Chapter 442: Chapter 210: Suspecting Cheating_2
"Excuse me for asking, but what is that phone on your boat used for? Are you locating fish with it?" the bald white man pressed on.
Hearing this, Lin Yang finally understood why the other party had chased after them—it was the live streaming equipment that had caught their attention.
Lin Yang shook his head, "That’s my equipment for live streaming. Actually, I’m an outdoor fishing host with millions of followers. If you’re interested, you can check out the live stream footage on my personal device."
Seeing him volunteering information, the two judges promptly moved their boat closer, and the bald white man even took the phone from him.
Indeed, the phone screen showed the ongoing live stream with the surroundings clearly visible.
What surprised the two Americans even more was the real-time watching numbers in the live stream room. Right then, there were over ten thousand people online, with numerous watchers using English to send messages in the public chat to greet the judges.
"Please forgive our intrusion, there seems to be no problem now. You may continue fishing as normal." After glancing at the phone’s screen, the bald white man returned Lin Yang’s phone.
"Ok." Lin Yang nodded, and the captain started the motor again and moved forward.
"Damn Americans, they’re so freaking hypocritical—suspecting the host of cheating just because he catches more fish."
"The more they do this, the more I want to catch fish. We’ll leave those idiots far behind and give the Americans a resounding slap in the face."
Lin Yang laughed, "It’s the same both at home and abroad. The actions of the judges are according to procedure, so there’s nothing much for anyone to complain about. We’ve come to someone else’s place to compete; naturally, we must follow their rules. There’s no need to be emotional about it. In fact, the problem lies with us—I didn’t register the fact that I would be using my phone to live stream with the staff in advance."
"That boat’s still following us, it’s clear, these guys still don’t trust us." Wang Feng glanced behind and said.
After the delay, the fishing boat traveled for a few minutes and then arrived at a previously stored marker point.
The captain said, "And now we’ve come to a new marker point."
Lin Yang glanced over the area, near the protruding sharp piece of land of a small island in the lake, a transitional zone where deep and shallow waters meet. Standing on the boat looking over, one could clearly see the difference in water color; it was much shallower.
"Ok, thanks." Lin Yang politely responded and cast his fishing rod toward the transition zone near the marker structure.
For predator fish or other freshwater species, their common congregating areas usually have a few characteristics: either the place is rich in food, it’s suitable for hiding from predators, or it’s favorable for breeding. The structure at the deep-shallow transition ideally possesses all three attributes.
On the first cast, it took only four seconds for the lure to reach the bottom. He estimated the water depth to be about one meter.
Big Mouth Bass are a species of predator fish that depend heavily on light to see, with good visibility, they’re more likely to spot prey.
In shallower water, there’s no need to fish away from the bottom. After confirming there were no snags on the bottom, Lin Yang decided to bump the bottom as he searched the marker point.
Resolved, he cast his line several times in succession. The underwater was clean, and he kept the lure close to the bottom as he searched. Though he didn’t catch any Big Mouth Bass, annoying berry bass bit and were pulled out instead.
Facing this common non-target species that can be found almost anywhere, Lin Yang controlled his frustration, patiently pulling them to the side of the boat for unhooking and release, then continued to search the surrounding area.
But his luck wasn’t as good this time; he caught two berry bass in succession but not a single Big Mouth Bass.
Wang Feng faced the same situation, pulling up a fish that was also a large berry bass.
"Captain, let’s move on. I don’t feel there’s much chance at this marker." Lin Yang said politely.
"Alright."
Watching Lin Yang’s boat restart and move forward, the two judges looked at each other.
"What do you think about the casting and the fishing we just saw? Any issues?"
The bald white man hesitated slightly before speaking solemnly, "Berry bass are common, I often catch them here in the lake too. But not catching a Big Mouth Bass this time, with so little information, I can’t make an objective assessment."
Johnson, "Then let’s continue to follow and observe for a while longer."
"Ok!" After reaching an agreement, the two judges started their boat and followed once more.
"Host, host, the judges’ boat is following us again."
"These Americans are really annoying. They are making it seem like the host is cheating."
"Why did the host only cast about ten times at that marker before giving up? Can you talk about it? I think that transition structure where deep and shallow meet looked pretty good."
Lin Yang didn’t plan to dwell much on the matter of the judges, but seeing that someone asked about the marker situation, he still gave an explanation.
"I saw someone ask why I stopped casting and fishing here, so I’ll share my thoughts. It might seem mysterious, but actually, the decision is pretty straightforward. When we’re searching at a marker, there are certain focuses."
"For example, the various underwater logs, stones, or debris we start with, the aim is to cover the surrounding area as much as possible when searching because the target fish might be hiding somewhere in the water, waiting for the lure to pass by to launch a fatal attack."
"The structure at the deep-shallow transition we just fished, the first couple of casts were bottom-bouncing, and it was very clean beneath. I suspect the bottom was probably mud or sand. With no worries about snags, naturally, searching becomes much easier. I searched the whole area almost brutally, with the lure’s trajectory covering the whole region. Still, with no target fish caught, it’s very likely that there are no target fish here, or they’re simply inactive."
