Chapter 93: Chapter 093: Big Fish Fishing Method

Without realizing it, time had drifted to a little past eleven in the morning, and after landing about another ten fish at the fishing spot, most people fishing along the shore had stopped biting.

Lin Yang turned his head to look around and then said, "Immortals struggle to fish at noon, The fish mostly stop biting around midday. I’m going to stop the livestream for now, but if the fishing improves, I’ll continue streaming in the afternoon."

After turning off the livestream, he got up to stretch his somewhat stiff body, then proceeded to unpack the fermented corn from the box behind him.

"Uncle, Brother Bo, shall we bait the spot some more?" he called out from a distance.

Yang Xincheng said, "Let’s top it up, since they’ve all tailed off anyway. The catfish and carp have started biting, but we haven’t caught any big ones yet; we definitely can’t stop baiting!"

Wang Bo replied, "Sure, I’ll start cooking! I’ll prepare a couple of fish for a fancy dish for lunch!"

Knowing that the catfish and carp were biting, Lin Yang significantly increased the amount of bait he used, throwing two bags of fermented corn directly into his fishing spot with vigorous splashes.

Recalling that earlier, Zhang Qiang and this other guy hadn’t even greeted when baiting their spots, Lin Yang felt no psychological ripple as he baited his spot, treating others the same way he had been treated.

However, this newly displeased Wu Tian and his companion, who had just set up their own bait an hour ago, were getting bites albeit slowly, but just when Lin Yang replenished his bait, their bites had ceased immediately.

"Hey, dude! Could you give a heads-up before baiting? I just started getting bites here, and now because of your meddling, they’ve stopped!"

Zhang Qiang didn’t dare say anything, but Wu Tian, visibly annoyed, spoke up.

Lin Yang looked up at him, "Oh."

Seeing Lin Yang respond with just a word infuriated Wu Tian, who righteously accused, "How can you be so unreasonable? Don’t you have any public spirit?"

Lin Yang chuckled coldly, "Did you guys greet anyone when you came over just now? Right now, you can’t even consider it slow biting. I was catching continuously just before, could you reflect on yourselves before accusing others?"

"I...."

Wu Tian was at a loss for words, unable to articulate a response for a long time.

Lin Yang, not wanting to be entangled with them further, secured his rod with a safety rope and then stood up to go and replenish his bait spot.

Only when Lin Yang had walked away did Wu Tian angrily snuff out the half-smoked cigarette on the ground, hissing a curse under his breath.

...

Replenishing the bait at several spots with the fermented corn was quick, taking less than ten minutes to complete all five or six spots.

After washing his hands, Lin Yang headed to the temporary kitchen next to the camp.

It was worth mentioning that Wang Bo’s camping equipment was indeed impressive; the kitchen set up under the canopy was remarkably cool, even close to noon.

The metal frame that Lin Yang hadn’t figured out earlier turned out to be a detachable, foldable, double burner stove, equipped with a gas cylinder, camping pots, a cutting board, a kitchen knife, and all sorts of small household utensils.

Lin Yang said, "The bait spot is replenished. Do you need a hand with anything here?"

Wang Bo, who was bending over the basin working on a big carp, looked up and said, "I’m planning to make sauerkraut fish with this big carp. You caught quite a few Big Plate Crucian Craps this morning, right? Bring over a couple of the bigger ones and I’ll make a braised Crucian Carp as well."

"Sure, I’ll grab two big ones," Lin Yang replied, turning to walk towards his fishing spot.

Back at his fishing spot, he glanced at the float in his area, which showed no activity.

The next second, Lin Yang tightened his hold on the fish keeper net and pulled up the morning’s catch.

This action drew a stare from Wu Tian, who saw that Lin Yang had been continuously catching all morning, fishing up quite a few fish, but he hadn’t expected there to be so many — at least several dozen kilograms of very decent-sized Crucian Carp.

Lin Yang, without any unnecessary words, swiftly selected two larger Big Plate Crucian Carps from the fish keeper.

Carrying the two large Crucian Carps to the kitchen, he casually grabbed a kitchen knife, and with a couple of strikes of the knife’s spine to the heads of the fish, he easily slaughtered them.

What followed were the enjoyable tasks of cleaning out the innards and scraping off the scales; Lin Yang finished these with practiced ease.

In less than five minutes, the two large Crucian Carps were prepped.

Lin Yang said, "The fish are ready, they look lean and the flesh seems firm."

"Great, just leave the fish here, I’ll take care of the rest," Wang Bo said.

He picked up a knife from the rack, made a few decorative cuts on the bodies of the Crucian Carps, smeared them with a mix of green onions, ginger, rice wine, soy sauce, and other seasonings, then finally coated them in a layer of flour before frying them in hot oil....

Half an hour later, a table full of dishes was ready.

Vacuum-packed roasted chicken served, drunken peanuts served, chive and organic egg stir-fry, sauerkraut fish, and the just-prepared braised Crucian Carp and a spicy shredded potato salad.

Six simple dishes, just missing a soup.

"Wash your hands, let’s get ready to eat. Lin Yang, go call Old Yang and the others, I mentioned it to them earlier."

"Okay."

Lin Yang walked a few steps to Yang Xincheng and their fishing spot, shouting, "Uncle, it’s time to eat!"

"Okay, coming right now!" Yang Xincheng replied, then went back to the car with Li Xiaopeng to bring down a few cases of Tsingtao beer.

