Chapter 426: Chapter 205: Swarm of Devil Fish_2
Their fertilized eggs will develop inside the mother’s body, and once they’ve matured, individuals that have hatched will be born directly as babies.
"Devil fish of this species can only give birth to one or two young fish at a time, and they are very protective of their only offspring. Research has shown that the devil fish’s leaping out of the water could possibly be a threatening response by the mother when her young is in danger. As for the reason behind today’s large-scale grouping and jumping out of the water, we don’t know for now."
"Another hot shot for sure, so spectacular."
"Mysterious, elegant, beautiful."
"Host, can the drone get a bit closer? The details are still not clear."
"This creature is one that fishing boats at sea evade at all costs. Its tail has poisonous spines, and some species even have an excessively large mouth. It’s still better not to get too close. It can jump to a height of four to five meters."
Lin Yang: "No worries, I’ll raise the drone a bit higher. It should be safe. It’s not every day we encounter such a spectacular sight; let’s give everyone a good look."
He patiently controlled the drone to continue approaching the school of fish. Initially, he just wanted to get closer for a clearer view, but the appearance of the drone seemed to have agitated the school, causing more adult devil fish to leap out of the water, stirring up the entire group.
Getting closer, the details became much clearer.
These big fellows, leaping out of the water like large blankets, would then glide through the air before landing; the sharp contrast between their dark backs and white bellies, accompanied by their slender tails, added a touch of mystery to the creatures.
Most of the devil fish appeared quite stable as they skimmed out of the water and would land belly-first. However, after being agitated by the drone, some devil fish had a harder time, splashing water as they landed on their backs and others unable to control their posture, tumbling after emerging from the water, nearly crashing into their fellow species.
Seeing this, Lin Yang immediately increased the height of the drone, and the reaction of the fish school finally calmed down a bit.
The entire school of devil fish’s unusual disturbance lasted for over an hour before gradually subsiding. More and more devil fish dove back into the depths, eventually disappearing from everyone’s view.
Seeing this, Lin Yang also said, "Okay, that’s it for this morning’s bonus live broadcast. I was planning to enjoy some surface play this morning during the window period, but with the devil fish school here, I guess all other fish on the surface were probably scared away. Everyone had their fill, and now there are no fish left to catch, so I’m going to quit the live broadcast for now."
After ending the live stream, Lin Yang packed up the drone and calmly returned to the cabin for breakfast.
The sun gradually rose, and the temperature at sea began to climb.
Having almost stayed up all night, Lin Yang was no longer in the mood to cast his rod and try his luck, but Wang Feng and Ah Bin were raring to go, taking turns casting surface lures tirelessly with the Wave Crawler.
Lin Yang’s earlier judgment was quite accurate; the massive school of devil fish had scared away the other fish. After busying themselves for over an hour, until nearly ten in the morning, both of them still hadn’t managed to catch a few decent fish with the Wave Crawler.
The morning’s efforts soon came to an end.
According to their itinerary, they were scheduled to fly to Yingjiang Country the morning after next to participate in an international fishing competition, so today was their last day at sea.
Having made a new friend in Ah Bin and caught a record-breaking fish the previous night, Lin Yang suggested finishing fishing early in the morning to head back to Peng City to celebrate and have a taste of the Yellowfin Tuna.
Wang Feng and the others agreed wholeheartedly to his proposal. Everyone packed up their things, and the yacht headed straight for Bay Pier in Peng City.
By five in the afternoon, they finally made it back to the yacht club at Bay Pier.
The first thing to do after docking the yacht, of course, was to deal with the catch on board.
As usual, they had already called Boss Chen on their way back, who had everything arranged for Lin Yang.
By the time the yacht docked, there were already five or six seafood wholesalers waiting there. Because this sea trip was longer than usual and the variety and quantity of seafood on the yacht were considerable, Boss Chen had specially called a few more seafood buyers this time.
Thankfully, the yacht they had taken this time was quite large, with ample capacity in both the freezing chamber and the live well, but even so, their return trip could still be described as returning with a full house.
After a quick and efficient round of bargaining, and because there were more people this time, the seafood they caught was processed fairly quickly. In less than two hours, everything had been sold off.
Except for the largest Yellowfin Tuna, all the seafood they caught had been sold by Lin Yang and his group.
After deducting the cost of renting the yacht, they had made almost four to five hundred thousand from selling the catch. On average, that was just under one hundred thousand per person.
Of course, Lin Yang’s share was at least 50% of that amount.
The fishing trip had taken just over a week, and each person had earned around ten thousand per day on average. This was, of course, under the incredibly lucky circumstances they had found themselves in.
After dealing with the catch from the trip, Lin Yang’s group of five, along with Ah Bin’s group and Boss Chen, took the largest Yellowfin Tuna to the biggest seafood restaurant nearby for a celebratory meal.
The dinner, arranged by Lin Yang, was sumptuous. They had nearly every local seafood specialty, and even the Yellowfin Tuna they caught was prepared by the restaurant’s chef who made sashimi from cuts of its belly and akami.
And naturally, aside from the top-notch seafood, fine wine was essential.
"Little brother Lin Yang, this seafood feast you’ve arranged is a bit too extravagant," Ah Bin couldn’t help but exclaim after seeing the lavish spread the restaurant had prepared.
Smiling, Wang Feng said, "Tomorrow Lin Yang and I are flying to Yingjiang Country. Tonight’s dinner is a bit of a farewell for us. Also, tonight we must enjoy this delicious giant that weighs over four hundred pounds."
"You’re leaving tomorrow? Do you have other arrangements? Why not stay a few more days?"
Boss Chen was somewhat surprised at the news. In his understanding, people at their level didn’t lack money, and they could control their own time.
Lin Yang smiled and shook his head, "In a few days, the international fishing competition will be starting in Yingjiang Country. We need to head over early tomorrow to prepare for the contest, so we’ll have to catch up some other time."
"Oh, I see. In that case, let me wish you good luck in the competition ahead of time!" Boss Chen raised his glass.
"Let’s toast to meeting again sometime in the future."
Everyone raised their glasses and began to enjoy the luxurious seafood banquet of the evening.
The lavish dinner lasted until past ten at night. Nearly everyone had enjoyed quite a bit of drink.
After taking a taxi back to the hotel, Lin Yang, feeling slightly tipsy, returned to his room, took a shower, and then fell into a deep sleep.
...
The next morning, Lin Yang woke up on time thanks to his biological clock. He had to go to the airport in the morning and needed to prepare in advance.
The trip to Yingjiang Country for the international fishing competition was expected to last about a week to ten days. He had to pack the usual essentials, as well as some spare clothes.
To minimize their travel burden, they decided not to bring much fishing equipment. Each person brought only one sea fishing rod, and they planned to buy any other required fishing gear after arriving at their destination.
For this trip to Yingjiang Country for the competition, it was still the five of them: Lin Yang and Wang Feng were the competitors, while Li Xiaopeng and Yue’er acted as assistants.
After having breakfast at the hotel, they packed their bags and drove together to Peng City International Airport.
Their plane tickets to Yingjiang Country had been booked well in advance, and upon arrival, there would be someone from the domestic Fishing Association to receive them.
In short, all of the arrangements for their competition had been taken care of. All they had to do was focus on the competition with peace of mind.
