represent the Yeager Family after being discharged from the hospital. His handsome face still bore traces of pallor.

"Beyond the four major families of the South Seas, there will soon be a rising new elite," Jocelyn murmured softly, holding a glass of champagne, his lips curled into a subtly meaningful smile. Although Griffith’s influence had been instrumental in dealing with Leo Yeager this time, no one had anticipated Stone Leclair’s reckless decision to let a wolf into the fold by bringing the Squire Family into the South Seas.

The Leclair Family, it seemed, was becoming increasingly intriguing.

As he spoke, a stir erupted at the entrance. Jocelyn’s gaze froze, and from a distance, he caught sight of Delphine entering, his grip on the champagne glass tightening.

She had cut her hair short and donned an off-the-shoulder champagne-colored gown that accentuated her slender figure and graceful neck. She seemed to gleam softly, radiant and elegant. Jocelyn felt a wave of warmth cascade over his icy interior, as though spring water were melting snow, compelling him to walk toward the entrance unconsciously.

Bessie’s expression changed instantly at the sight. Her fingertips clenched so desperately that her freshly painted nails snapped off with a crisp sound, and she trembled all over in anger. She had known deep down that this shameless Delphine wasn’t one to behave properly; not content with seducing her older brother, she had now managed to lure Jocelyn as well.

"Bessie, didn’t I tell you they were involved? You just wouldn’t believe me," Yvonne Wade started gloating as she spotted Jocelyn heading toward Delphine with her sharp eyes. "Her background’s bad, and she plays the pity card well—it’s the easiest way to trigger a man’s instinct to protect her."

Bessie’s pretty face hardened as she cast a glance at Yvonne, suddenly asking, "Is your big brother here?"

Yvonne’s elder brother, Thiago Wade, lived up to his name as the infamous tyrant of the South Seas. With generations of the Wade Family having only one male heir per generation, Thiago was their sole son in this era, while the rest were daughters. Thiago’s reputation for causing chaos was unmatched, with his family always cleaning up his messes.

Having grown up alongside Bessie Leclair, Yvonne had bullied Delphine numerous times. Hearing Bessie’s question, she immediately understood her meaning and laughed behind her hand. "Do you think my brother would miss an occasion like this? He’s probably off tangling with some woman as we speak."

As Bessie stared at the transformed Delphine, now resembling a graceful swan, jealousy flickered beneath her eyes.

Delphine entered the manor with Leah in tow, drawing immediate attention from the crowd. Leah, unfamiliar to most, was stunningly beautiful, the kind of beauty that could ignite desire at a single glance. Delphine’s aloof yet refined aura complemented her short hair and elegant features. Together, the two commanded nearly all eyes in the room.

Above them, a man leaned leisurely against the railings on the second-floor balcony, noticing the commotion below. With a lazy voice, he asked, "Has Ignatius arrived yet?"

"He’s just reached the entrance."

Griffith Squire curved his lips into a bloodthirsty smile.