"Wow, Wang Bo, your cooking skills are impressive, such a feast!" Yang Xincheng said with ease.

"It really smells good!" Li Xiaopeng sniffed and gave a thumbs up.

Wang Bo wiped his hands with a towel, took off his apron, and said with a laugh, "This is nothing, when it comes to eating, I do have some expertise. We should all go to my place sometime. I’ll cook some serious dishes for you. The conditions are limited when we’re out fishing, so we make do. Don’t be shy, we’re all friends here!"

"Ha-ha, well that’s just great. Don’t just stand there, sit down and let’s eat. This morning, to get here a bit earlier, I only had two buns on the road, and then got stuck in traffic for most of the morning. I’m starving." Yang Xincheng, a rather straightforward person, sat down, started opening beers, and began to chow down with everyone.

It’s not easy to have a hot meal while fishing outdoors, and having a few friends to chat and drink with makes it even more enjoyable.

Although Wang Bo, Tai, Yang Xincheng, and Li Xiaopeng weren’t very close, with Lin Yang acting as a bond, everyone got along harmoniously.

A meal with five grown men, with plenty of beer and meat, was thoroughly enjoyable.

Lin Yang and his group were having a great time, but not far away at another fishing spot, Wu Tian and Zhang Qiang were feeling rather miserable.

They took a thermos out of the car to make instant noodles, only to find that the thermos no longer retained heat. The noodles didn’t soak properly, and as they smelled the food from a distance, their spirits were low.

They made do with sausage, instant noodles, and peanuts, washed down with lukewarm, tepid water for their meal.

....

Lin Yang and the others were full and content by around one in the afternoon.

Everyone controlled their alcohol intake well, and after eating, they all hurried to clean up, washing dishes and whatnot before they dispersed.

After spending more than an hour baiting the spot, Lin Yang tried his luck at his own fishing spot with a few casts, but got no bites. So he leisurely walked back to the tent, greeted everyone, and decided to take a nap.

Having not slept well the previous night, a quick midday nap was very much in order. Yang Xincheng was more addicted; he stayed at his fishing spot even through midday, ready to call others if he got a bite.

Around two-thirty in the afternoon, Lin Yang was woken up by Yang Xincheng’s call. He quickly got up from the moisture-proof pad and stepped out of the tent.

This time, Yang Xincheng had a bite!

And it was on a long rod. The eight-meter rod curved beautifully as the line made a whizzing sound.

"Uncle, how’s the strength? Is it a big one?" Lin Yang asked.

"Probably average, at most five or six pounds!" Yang Xincheng held the rod effortlessly as he reeled in the fish. After a few rounds, he landed a carp, about the same size as the one Wang Bo had caught in the morning.

With a fish on the line, there was no more sleeping. Lin Yang washed his face and returned to his fishing spot to continue fishing.

He picked up his nine-meter rod and frowned slightly. For some reason, only a tiny bit of the skin of the corn on the twin hooks was left, probably pecked away by the smaller fish.

After replacing it with fresh corn, he casually cast the rod back into the water, setting the long rod aside.

Just as he was about to rebait the shorter rod, he caught a glimpse from the corner of his eye of the float on the long rod suddenly going under!

In the reservoir, having corn jerked under was irresistible. Lin Yang put down the crucian carp rod and quickly picked up the large rod.

However, the force coming from the line was very strong, and the fish charged inward the moment it exerted its strength. Lin Yang was caught off guard, and the rod was quickly pulled down flat.

Seeing this, he evaded the force by letting go, allowing the rod to be pulled into the water.

This situation was dangerous; if the rod kept being pulled after being leveled, it could easily snap the hook and the line, allowing the fish to escape. Lin Yang’s reaction was right on point; he let go to dodge the edge and hung on since it was tied to a "Losing Hand Rope."

After the fish’s initial surge calmed down, Lin Yang slowly pulled the rope back, grabbed the rod, and gradually arched it again.

The fish underwater had tremendous strength, pulling the rod into a large arc. After moving back and forth a bit, when the large fish surged forward again, Lin Yang relaxed and then tightened, slowly playing the fish.

Five minutes later, the fish came out of the water.

It was a carp, roughly between eight to nine pounds, very sturdy and quite beautiful. Yang Xincheng, sitting not far away, came over with a big net to help him scoop it out.

"Nice, this fish is worth a live promotional video," Lin Yang said, taking his phone out to film the big carp on the ground.

After filming, he secured the big fish and then started his afternoon live stream.

"The host is not being fair, got a big fish and didn’t stream it."

"Exactly, that carp on the cover looks about ten pounds, right?"

Lin Yang smiled and replied, "The fish weighs roughly eight to nine pounds, probably not quite ten. The carps are a bit thinner these days."

"Now that it’s the afternoon and the water temperature has risen a bit, I suspect that the big fish might bite soon. Everyone, don’t rush; let’s give it a try this afternoon."

Just as he finished speaking, Wu Tian’s float right next to them went under!

Whoosh!

A sharp sound of setting the hook rang out, Lin Yang’s phone camera pointing directly at the front managed to catch this biting view.

But it lasted less than two seconds before seeing Wu Tian’s rod not even fully raised, the fish furiously charging forward made the rod tremble non-stop. After a tense second, the rod snapped back and the fish escaped.
