Chapter 723: Chapter 303: Total Diarrhea _3
Lin Yang looked at the curry-colored fish soup in his bowl and the corners of his mouth twitched ever so slightly. He had no idea what had been added to it, but not only was the color bizarre, even the flavor was something Lin Yang had never encountered before.
It wasn’t that it tasted bad, nor could you say it tasted good; it was just plain weird.
With the captain eagerly awaiting their response, Lin Yang and his companions braced themselves and took a tentative sip.
True to its appearance, the taste of the fish soup was off-putting. Very unusual indeed.
"Not bad," Lin Yang commented, "it’s just a bit too hot."
After taking a sip, Lin Yang reluctantly gave the captain a thumbs-up and then, using the excuse that the fish soup was too hot, he set it aside and focused his attention on the other, more normal-looking foods.
The others followed suit, sufficiently humoring the local captain’s hospitality.
And those bowls of fish soup, left to cool on the side, were never picked up again.
Apart from the odd fish soup, the rest of the food was quite enjoyable, and everyone ate until their bellies were round and full, feeling very content.
Having had their fill, the group played around on the island for the rest of the afternoon before returning to their hotel.
The night still featured a bonfire party, but unlike the uneventful previous evenings, something happened this time.
"Damn...I need to step out for a sec."
As everyone was sitting by the fire chatting, Wang Meng suddenly felt a sharp pain in his stomach, followed by an urgent sensation, and after quickly excusing himself, he waddled off in the direction of the restroom.
He had felt slightly off since the bonfire party had started, noticing that the usually comforting heat of the flames felt oddly chilly to him tonight.
Something was amiss.
He didn’t think too much of it, attributing the discomfort to the fatigue from fishing the day before, the scuba diving today, and the excessive seafood consumption, believing a good night’s rest would set things right by tomorrow.
Others among the tourists, including Li Xiaopeng and Yue’er, also found themselves rushing one after another to the restroom.
Lin Yang was a bit late in feeling the disturbance in his stomach, like there was something wanting to burst forth and see worldly society.
Combining the belly rumbles, he couldn’t determine whether it was a solid, a gas, or perhaps a liquid!
All he could do was to shuffle off in tiny steps, planning to make a small deposit.
Upon entering, a foul stench assaulted his nostrils.
The tourist infrastructure must’ve been quite developed here, the restroom housing five large stalls.
Lin Yang walked from the first to the fifth, only to find that the door handles of all five bore a red sign, signaling occupied stalls.
But it was possible someone had engaged the deadbolt with the door open; the only way to know for sure would be to push on the doors.
He pushed the door; it wouldn’t budge.
"Occupied."
He tried another, and it was engaged as well.
After trying all five, it turned out every stall was occupied.
What the hell, since when did the restroom become so busy?
No, wait, Lin Yang recalled that several of his companions had headed toward the restroom not long ago. Could it be that their whole group was suffering from stomach troubles at the same time?
Thinking about the seafood feast they had at noon, it seemed quite possible.
Somehow, Lin Yang’s mind drifted to the captain’s special dish he had cooked up. Wasn’t it possible something had gone wrong with that?
However, the most pressing matter was tackling the issue of his backend that was close to giving way.
"Guys, how much longer are you going to be in there?" Lin Yang couldn’t help but call out in frustration.
"Uh... sploosh... Eh? Cousin, are you feeling unwell too? I don’t think I’ll be finished anytime soon," came Li Xiaopeng’s slightly surprised voice from the second-to-last cubicle.
"Sploosh... Are all of you having stomach issues? Ugh, looks like we might have eaten something unclean at lunch, I won’t be done fast either," a somewhat familiar voice said from the third stall, but Lin Yang couldn’t identify who it was.
"Sploosh... I won’t be quick either."
"Rustle and splash... me too."
Lin Yang looked around the empty restroom, then at the five locked stall doors, and once more at the entrance to the restroom which had no door at all, his brows furrowing deeply.
"Hey~"
They say rules are dead and people are alive, can a living person really be killed by holding in their pee?
With the men’s restroom stalls currently booming with business, wasn’t there the women’s restroom next door?
And if he wasn’t mistaken, there should only be Yue’er there, but with the situation being as urgent as it was, and the backdoor at risk of breach at any moment, he couldn’t afford to care about so much.
Immediately, he shuffled over to the women’s restroom entrance with small, quick steps.
"Anyone there? Anybody here?"
No one responded.
This wasn’t scientific; could Yue’er have finished so quickly?
"I’m going in now? I’m going in?"
"Brother Yang, someone’s here."
Only after Lin Yang announced he was going in did a weak female voice respond from inside; it was Yue’er’s voice.
"This is... worldly society to the rescue! The men’s guest stalls are full to bursting, so I can only come here."
"... then come in, sigh, I reckon it’s something we ate at noon that’s causing this."
Yue’er hesitated for a few seconds but eventually allowed Lin Yang to enter the women’s stall area.
After all, as long as there were separate stalls and he wasn’t some utterly despicable lowlife, it shouldn’t be a major issue.
"Then I’m going in."
With no time to spare and the backdoor situation becoming increasingly dire, Lin Yang dared not delay; he entered the restroom and chose a stall a bit further from where Yue’er was and crouched down.
"Rustle and splash~ Whew~"
After letting it all out, he finally breathed a sigh of relief.
And then came the awkward silence.
After taking care of business, Lin Yang sneakily left the women’s stall area, as it wasn’t a place to linger. If there had been other women around, things would have been hard to explain.
Lin Yang headed back to the campfire first, and after waiting a while, he didn’t spot anyone else.
Half an hour later, he started to feel something was not right; why hadn’t anyone come back yet?
Had they become addicted to pooping, or were their legs too numb to move?
But half an hour seemed too long for a simple stomach ache; it could only be food poisoning from eating something toxic.
Thinking of the possibility, he immediately returned to the men’s restroom stalls.
"Xiao Peng, are you guys okay? Should I call an ambulance?"
Staying in the bathroom for half an hour was a serious situation, and several people were affected, which was a clear sign of food poisoning.
As for why he himself was fine after just a few minutes, Lin Yang guessed it must have something to do with his physique.
"Yue...."
From one of the stalls, some friend started vomiting.
Vomiting and diarrhea, unmistakable symptoms of food poisoning.
"It’s pretty clear you guys have food poisoning. Can you come out now? If not, I’m calling an ambulance."
"Let me see... crap, my legs are numb from squatting too long...."
Li Xiaopeng assessed his condition and finished cleaning himself up, thinking he wouldn’t need to go again, and tried to stand up, but his legs wouldn’t cooperate. Moreover, as he moved, he felt a prickling sensation, spreading from his feet and providing an intense tingling.
"Rustle and splash...."
The backdoor was still in danger of being breached.
