Chapter 591: Chapter 257: Extreme Northern Style_3
One was a man who looked a bit like Ivan, but was slightly older.
The other was a well-built woman, dressed for the outdoors, looking very capable.
Introduced by Captain Victor, they were his eldest son, Vania, and daughter-in-law, Anna.
They were married and had a child, whom Captain Victor’s wife was taking care of at home. The couple had come all the way from their residence in Soviet Port to bring stored game meat from home to treat Lin Yang and their distinguished guests.
Before they knew it, the sky outside had darkened, Tina and Anna went to the camp kitchen to prepare dinner, and once it was completely dark, dinner was ready.
Although Lin Yang was prepared, the richness of the dinner still exceeded his expectations.
He had already experienced things like cheese and sausages, which could only be considered the basic offerings at the table. More impressive was the game Vania brought, which included bear paws and deer legs.
It is said that one cannot have both fish and bear’s paws, but in the remote camp, they tasted wild flavors on the dining table that were almost impossible to find in China.
Black fish roe, steamed bear paws, deer leg meat cooked with unknown spices, and succulent Silver Trout—these were delicacies that were hard to come by in China even if one had the money, but Lin Yang got to try them all during his first meal at the camp.
Keep in mind that these items were not reflected in the quoted price; they were purely out of the kindness of Captain Victor’s family.
Beyond the precious ingredients, Lin Yang also experienced the bold drinking spirit of the Russian men. The three grown men each had a 750ml bottle of Vodka, and they also gave one to Lin Yang.
Once the main course started, it was a whirlwind of toasts, and before the meal was even over, most of the alcohol was gone.
Fortunately, Lin Yang was prepared. He excused himself, citing stomach discomfort, and didn’t open his vodka bottle, opting for juice instead.
If he had drunk that one and a half liters of spirits, it might have been difficult to get up on time the next day.
After a full meal, it was already past 8:30 pm, Lin Yang took a hot shower then went to his room early, ready for a bigger challenge tomorrow.
The night before, he had traveled by plane and had hardly rested during the day. After a full meal, he and Yue’er went back to their room to rest early.
Two people, two beds, each sleeping on their own.
Despite the fatigue from traveling, Lin Yang, who was particular about his beds, did not sleep well, especially at midnight when the howls of unknown beasts echoed from the distant woods, startling him awake several times throughout the night.
In contrast, Yue’er slept much deeper; she didn’t wake up once the entire night, not even when the howling of the beasts was at its loudest.
Clearly, sharing a room with Lin Yang, the young girl felt very secure.
....
The next morning, Lin Yang was awakened by his internal clock.
Checking the time, it was exactly six o’clock. He looked out the window—it was a bit cloudy, and the sky was overcast.
Opening the window, he found the temperature outside was a bit low, but still bearable.
He got up, put on a long-sleeved sun-protective shirt, woke Yue’er, and the two of them quickly washed up. Victor’s family was also awake.
"Good morning Lin Yang, you seem a bit under the weather. Didn’t sleep well last night?" Uncle Victor asked with some concern.
Lin Yang rubbed his eyes, which were dark-circled, and said, "Last night I heard beast howls from the distant woods, and I woke up several times. Are there any predators around the camp this season?"
Victor nodded with a chuckle, "If I’m not mistaken, it was probably a brown bear. You know, many wild animals are actually nocturnal, relatively quiet during the day but active at night for hunting and feeding.
We’re close to a water source here, so it’s normal to have wild animals nearby. However, there are dogs in the camp, and over time they’ve learned it’s troublesome to come here unless it’s the harsh winter when food is scarce. This season is still relatively safe."
"That’s good. Maybe if I get a bit more used to it, I’ll be able to sleep tonight."
"Tina has already prepared breakfast. Let’s eat first, and then I’ll start your itinerary for today."
"Ok!"
Compared to the super luxurious dinner, the breakfast was much more normal.
Soft bread, sausages, along with sauerkraut and pickles. Lin Yang and Yue’er, who were becoming accustomed to Russian food, were very satisfied and quickly finished their meal.
After eating, Victor and Ivan had also finished preparing for today’s outing. Big Ivan helped Lin Yang with a hard-shelled gear bag, and the group of four quickly reached the small dock at the southeast corner of the camp.
There were four boats at the dock, one of them at least thirty meters long, and another just over twenty meters, of medium length.
Lin Yang was surprised to find that they were not going to ride in the big boat today, but one of the two smaller boats that were side by side.
This boat was only about five meters long, and looked like it had been used for many years, with somewhat patchy paint, and appeared quite simple.
"Aren’t we taking a bigger boat?" Lin Yang, not knowing what Uncle Victor had planned, asked curiously.
Victor explained, "Today I’m taking you to a tributary of the Kubi River. It’s the dry season now, and the water level is quite low. The big boat could easily run aground. With just a few of us, a smaller boat is more convenient."
"Ah, got it."
Lin Yang nodded and followed Victor onto the small boat, and Yue’er, following his lead, also boarded.
"Uncle, I’m about to start a live fishing broadcast. The footage will be seen by fishing fans in China. If you prefer not to show your face, I can set it up in advance to block it out," Lin Yang inquired before starting the broadcast.
He specifically asked for Captain Victor’s opinion beforehand.
Uncle Victor nodded, "I have no objections. In fact, if you can help me attract some clients from China through your live broadcast, I would be very happy!"
"No problem," Lin Yang agreed without hesitation.
